I don't mind the focus on warfare, but I'd enjoy a little more family management, CK style but a little lighter.

Patch is gonna help with that slightly.. Education for your Children is a huge boost overall to the family maangment system, and perhaps some Mods will make it even more entertaining in time hopefully.
