Although I only advocated for the innocence of only one of the imperialists, (and abstained a vote I wasn't sure about) I don't want to force anyone into my views. I'm the de-facto leader of the radical libertarian/anarchistic faction within the Liberal party (being the most liberal politician of the most liberal party in Chile) and I don't want you to think I want to turn the world against you, Mr Roseno. I just want you to know that I honestly believe that supporting a second coup and taking part of it, after dismissing a first one AND taking part of it at it's early stages is the most dishonorable thing ever. I really fear for our democracy with men like this, but this is not the end of their treachery! These men then defected to the revolters when the boat was sinking and thus saved their political careers and now want to go out free? I find myself puzzled as to what to think. The defectors have a difficult situation, in a trial they can argue that they worked to destroy the coup fron within, and the attorney can claim they are only doing so to save their careers (and lives). And thus it is why I abstained in one case (and should have abstained in Roseno's case too, which I will do now).

So I abstain in Roseno's cause. Sorry for the inconvinience, TH.

Now Mr. Roseno, to your question:

I believe removal of voting rights for 10 years is the kindest punishment I would propose. Only for special cases, but I believe executions to those who represent a danger to the lives of other people (like the emperor, who would attempt to destroy this government to restore his empire if we let him go free) are the only solution, but a sad one as well.

I believe imprisionment for life or removal of all lands and prohibition to hold office are the other options. Thus, the men would allow to keep their lives as they no longer represent a danger to our society but deserve a punishment.

Finally I believe all imperial titles should be abolished, with no exception. Not only the guilty people, but also those who earned them without conspirating should lose them as well.

((BTW I suggest the imperialists to create new characters and make them socialist or liberal/conservative. Let's forget the monarchy-democracy issue, it is too XVIII centurish. Let's do this more cold war-ish))

((I think a couple of things lowered the rate of people going to the Presidents. First, the lack of space for Radical politics, and two..another Interactive AAR. *Looks around suspiciously.*))

Hey, we here at Shadow of the Andes are committed to inter-interactive AAR cooperation and, in fact, brotherhood, fellowship, and solidarity between all the AAR participants of the forum. And we are certainly not a transparent conspiracy working to destroy The Presidents.

Anyway, thekinguter is right about the Radicals in the real world, but I'm not convinced they'll pass muster in the thread. We'll get to that ballot when we get to it.

(( I would love to play a Jacobin, but Anarcho-Liberals in-game have a set of policies that don't really reflect the principles of unitary government, state terror, and state control of grain prices that make them such interesting villains to play as. So I'm debating between taking the mantle of the second Roseno prince and taking over the Nacionalist/Tradicionalist niche for Rosenoism/a bonapartist party in Chile, or making Che to Cesar's Castro as we work so well together.

Also, they aren't actually able to take away voting rights for a player for 10 in-game years, right TH? If so we should have been able to actually catch some of the Republicanos and cease their agitations. I'm pretty sure by the rules, regardless of whether they pardon, imprison, exile, or execute my character I can always; in another character if necessary; vote and run again in 1886 - right?

))

((Well, they have a link to a summary Gloa was making, but I'm not sure how far it has been updated too.
I don't want to get in trouble for recruiting though, so lets get back on track!))
((It's updated up to the primaries of the most recent election, so it should trim down the amount of pages needed to be read by quite a bit.

It would be nice if we had some kind of updating summary here too [I'm too busy to update summaries for two sometimes really complex and exciting AAR's, so don't look at me], maybe related to the character list some people were suggesting a few pages back. ))

I would like to know what my fate should be by those who find me guilt for crimes against the Republic, as well as what those crimes are.

-Sebastian Roseno
Speaking candidly as one man to another, I would find you to be an accessory to treason, with mitigating circumstances. There are hardly any leaders in the military branches particularly who are completely stainless in terms of the hunting of Chilean patriots (and destroying and confiscating property, endangering or making life difficult for their supply routes, etc.).

As the son of the proclaimed "emperor", you will understand that those who still support the empire would be perhaps encouraged to take rebellious actions in "support" of you, whether you like it or not, if your rank or titles are maintained. I am fairly certain that, whatever the final set of sentences is, those will be clearly voided in the proceedings. Aside from that, it is never easy to determine what fates will be given to those tried for such crimes, as I personally know.

Finally I believe all imperial titles should be abolished, with no exception. Not only the guilty people, but also those who earned them without conspirating should lose them as well.
By the way, did the so called Imperial Honors act get carried out by the former administration? I heard rumors of it, but no news ever came to me about its fate ((or, OOC, I just forgot what happened to it :p)).

((How many brigades do we presently have? I'm still working through my appointments, and I need to see how many troops we have, and how they will be divided))

15 brigades standing but 29 potential. Standing brigades are 10 infantry, 4 artillery, 1 cavalry.

It passed, but it just wasn't hugely relevant in the face of everything else.

Imperial Honors Act?

(my current character, José Aragón, nephew of Badajoz, and supposedly governor of somewhere (used to be Santiago, but our new president holds that title))

You forgot some important facts.

Example: Tamiuszki was the founder of the monarchists.
Fernando (or Francisco, can't remember) Zepeda was Badajoz's right hand man and a war hero, died in the 1846 coup he led.
Jose Aragon is Zagoroth's new character
There are 25+ characters in the AAR, some people just don't post that often.

((You also forgot the fact that Carerra was a hero during the War of Independence, served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs under Badajoz's first term, stood against the first 2 coups before siding with Cesar for the 3rd, was promoted to General, then served as Pallen's Minister of War for both of his terms as President.))

I just want you to know that I honestly believe that supporting a second coup and taking part of it, after dismissing a first one AND taking part of it at it's early stages is the most dishonorable thing ever. ((I'm confused by this statement thekinguter. Are you confusing Sebastian with Carerra? If you read the bio I made for Sebastian, he originally stood against his father until convinced to side with it by Carerra, and he stood against the first 2 coups just like the rest of the army. And Sebastian was planning to join the Republicanos no matter what, and did so a few hours (minutes) after the rebellion started, not really joining when the boat is already sinking.))

third coup? what are you talking about? I can only remember two.

(( Your flashing forward in time to when another agitation-spawned rebel hell topples the government the same way the Republicans did, but only this time with socialists. ))

((When the game spawned rebels without any players instigating it or siding with it, TH still made it follow like a coup, and asked for all Ministers and Generals to side with the Government or Rebels. No one sided with it, but TH still called it a coup, so I instictively call it a coup as well. The update called it the 2nd Chilean Civil War.))

((Edit: Link to it is Here.))

((Damn these mods work fast! Alright, I've made up my mind. I'll be creating my next character after I see Cesars fate, and he will be a socialist. Anyone wishing to RP the other Roseno prince or princes (If Rogov doesn't take one), form an imperial party based on Rosenoism/Bonapartism, just PM me.))
