Shaybanid
Chapter 2

First thing I will do is recruit soldiers for the military.

China's population is larger than mine (252m to 213m) so I have to do this if I want to think about invading them.

I'll be recruiting infantry. Guards don't come along until 1850. *clickity click* x170

shay7.jpg

I'm starting with Medicine tech, as it may allow me to invent Prophylaxis against Malaria. That will allow me to begin my colonisation.

shay8.jpg

Speaking of colonisation, I am able to colonise (some of) the Transvaal at the beginning of the game. I have 2 national focus points (limited by tech) and 4m Uzbek POPs.

Oh, and now I get to press the spacebar. There's no going back now.

Not a lot interesting happened in 1836, but here's a little picture. I haven't built any factories myself yet. I had no capitalists at the beginning of the game, but now I have a burgeoning bourgeois and they've found themselves some money to start companies.

However, none of the infantry queued up at the beginning of the game have begun recruitment, due to a small arms shortage. I wonder whether it would have been better to recruit irregulars instead.

I barely ever choose to… oppress my minorities. However, they have assimilated a bit…

… to Chinamen.

Austria declared war on Bohemia in Jan 1838. Austria brought in all its German SOI and Bohemia had some too. Bohemia was also at war with Spain at the time.

World War I has begun, in 1838.

Bohemia is at war with France, GB, Spain and Austria, all at once.

In the log France can be seen demanding three regions off Peru.

Transvaal colonisation complete, medicine tech almost finished. You might also see one brigade has started construction.

I have a few techs I need to research:

Mechanised Mining (allows small arms factories)
Idealism (not before 1840) (allows faster research)
Post-Nelsonian Thought (allows naval bases for easier colonisation. I only have 1 naval base, around the coast of modern-day Pakistan, and I need one in Kamchatka and one in Bengal)
Muzzle-Loaded Rifles (prerequisite for Machine Guns in 1870, for colonisation)
Idealogical Thought (prerequisite for Nationalism and Imperialism, also for colonisation)
Freedom of Trade because I haven't done it yet, and it's a very good first tech. Why didn't I do it first, then? :eek:o

I'll leave this update here. The 20 screenshots is a limit, not a target…

Off to a good start, it seems. Can't tell whether or not you have Freedom of Trade, but that should ALWAYS be a priority if you don't.

Oops.

I always forget at least something in every update. I'll edit it in now!

No worries :) Medicine is another good tech, so you're not really that far behind the ball, so to speak.

Looking good so far. I wouldn't worry too much about having a smaller population than China. As a civilised GP you'll easily out-tech them meaning that they should be fairly easy to take down provided you don't catch them in late-century when they've got machine guns and you haven't got bolt action rifles yet.

What's your overall plan for the game?

Feedback

Avindian: Tech hasn't been that slow, due to lots of "discriminatory school system" events, but there are still a few I should have had earlier. Oh well.

Dewirix: China's population is increasing very rapidly as they eat the various small Chinese factions. War with China will happen at some point, I expect. I also have claims on Manchukuo, whom I intend to invade sooner.

I don't tend to have a plan in mind at the beginning of the game, in most games it is either "survive" or "westernise". This game is unique in that sense.

Oh, and I'll need machine guns to colonise Africa. That is the short-to-mid-term plan.

Chapter 3

Here is my first ally since 1526. And I started in 1525.

(Unless you count Xia, which I force-released from Ming. They have been annexed, in 1838.)

Medicine finished researching, with help from "discriminatory school system" events. I have begun researching Freedom of Trade.

With Prophylaxis against Malaria complete I can colonise a part of Ethiopia. Parts of Australia also have liferating 30, however, my naval base is too far away.

France is just being cruel to Peru now.

Aha, a random event! Good.

This means:

war!

Meanwhile, in war-torn backwater Europe, Austria won WWI, and Bohemia formed Czechoslovakia.

A war between the largest empire the world's ever seen and a three-province country in the Urals ends well for me.

Playing a huge country is odd, the largest I've played in vanilla V2 is Germany.

With Freedom of Trade finished, I begin Mechanised Mining. It will allow me to train some soldiers (have trained ~1 per year) by building small arms factories.

Lithuania has taken a bite out of Persia, and I need to reclaim my core in Astrakhan.

… with force.

Persia is currently at war with the British Empire, who hold southern and central Persia, and the Ottomans.

Colonisation of part of Ethiopia/Western Somalia complete. The region left in the space is undergoing colonisation.

With Mechanised Mining complete I have begun Post-Nelsonian Thought in order to construct naval bases.

