"For the sake of keeping old Chilean democracy alive, I place a vote of support for the Republicanos.

I am also happy to say that my personal issues have past for the time being, allowing me for time to participate in the Congreso and participate in the elections in 1921."

Breaking News! Earlier today, known Anarchist Mantiago Retruécano was found dead. The cause of death is still unknown, though he was apparently reading a copy of the Diary of Santiago Salvador de Santandera. With this, the Democratic Anarchists have lost their leader and the future of the DA Party is unclear.

Now that we have enough support I say we become a major party! People of Chile, see through the backwardness of capitalism and the evilness of Fascism and support the only solution: Communism!

I support the Frente Nacional. We will get revenge for our patriots.

Crazzio, you slander the names of the real men who stayed and fought in Santiago whilst you fled, and acquired boyfriends to try and persuade this weak Government to grant you amnesty. After all, you did betray the Frente Nacional, and now you cannot even bring yourself to support her in this return to power. You were the only coward who deserved a bullet between his eyes, the only weak fool to truly slander his family and embarass those who he called friends. So Crazzio, I urge you to do what should have been done. Make amends with Alejandro, Fernandez, Hodalgo, etc., and do it by your own hand. Only without suffering your constant worthless whining and side-switching would I consider forgetting you as opposed to actively slandering your family. So, Crazzio, the gates of He'll are open for you. It is up to you as to when you go, but for the sake of your family and our ears, go now.

Senator Hernan de Escovedo

Another calm, hazy day in Santiago. The sun has just risen over the distant mountains yet outside the Congreso some politicians are already doing what they do best: lying. Senator Hernan de Escovedo, elder brother of Alejandro Escovedo (better known today as "the loose cannon of the movement"), stands proudly on a makeshift platform and addresses a fairly large crowd.

"Damn the traitorous Crazzio to hell! Long live the Frente Naciona--"

*bang*

a single shot rings out from the crowd. The huddled masses scream and run for cover as the sky darkens. A general pandemonium ensues, not just in the square but also on the platform itself. Among the confusion, a young man in a black cloak bounds up to the podium, grabs the microphone, and shouts...

"Viva la Capitalistas! Viva Crazzio!"

With a pistol in both hands, the man turns and opens fire on Escovedo's posse. The screams of the dying can be heard over police sirens in the distance. The young man, having emptied both clips, draws a third pistol from his cloak, points it at his head and, with but a slight moment's hesitation, pulls the trigger...

Senator Hernan de Escovedo extricates himself from the mound of dead nationalists. He appears shaken but miraculously unharmed. Onlookers mutter amongst themselves, not wanting to help Escovedo, but not daring to flee the scene. All is quiet once more on this calm, hazy day in Santiago...

An interesting news tidbit, seeing as I am Alejandro's elder brother. Were it only that the man who was coward enough to take his own life was Crazzio himself. I demand that the man either condemn this follower as a rogue, or stand in solidarity with the would-be assassin and condemn himself. I did not previously hold myself in such high regard as to be the target of assassination, being a Senator in opposition to the outgoing Government. But perhaps some people truly cannot take looking themselves in the mirror. And I have held the mirror directly in front of Crazzio, so that he may see who he really is.

Caitan Crazzio has veen an awful politician lately. Not only he has earned the hate of the three main political factions in this country, but he has also become the least popular politician by openly provoking every party.

He has openly attacked the socialists and he is much hated for his work against the communist rebels. Those actions had initially earned him the sympathies of both liberals and conservatives.

Then, when things became complicated with the Frente Nacional he decided to betray them and deny any connections with them, even after being a popular minister inside the Frente Nacional. After things calmed down, the Frente Nacional leadership was purged, he was the last important minister alive and having been a powerful director of the secret police, he couldve been the presidential candidate of the fren te nacional next election, and might have even been the leader of a frente-liberales coalition for both his anticommunism and his desire for free market policies. But no, he betrayed the Frente Nacional when it needed him the most.

And now he claims to be a liberal, but he has done everything wrong. He was alienated by his fellow partymen not only because of his old job as director of the secret police, but because he keeps emphazising the bad parts of liberalism by openly boasting his money and social status as a capitalist, when the liberales are trying to diminish the sad inequalties of their system through reforms and charity.

It is a shame that Caitan Crazzio has earned the hate of all the chilean politicians.

A man enters the room and tells Mr. Tottenheim that Crazzio is now dead.

The Frente Nacional says goodbye to old Caitán Crazzio, who was once a great hero who purged the communist threat as the former director of the secret police and later a great Frente Nacional supporter. We are however not amused that in his last days he betrayed openly the Frente Nacional and became a coward, as it is believed he was suffering from the effects of an advanced age. The nation is in commotion.

The Frente Nacional is also expecting anxiously the declaration of support of the last Caudillo, Sebastian, who seems to be away at the moment.

((bold move but you're right that he was getting too old. No hard feelings OldCleric ;) ))

epitaph

Here lies Caitan Crazzio whose body was embalmed, covered in molten gold, and placed in a jade tomb along with 1000 precious jewels, each valued at no less than 10,000 Chilean dollars. He was the champion of the hardworking, defender of the ambitious, and the most powerful politician Chile has ever known. The fabulous statue behind this marker will stand as an eternal testament to his honor. Look at his works, ye mighty, and despair!

Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and level sands stretch far away

Ha! Poor Crazzio was the most colorful person to enter these senate chambers in a while. He will be missed.

Oh and Egypt called, they want their Sphinx back.

Also, it seems that there exists two coalitions at the moment... Communists, and those who do not want Communists. I offer a tentative feeler out: Would any parties be interested in closer relationships to fight the radical left in the poles?

I have received the following appointments from El Presidente.

Minister of the Interior: Francisco Villa (LeeroyJenkins)
Minister of the Treasury: Pablo Garcia (viola)
Minister of Foreign Affairs: Juan Rivera (atomicsoda)
Minister of Defence: Jesus Gonzales (yourworstnightm)

I've been asked to play through without military appointments for the time being due to confusion over the generalships - you can expect the military appointments from the minister of defense soon.

While I do not speak for all the Frente Nacional, there is a strategic interest in having a coalition. As you can see, even if a Frente Nacional candidate gets elected, we would not be able to fill the cabinet with Fremte Nacional members and therefore we would have to appoint liberales.

So yes, there are people interested in forming a coalition.

And as a footnote: My initial statement was a indirect comment towards Caitan Crazzio's inevitable retirement, and sadly I publicated it when he had just died and the news had not reached me by then. I am very sorry and I am filled with regret. Caitan Crazzio was a bold and great man, even if by the end he was getting strange and hostile. Rest in Peace.

I am honored by my appointment to the position of Minister of the Interior, I shall not fail my presidente or my People, thank you.

Only 4 ministerial positions? Are there any unofficial ones held by President Bevan?
