That's what I too always observed and for sure AI doesn't know how to use ICBMs properly.

USSR has a 4% preference towards building strat bombers which isn't much... It's good idea to increase navy/strats preferability for them further because their land army is already huge. If it doesn't work, a hidden event giving them strat wing (AI only) under certain limits and circumstances could have more benefits than negatives.
MDS used to have events giving nuclear countries ICBMs and nukes when nuclear war got triggered and I'd say they worked pretty well. Giving USSR bombers might not be enough because of allies air superiority.

Sorry.

See if i am to get the latest update of NWO 2, do i unzip the folder in to my current version of NWO 2

If so which is the most up to date one? (novice question but better safe than sorry)

First link in the first post. And yes, I think you can let it overwrite.

What's the effect of nukes anyways? Is there a threshold for number of nukes triggering surrender? Or does it raise dissent?
On a more general note: What's a viable nuke strategy?

Dissent, destruction of IC + tactical use against troops.
In my game as China USSR managed to get to France but after heavy nuking campaign by the allies their forces were pulled back all the way to Ural.

Cool, I tested nukes on Russia with USA in 1945. Dropped 3 nukes on oil rich provinces and essentially immobilized their heavy tank force. I didn't know that you can still use them effectively against ground forces.
In the good old HoI1 times I once destroyed 529 Soviet division with one nuke. Set up a trap and the a.i. walked right in it. Probably nukes won't just kill anything that breathes in the targeted province anymore :D

It's hard to kill units with nukes but they seriously damage them, best usage is to create a breakthrough in enemy lines using nukes and tanks.

So I'm getting a bunch of errors about unknown tech id's when I start the game even though I followed all the instructions and installed the Cold War Tech Tree mod. I didn't find a whole lot of help for this issue so can any of you guys help me?

I promise to include the ICBM-by-event thing in the next version then. :) It kind of slipped from my memory since it was posted here some time ago.

Octosteel Prime, I suppose you didn't install CWTT before NWO, the setup instructions are in the first post.

No, I followed the instructions exactly. I tend to not post unless I've tried everything. Regardless, I just clicked ignore on the problem and started to play some. I think there's a bug currently since it's 1969 and Johnson is still President with no option to choose Nixon. Is this just simply a case of the mod being unfinished?

Next version is going to be very cool then :D I think number of added nukes and ICBMs should be tied to both IC and reactor level\technology

Just a few things i have noticed in the latest mod, I have played two games, one with USSR, one with Communist china (Amazing alternatives if the Nationalists win btw Bizon! :D ) Both games i have played up till 1985.

(may be me but just pointing out just in case)

The UK didn't release Israel so no Arab Israeli conflict. Although all other nations were.

Cuba missile crises did not occur.

West Germany in the late 60's has former National Socialist leaders like Karl Doenitz in their Government.

When Nasser United the Arab nations, (in my first game Iraq, Syria, Jordan and Egypt) after it collapsed Egypt remained in control of norther part of Iraq.

The Dutch East indies cease fire with Indonesia fires well, but their is no continuation war.

Apart from that amazing mod! really nicely touched up. I was going to ask though, See if i wanted to start playing from a world war two scenario, what scenario is best suited to follow on to the NWO mod?

Since the new update Germany ALWAYS wins WW2, and Nationalist China always wins the Civil War, no matter what I do. Is anyone else experiencing this?

There's nothing in the mod that should alter the WW2 balance, really. As for CHI winning the war, yes it should be happening now, especially if the war starts around the turn of 1945/46. Did you notice when was it launching? If Marshall negotiates truce and the start pushes back to 1947, it's CHC which should have easy time. I'll be working on this balance further for 2.2.4.

One thing that sometimes happens that has ugly consequences, is CHI cutting off Manchuria from the mountain CHC powerbase. If it's going to persist I'll have to work on AI (assigning province priorities) or in worst case, alter the border once again.

Any scenario giving remotely historical result is ok. 1936/39 scenarios really should work, shouldn't they? :)

Actually there is. Stalin is still not a paranoid megalomaniac in Vanilla DH scenarios, since NWO2 doesn't include files for those scenarios. Soviet minister file, on the other hand, has been modified, and thus the "vanilla Stalin" that is HoS in 1936 scenario is not a paranoid megalomaniac.
