I always liked these RandomHOI3 mods, just don't understand why Entre Rios is a country...

Cantabria, for example, is not a country too. And never existed, (its like.. a state in EEUU for example, more o less). But gives you more paths for an ahistorical scenario if you wish. In this mod, its only 1 more country to the list. More different countries, more fun :).

The Republic of Entre Rios was a short lived republic in what is now Argentina, it existed during the War of Independence.

1937

I lied.

The situation along the Nigerian border became slightly hotter at the end of Janaury 1937 with the deployment of several armed militias. A total of 12 brigades, two of which were eventually upgraded to Infantry. Three of the brigades also recieved artillery or anti-tank guns. These units were rushed into service and most had no basic training. Only those who had fought for the revolution a few years earlier knew how to fight and even then the tactics that they had developed were rough and imprecise.

During 1937 a great many small nations began appearing through out the world. Well over twenty minor nations surfaced from the "repression" as they would call it from their former masters.

Tensions in the region grew as the Croatian government refused to back down to any demands to surrender their claim to provinces that had at some point or another had belonged to Croatia. However there was a feeling that Croatia should have given up their claim to lands now controlled by Australia as there were a fellow socialist nation.

Australia was the first to join with one of the nations calling for a change to the world order. They were soon followed by Tajikastan in Europe a nation of equal size to the Maldives and Australia. The Choctaw Nation and Togo continued their calls alone.

Feeling that the time was nigh that Croatia should join in the Red Revolution that the Maldives called for, they began making attempts to align themselves towards the Comintern alliance. However there was great resistance to this move by hardliners who still contested that the territory in Australia rightfully belonged to Croatia. As a result there were unwelcome and unnofficial moves to head toward a rival alliance.

Feeling left out, Poland deployed a division along the Croatian border. There were no troops to spare and considering the mountainous nature of the area, a division of mountaineers were ordered. However due to major restrictions in Croatias industrial capacity, this was delayed severely and they will not arrive until April 1938.

The first of the new factories arrived however it will be sometime before another will arrive. So far technology has improved the situation to a degree but not to make any major difference due to Croatias limited capability.

At the start of 1938, the great treaty of 1788 that demanded there be 150 years of total peace between nations would come to an end. Although many nations had long since ignored this treaty, the official end of peace was causing great concern among nations who were not prepared for the potential annexation of their peaceful lives. Croatia was feeling particularly unprepared as the number of brigades deployed by Nigeria was estimated to be double that of Croatia. War seemed imminent and the first clash of ideologies between nations looked to be around the corner. Technologically and suprisingly industrially Croatia has the upper hand however the number of men that the King of Nigeria conscripted worried many of the generals.

How can a nation not even a third of your size recruit so many more divisions that you?

They dedicated their entire resources into their military, I did not. I did not realise Nigeria would move so fast so I was hoping to get some factories in and they are long haul builds at the start of the game. This was my mistake and I will have to live with it, although perhaps briefly. If I die I shall just play a different nation, Australia perhaps?

Nigeria has the fourth largest population in the world, you know.

1938

1938 was the year the world began to change. Nations began to mobilise troops across the world and Australia was the first to do so. This concerned Croatia briefly however noting that there were no troops amassing along their border they largely ignored this event.

A new foreign minister was appointed to try and lessen the power of those who had been slowly aligning Croatia with the Bourgeoisie nations. The former minister, Sid Rempe (+10% peace intel) was escorted away from his offices and was later tried for conspiring against the state although that particular charge was dropped, he was however convicted of embezzling party funds sentenced to 7 years hard labour and his party membership revoked. The evidence of this was shakey at best.

During 1938 a new specialist force was deployed along the polish border. Although all infantry units had some basic mountaineering training (many were already proficient because of Croatias mountainous lands), a force of the most expert climbers was deemed necessary.

Meanwhile in Europe, the leader of the Comintern mobilised their armed forces. The reason was unknown but tensions in the region were certianly coming to a boiling point.

In April, fearing that Nigeria will come out ahead in the arms race in the short term, Croatias spy networks began sabotaging or destroying anything related to Nigerias war machine. Of course they did not use obvious methods however eventually their actions caught up to them and most of the spies had been captured or killed. The operation was cancelled in August.

With war feeling to be an innevitable conclusion to the growing arms race and tensions with Nigeria, a group of generals set themselves the task of considering how to invade and destroy Nigeria and bring their a socialist one party state. By capturing Anpu it would be hoped that the attacking division would be able to cut off several enemy divisions which would then crush the enemy and free 5 divisions to begin an offensive southwards. However this plan was not going to be easy as the area in question was made up of jungle and there was a small fortress in the area. Combined this would cause serious casualties to the Croatian army.

The exact start date is not known however Australia has invaded Portugal and Portugal is not doing very well.

In october there was the brief hope that our troubles with the Allies supporters would be forgotten when The Maldives began to actively talk with the Croatian government about their idea of bringing Communism to the entire world. Unfortunately the talks broke down due to a mistranslation (the translator has been missing since).

By the end of the year, Portugal was struggling to hold off the inevitable as their capital was surrounded and their important industrial and cultural centres were on the frontline. Although they were able to breakout a short distance out of the capital, it is unlikely that they will be able to hold this position for long.

