La Plaz Purchase: Yes
Contingency: Peace

I only say yes if this will not give our budget too much of a hit.

La Paz Purchase: Yes.
Contingency: Peace.

"I support the "purchase" of land, for one reason and one reason only. To deter bloodshed. We caanot allow young men and women to sacrafie their lives for a slither of land, that the capitalists want solely for the cause of honor! The FNT has grown substantially in the last few years, and we will continue to do such. We will be a force to be reckoned with! A force of power! The workers of Chile will stand united in their oppoistion to the oppression that is capitalism! I urge our party members to begin contributing to the new two Socialist orientated papers, Forward! and The Red star, to spread the good word of Marx throughout Latin America!"

-Senator Carlos Carnal

Then the workers will kneel united in the backward, tyranny of Marxism; however, I will refrain from condemning your broken, fallacious system any more than I have, since I have more important affairs to attend to, like governing this great Republic.

Our growing sphere will ensure our nations security and prosperity, and once this new Brazilian issue is resolved, we can return to more diplomatic matters. The majority of Latin America now backs us, and Brazil would be foolish to maintain its independence from it, and will, sooner or later, by negotiation or by force, will be brought into the South American League ((or whatever we choose to call it: any good names? I like the Andean League, but it's too restrictive and exclusive...)).

"The backwards backwater republic that is the third Chilean republic has not done much for the worker, and I haven't seen you championing their cause a single day you've been a politician. You, and your "status quo" mentality do not make a better world. Your mentality is what allows slaughter, and oppression to reign."

-Senator Carlos Carnal

I find it ironic that the one who does not believe in nationality and one who believes that capitalism is a failure supports the purchase.

What happened to the idea of "Workers of the world, unite"? Did that suddenly vanish? How is it possible for a nation to "purchase" land from another nation if the "nation" is a fat-cat's lie created to exploit the worker? Furthermore, why would a Marxist support such a purchase when it not only goes against his belief that capitalism is evil and that the ability to "purchase" should be abolished, but also goes against his belief that nations do not truly exist?

The cracks, not only in your flawed ideology but your facade, are available for the world to see. The Marxist is no different than Santa Rosa: both are statists who wish to see the people enslaved.

"The reason I advocate for the purchase is so that lives are not lost in a war that will result in our gaining it anyway. Secondly, if workers can be encompassed into an area where WE have influence, then even the minor changes can affect their lives greatly, even for the few workers of La Paz. Nations do exist, the only time when they may be abolished is when Marxism has been achieved all over the world. Considering it hasn't even neared that goal yet, we must be happy with what we can manage now. Yet you, the anarchist, support a coalition of South American states, when you wish to see the state diminished? You don't find the hypocrisy in that?"

-Senator Carlos Carnal

Senor Carnal, I not only do not support a coalition of South American states (I, in fact, am as opposed to one as is possible), I have previously stated that I am no anarchist. Are you as deaf as you are blind, sir?

"I did not say do away with, I said diminish. Minimize. Would a meeting of South American states not gradually increase the power of said states? Would lead to an eventual South American union?"

-Senator Carlos Carnal

((It wasn't worded great. Its meant to mean that a conference by South American states would do more to increase the the power of the state then diminish it, such as the sphere of influence idea.))

I'm a pretty small-government man, myself ((though not on your crazy level, Seek :D)), but the value of this meeting is immense; it will create lasting peace, coexistence, and tolerance throughout Latin America, a brotherhood if you will. That does not mean we lose any bit of our powers, our freedoms; rather, our freedoms are spread throughout this grand coalition through trade, diplomacy, and that great fellowship. We have at this moment a chance to create a more secure and free continent; let us not forsake, spurn, this glorious opportunity. We shall create a freer, more prosperous world this way, in the heart of the Amazons, in the valleys of Patagonia, in the shadow of the Andes!

La Paz Purchase: Yes
Contingency: Abstain

I believe that this land, La Paz, must be returned to its rightful owner Bolivia. I would normally support a righteous war to retake all Bolivian territory, but seeing as how it would damage our booming economy, I abstain on this issue for now.

EDIT:
...in the shadow of the Andes!
Oi! Dramatic title drop there I see.

((I try... :D))

I am happy to see you agree with me, Senator Carnal, and how it seems the majority of the Congreso agrees as well.