I'll leave you in the middle of the Persian war, but I I think the outcome is already decided… I'm not sure I like playing a huge powerful country. Nmber of brigades has shot up; I'm recruiting them far more quickly now. I plan to invade Manchukuo soon.

I will probably end up breaking the infamy limit sometime in the 1850s or something ridiculous.

Oh, and rebels have begun organising and there are 6.5m anarcho-liberals. Gulp.

Chinese, and Bengali, amongst other South Asian POPs, have migrated to Siberia. Some of the provinces there have >250k population.

Yours,

tamius.

To Siberia huh?
tsk tsk.
Nice update though!

Super cool conversion AAR. I followed most of your EU3 adventures, and look forward to a Mughal-dominated industrial revolution.

For your sakes you better hope a Planned Economy party doesn't come to power. Having to manage all the factories in every state would be a nightmare!

Strangely enough, your Ionian Islands (who I know are actually supposed to be Swahili) are pretty much in the same spot as Selzo's African possessions in his Sing a Septinuslar Song AAR.

Wow... I will love to see what you come up with when you convert this to HoI3...

Subbed!

I've just completed reading your prior Pegu AAR and obviously the EU Shaybanid AAR. Was a very great read and gives me hope and inspiration to soon create my own EU3 AAR if anything - I've only been playing EU3: Chronicles for about 3 weeks (played HoI3 a couple years ago though).

Lastly, just reading through the EU Shaybanid AAR, I haven't completed my first game yet (playing as Portugal) and when I saw the screenie of 223K Rebels? Holy moly haha, expected with such a large country though!

I love alternate history setups in AARs.:) It makes it more of an interesting read! Can we see your budget screen?:)

CivandEUIII: thanks!

Quacky: Currently the great powers are:

1. Mughalistan
2. Czechoslovakia
3. France
4. Lithuania
5. British Empire
6. Austria
7. Venice
8. (but about to lose their spot) Flanders

That's just after the end of the incoming update.

Wombats O' War: I've just taken top spot in the industrial rankings...

mayorqw: The liberal government has made them lose a few numbers... they're down to 5.3m now...

Dewirix: OH GOD I HATE MICROMANAGEMENT I've appointed a liberal party to do my work for me at the moment. Though I get the feeling there'll be a great socialist uprising in the early 1900s...

And with regard to Swahilionian Islands: I intend to annex them, and the inland province The Hansa/Tripoli owns.

Prince of Savoy: I don't own HOI3, but I can solve that fairly easily.

Oxea: 223k rebels isn't so bad in a country with >220m people. However, they've gained in number.

Nikolai: You certainly can.

Next chapter: WW2 and Italian Unification!

Chapter 4

This chapter begins with peace in the Persian war.

Lithuania now has one isolated province in my territory.

Russia also annexed Novgorod/Ruthenia.

World War 2 begins in 1843. France has declared war on Austria and its German allies have come to its aid.

With Post-Nelsonian thought complete I begin Idealism, for quicker research. You can see Tibet beating China in a war in the picture there.

You may be able to see my industry is 2nd in the world now. I have my capitalists to thank.

Werder region has finished colonisation. I need to find somewhere else for NF to go.

I switched to the liberal party as they are Laissez Faire. The industrial subsided (7000 per day) were demolishing my economy, and now the capitalists will expand factories and demolish bankrupt ones.

World War 2 concluded in Oct 1844.

I've never seen this event before, and I've played quite a few games of V2. I'm now in profit, finally, not having to subsidise the capitalists' factories.

Unfortunately, the liberals are pacifist, which decreases my military spending, which decreases my military rank, meaning I've fallen to #2 overall and #12 in military rank (I have 322 brigades, and I'm behind Bavaria which has 25)

shay32.jpg

Back up to #1. My upper house went very liberal, so I allowed voting. I'm still an absolute monarchy.

shay33.jpg

Italy unified 18th February, 1845, due to Garibaldi. Depending on how powerful it becomes in relation to Venice it could be a world power.

Verona has no Italian core as it has German culture.

shay34.jpg

Aha! The Shaybanid Mughal Emperor has agreed to take on limited powers with the parliament started up. Hopefully this will herald a new age of prosperity.

shay35vey.jpg

The first elections are held and guns are invented (they took their time…)

Italy has shot up to #7. They'll become a GP after six months, and Venice is teetering on the edge of GP/SP.

I will conclude this update here. I don't want to extend it.

If Venice does drop from the GP list and Italy spheres it I think they can annex it, making them even more of a threat.

Your industrial score looks pretty good for 1845. How's everyone else doing in that regard?

Looking smooth. Good to see the industrialization take off like that early on.