During 1938 a great many nations joined the Great Alliances (Although the Axis alliance could not be called "Great"). The Comintern grew the fastest.

Axis:
  • Togo (leader)
  • New Zealand

Allies:
  • Choctaw Nation (leader)
  • East Anglia
  • Hawai'i
  • Parana
  • Styria
  • Netherlands
  • Tannu Tuva
  • Abruzzo
  • Mozambique
  • Carinthia

Comintern:
  • The Maldives (leader)
  • Australia
  • Tajikstan
  • Galacia
  • Namibia
  • Savoy
  • Fiji
  • United Kingdom
  • Haiti
  • Leinster
  • Turkestan
  • Guinea Bissau
  • Micronesia
  • Dominican Republic
  • Kazakhstan

Looks like you are going to find yourself allied with Galacia again, if you do go and join the Comitern.
You might want to divert more resources away from industry and towards the infantry, after seeing that huge stack at the Poland-Nigeria-Croatia border triangle.

I have been. 90% of the Militia have been upgraded to Infantry and I have about 14-15 divisions now, I just didn't include a screenshot. The navy and airforce still do not exist however but I deffinitely have the greater IC and Tech now. Croatias nuetrality has been falling steadily and at its current rate if I do not increase threat of Nigeria it should take about 3 years to DoW. I may just noneutrality cheat it because lets face it. It's a bit boring with nothing happeneing.

Out of curiosity, this is a open question to everyone, do you prefer the non involved narrative way I do this AAR or do you prefer where I have a situation where characters are talking to each other OR what I was doing by the end of the first AAR and just showing the battles etc.

Hopefully this Croatia will stand longer than the Croatia in your previous Unpredictable AAR. :)

Y'know, I can't even remember what happened to it.

I rather like the history-book style, but if it ets to the point where too many things are happening at once for each update to cover a long length of time, then I'd go back to what you were doing before. In the end, it's all what you're confortable with.

1939

Although being a communist nation led by like minded people, an attempt by the extremists to communise several factories was greatly resisted by many. Their calls for this idea to be shot down were further supported by evidence showing that factories that had previously been communised had huge drops in efficency and production. The idea was rejected by the parties leadership.

2j13gw7.jpg

A member of the communist party in Australia visited Croatia as part of a mutual support deal that would help improve both nations production of basic resources. The man, who's name was lost in the records, showed several leading members of the Croatian party plans of new mining equipment that should increase the amount that is mined. The plans were quickly invested into and for a year the level of basic resource production increased by 10%. However the increase did not last as the new machinary was expensive to maintain and many miners returned to using their older and more reliable tools.

The war between Australia and Portugual became very fluid during 1939. The siege around the capital of Portugal had been broken several times and continued to hold out inspite of their situation.

Namibia became the first nation to annex another sparking the start of change in the world order. The outcome of which is still being awaited.

Tensions in with Nigeria increased again, this time the smugglers were caught shipping small arms. Thier destination was unknown as the fight that ensued on its discovery ended with all but two of the smugglers being killed. The two that were captured died a few days later of their injuries.

The Aus-Port war continued to move back and forth. When the Australians were forced to fall back a significant way, quite often the commander was locked in a room with a pistol that had only one bullet. The room would only be unlocked after the gun had been fired and if the commander was still alive he would be shot and his entire family stripped of their possessions and exiled to the wild jungles. However this method of punishment was eventually dropped because a brain drain in the leadership of the army was feared because the frontlines kept moving back and forth so often.

In the north of Portugal, the Portuguese had managed to cut off several divisions in the Imphal pocket. However within 10 days the Australians had managed to recapture the land that had been lost.

Although a largely silent border, the Polish had begun deploying several more divisions along it. As a result several mountain divisions were ordered to create a corps and by the end of the year the majority of it had been deployed. Some of these new divisions were also the first to have no reserve elements.

Brazil was the second country annex another.

Germany was the third to fall after being attacked from three different directions by Singapore, Schleswig-Holstein and Andalusia.

By the end of the year, Portugal had managed to liberate the most northern areas of their nation and the frontline had largely stablisied.

The Great Alliances had expanded significantly during this period, the Allied membership had almost doubled and the Axis membership had almost sextupled. However the Comintern remained the largest alliance with a total of 19 countries where as the Axis and Allies only had 11 and 18 respectively.

Axis:
  • Norway
  • Denmark
  • Kent
  • Aquitaine
  • Eygpt
  • Singapore
  • Andalusia
  • Abkhazia

Allies:
  • Wallonia
  • Turkey
  • Wessex
  • Mexico
  • Maratine Union
  • Sahrawi Republic (sp?)
  • Sudetenland

Comintern:
  • Ulster
  • Bohemia
  • Cannacht
  • Serbia

By April 1939 the militia brigades had all been fully trained and could then be classed as Infantry. Nigeria still outnumbered Croatia but the quality and training of the Croatian army was thought to negate this advantage. The airforce and navy still only existed on paper. War with Nigeria continued to seem inevitable.

I am aware that some screenshots on previous posts are no longer working. I can not reupload these images as they are no longer on my hard disk! This is the hosts fault that they no longer exist!
