"I wonder what the policies for the so-called 'Democratas Liberales' are?"
~ Daniel Palomino
"Mr. Palomino, come look!"
A beaming young man, clothed in a golden blazer and dark purple khaki's, pulls Mr. Palomino towards the banner.
"See for yourself what our -I mean- his platforms are!"
It reads...
Hola mi amigos! I hope you are all faring well in this new republic! Here are my proposed platforms for the Democratas Liberales...
Laissez-Faire- Don't cage industrious Chileans, let them soar like eagles and profit from their enterprise. Some limited regulations must be maintained in order to protect the consumer, but let not this red tape stifle the economy. Above all, LOWER TAXES!
Free Market- Chile is an economic powerhouse, by being free market we can both attract foreign markets and increase our own living standards with foreign goods.
Moralism/Pluralism- Chile should be open to new ideas, but we should also be proud of who we are. Nationalism has been given a bad name and is too extreme a word, so I shall use the term "Patriotism" to describe what I'm going for here.
Pro-military/Neutral- Chile should be ready to defend itself but gone are the days of the nationalist war hawk. I personally would like to reclaim the lands held under nationalist rule but the cost is too great (in lives, money, and international prestige). Let the future be one of peace and goodwill towards all men in South America.
Full citizenship- We must continue to attract foreigners to our lands for they revitalize our economy, bolster our armed ranks, and (given time) can become patriotic citizens and productive members of society.
