@ Randy - You are currently Senior Rear Admiral. However, the chance of your promotion to Vice Admiral is slim. Of our 5 Rear Admirals, both Boris, Adamus and 2 NPC's are more likely to be promoted than you. The Rear Admiral Promotion Scores is at the moment: Boris - 2339, NPC - 2242, NPC - 2224, Adamus - 2128, Randy - 1495. Just to add more points, there are 4 Commodores with higher Promotion Scores.

Well, there's still plenty of people around with less rank :)

And there is no problems in Lt. Ook piloting a fighter. Devin/Vain - You can discuss among yourselves who want Lt. Ook in their squadron.

Good. :)

I say Lt Ook has proven his ability and should be the leader of the third squadron.
I also respect his bravery in volunteering to lead the first sortie against the Koala Menace.

@ Lord Stange - Which is why you are now working in a dome in said crater.

2051:

7/1 - Refit of our scouts starts. The first 3 will be finished 7th of October.
12/2 - 2 more freighters refitted - 2 new ones begins construction.
22/2 - 3 more freighters built. - More new constructions are begun.
22/3 - Rear Admiral Adamus improves Fleet Maneuver to 456.
12/5 - 1,2k tons of Sorium (1) found on Thebe. The Geologists are transferred to Callisto.
17/5
MEMO FRM CPT PYOTR TAIISATAI RURIKOVSKI, CMD CV BLUE EMU TO VADM ORANGEYOSHI - Sir, on behalf of my engineering crew I would kindly ask you and your staff to restrain your Flag Lieutenant Ook. This is now the fift time during our training exercises that the Flag Bridge have been almost destroyed from one of his..... actions! We now once again need to take on new maintenance supplies from the colliers which will interfere with the training. Furthermore, several of my Engineers have been heard entertaining the idea of seeing if Lt. Ook can fly without a shuttle. MSG ENDS
2/6 - Joebtragreat II have succeeded in reducing the size of our Jump engines.
12/6 - No more Mercassium on Earth. Only Corundium left now.
17/6 - The 3 Fleet Scouts have been completed on Earth. They join the Training Squadron to prepare for Operation Purple Dawn.

So now I'm working in an underwater base involving explosives?

FORMULAAtlantis.jpg

17/7 - Commodore GaiusC improves Fleet Maneuver to 449.
18/8 - Commodore GaiusC improves Fleet Maneuver to 484.
8/9 - Commander Devin Perry improves Crew Training to 25.
28/9 - I have increased my Ground Unit Construction bonus to 5%.
3/10 - The 20th freighter have been launched. For now, the shipyards are alowed to go to idle.
8/10 - The first 3 scouts are refitted. Next the 3 additional ones, but exploration are on hold until the navy have finished Operation Purple Dawn.
18/11 - Rear Admiral Boris ze Spider II improves Fleet Maneuver to 287.
23/11 - I have increased my Factory Production bonus to 30%.
8/12 - After playing around with explosives, Lord Isaac Strange have gained new insights in the working on the Atom and thereby increased his Research Bonus to 60%.
18/12 - The Navy is recalling all ships from Training Exercise for overhaul in preperation for Purple Dawn.

Thus endth 2051 - Our Navy is almost ready for our War against the Space Koalas (Operation Purple Dawn). It is currently undergoing overhaul while our missile factories are churning our new missiles for our light cruisers. Our older fighters are still using the old missiles, which will not be replaced, since the FC is not better.

For further information re. Operation Purple Dawn, please contact Operations Officer of the Fleet Rear Admiral Randakar.

@ Lord Strange - I haven't seen any oceans on that asteroid you currently use for testing purposes.

18/8 - Commodore GaiusC improves Fleet Maneuver to 484.
Woot :)

Still, what kind of ship do I command? I think I forgot

@ GaiusC - You are stuck on SC Henry Hudson, currently undergoing refit on Earth for the Santana II class Survey Ship.

I am commanding a vessel that is going to see action right? Im not a maverick that just sits around watching a victory, i am there on the front line cigar in mouth churning out one liners like its battlestar galactica all over again...

So say we all...SO SAY WE ALL!

