Partido: Republicano
Candidate: Santa Rosa
Reforms: All

All these reforms are necessary for all Chileans to be truely free. If we can not allow every Chilean the right to vote, then the lies of the Socialistas are true and we do not deserve to remain the party in power. If we do not allow the growing number of factory workers in our nation to develop a Union, then we will not attract any skilled and experienced workers from Europe to move to glorious Chile and lend us their skill. If we actively pressure our people to vote for the party in power, we are no better than the Spanish Monarchy or the Presidential Dictatorships found in the northern areas of our Continent.

Senor, I am in no 'anti-military,' being a military man myself. I merely wish to place more emphasis on the economy. We expanded under the Empire recklessly, and now must work to build infrastructure and support in those regions. The military has not, and will not be defunded under my administration; it will only remain in the current, powerful state. The navy shall be expanded, so this notion that I am 'anti-military' is wrong.

I am however, opposed to going to war so soon after a civil war. Again, though, I wish to make clear that I will support the ruing of the Congreso on matters of war, unless I bleive it is necessary not to go to war. My peaceful stance though has aided in economic growth, and that further spurs expansion of our defensive capabilities.

((have just noted that I am down as Interventionist in your update. I have stated always in my comments that I am Laissez Faire and decry interventioism))

Ah, okay, sorry. Fixed.

((TH, can you automatically resign Sebastian Roseno from the army if the Bill is passed?))

What bill?

((OOps, it looked like he had presented it as a bill. It is on page 157 by cavebear3000. Since it is not a bill, I assume any of the candidates can say they wish to implement it if they are nominated for the actual election.))

Radicales of all ages, races, and genders, do not partake in this lie of an election! The Republicanos have a practical monopoly on power! It doesn't matter who we vote in, because their differences are all trivial at best, and no one but them will win! They promise limited government, but they lie! They are tyrants, foxes in sheeps' clothing, they would have you delivered to the hands of oppression and villainy as soon as they would blink!

"Thank you for the gracious nomination, Senator, I will do our party proud. It is true that while I do fear reactionary sentiments against our land, I do as well fear a liberal monopoly on power, which would lead to a pseudo-dictatorship. I, as well, support the name change put forward by our gracious Senator."

-Senator Carlos Carnal

Senor German, I doubt you know what your talking about; I have fought against government interventionism in the market and the affairs of the people. Moreover, anarchism is in itself a flawed ideology. Why would you want a tyranny of the many instead of the rule of law that the Republic strives for? We are trying to expand the voting franchise to all people, to further democratize and liberalize this institution, without recklessly expanding it. Government has a purpose, and though I would sooner side with a anarchist over a socialist, the result is the same; tyranny. Whether it be by the majority or by the bureaucracy, it seems to happen.

General Zepeda has taken a more prudent viewpoint, actively legislating for limited government, rather than the complete absence of it. Let me ask you this; how can another man's rights be guaranteed without the rule of law? How can you ensure no man is oppressed by the majority. Anarchism is not the answer, Senor German, nor is murder! The rule of law must prevail so it can protect all members of society, rather than be absent or manipulated!

Is it the rule of law, Santa Rosa, or the rule of YOU? You seemed to have no trouble ignoring Carrow's crimes against the people of Chile for his part in the establishment of a tyrannical empire, the same crimes that you saw other Imperialists hung for. You saw Carrow deemed innocent for no other reason than he was a former friend who just happened to be the kind of scum that runs away from trouble at the drop of a hat.

This republic has not seen the rule of law, rather it has seen the rule of Republicanos and of Santa Rosa.

And so the cookie crumbles! Of course, even the socialists who cry and rave at the failure of capitalism claim that there has been "rule of law"! Those who claim that capitalism is inherently corrupt and leads to government serving the needs of the supposed "fat cats" seem to think that there has been "rule of law"! Funny how that seems to work out, isn't it?

You're all the same. Republicanos, Socialistas, Traditionalistas, no matter what name you give yourselves you're the same tyrants who wish to see the people delivered into the hands of the state.

It is the rule of law, senor; I am only a servant of the people, and will remain that way. If the Republic was not following the rule of law, what would have prevented me from taking absolute power, and executing all those imperialists... and those who opposed me? You presume too much, Senor; I love the Republic and the people of Chile, and belive that this representative form of government is the best way to enure their freedoms without either oppressing them or allowing them to be oppressed by the majority.

Carrow rose up against the empire in favour of the Republic, he himself committed few, if any, acts of cruelty to the people of Chile directly, and seemed repentant for his former support of Cesar. I also favoured the Crown Prince of Chile being exonerated for the same reason, his sincerity in opposing such a tyranny.

On the last accusation, why are they other parties? Why do we have elections? The flower of liberty is growing and the Republicanos, being both the planters and guardians of it, have bloomed with it. The other parties lack popular appeal, whilst the Republicanos dominate because we are inclusive of many ideals, ranging from liberalism, like my own, to conservatism, similar to de Vasces. Will this remain to be the case? I cannot say, but for now, we lead and we will work to limit the powers of the government and ensure that the rights of all people are protected.

((and it's Santa Rosa... for those wondering, I liked Santa Anna's name (Antonio Lopez), but not his authoritarianism...
oh... you fixed it... or am I seeing things?))

((Yeah, I tend to do that as well. I actually saw this name in Crusader Kings, and I liked it... hence my character's name! :D

Oh, by the way, I like this new character of your Seek! Very interesting that he attacks everyone, especially your old character!))

The rule of law is necessary to prevent the government from becoming tyrannical... and keep the people from becoming little dictators. The rule of law, not the rule of men, or the rule of the majority, is the key to ensuring all men are treated fairly and equally, and to prevent the government from accruing too much power.

((We like it, too, Seek! Don't worry though, Leon Czolgosz, we will catch you!))

((Damn, I seem to lead a band of angry anarchistic phsycopaths..))