Escort this gentleman to the airlock, please.

@ Adamus - You are the Captain of CA Ulysses S. Grant, a Sirocco Class Cruiser and currently Task Force Commander of our navy. This will only last until the Training Group is merged with the rest of the fleet where Rear Admiral Boris ze Spider II will take over from the Cruiser CA Ulan Bator while Vice Admiral OrangeYoshi directs the strategi from the Flag Bridge on CV Blue Emu. Also, please remember that this is a non-smoking flight - Including no smoking in the lavatory.

@ Reis - I am disappointed in your lack of respect of your superior officer Captain. Remember that people who say the truth... ehm.... Offend their superiors often meets Lt. Ook.

And I can see that I have a Rear Admiral I need to kill somehow. I can't have him promoted to Vice Admiral ahead of the Paradoxians and at the moment he outscores Boris by 900 points. Any creative ideas? He's currently the captain of 1 of our destroyers, so we could have him test the PD against the Kox, but that would be a waste of Destroyer.... Ah, well - I'll figure something out.

Put him on an old ship with minimal crew and order evacuation to the life pods...

*innocent look*
( Why, are the engineers not giving him enough bananas? :p )

What are Flag Lt. Ook's stats, anyway? ;-)

Just give him to a paradoxian that dies. Or comes in as a new player. Or .. well, you'll think of something :p

SM demote him.

@ Reis - I'm considering sending him in a combat drop FAC against a Kox PD PDC. After forgetting to load troops there ofc.

@ Randy - You have to discuss that with the Fleet Logistical Officers. He's sitting 2 seats to the left of you in the meetings, remember???

And Lt. Ook don't have stats. He don't need them. He's got arms like a Gorilla.

@ Vain - No! He's gotta die horribly (Or I'll retire him while writing a good story to how he died)

@ Vain - No! He's gotta die horribly (Or I'll retire him while writing a good story to how he died)

Load him into a fighter on the first squadron into action. The precursors in my current game are firing size 1 ASMs with a range of something like 50M km doing 69,400KM/s, which is significantly more bastardly than the last precursors I've encountered because they're throwing 64 missiles in each salvo, and can fire at least four dozen salvos before running dry from their PDCs. So if the Kox are anything like that, our fighters are going to get splashed with heart-rending frequency.

@ Vain - Good Idea - I'll have him assigned as your wingman on your next mission.

@ Boris - As you command! The session where Purple Dawn is launched will be tomorrow at app. 18.00 CET. Just waiting for the overhaul to finish now.

Good, good. I am not worried for myself, personally: as my dear father demonstrated, it takes a full-sized anti-ship missile to kill one of the Glory family, even when they have no armor.

EDIT

Anyone happen to know the answer to this question I'm about to pose: if you destroy PDCs by firing nukes at them it causes collateral damage to the installations on the planet (and to the atmosphere), which is why landing troops to capture the PDCs is a better idea if you can pull it off. But what about against precursors? I've encountered two ~12,000t precursor PDCs on a planet, and I could easily blow them away with my battleships. I'm wondering whether this affects the number of installations discovered on the planet when a Xenology team is sent in. I'd assume no, because as I understand it the game generates the planet (moon of a super jovian actually) with a base on it and classes it as, say, a partially intact colony. When a Xenology team is planted, the number of installations is calculated based on diceroll, the skill of the team, and the rating of the precursor colony. Thus bombarding the planet has no effect because no installations exist yet to be destroyed. But I'm not sure about this. I'd just land the troops, but I suspect that will end very badly: the PDCs expended their ASMs against my fleet, mostly against my battleships (210 shielding, 10 layers of armor, one BB took 1 hit under the armor but that was it) although a few DEs and DLs got splashed, but their AMMs are still locked and loaded (most bizarrely they're firing size 1 ASMs at 50M km, and apparently size 20 AMMs that split into submunitions :s) so my Fast Landing Craft will get mutilated.

Never considered it, so I must admit I have no idea. But would be very interested in the answer. Would change the strategy for planetary assaults.

Make a copy of your database after nuking the planet, but before sending a xeno team and see if you get different results. If they are, it's probably just random + skill.
