Czechs in Slovenia?

I've heard somewhere that was a bug and that Czechs should have been added as an accepted culture for Slovakia, which isn't too far away from the spelling of Slovenia, I suppose. Whether Czechs should be an accepted culture for Slovakia (the inter-war period of Czechoslovakia being an example of ethnic tensions between Czechs and Slovaks), is another question.

It is indeed a mistake on the part of the developers that was fixed in the 1.4 beta.

I'm new to the game, but how do I release Slovenia and play as a non-puppet? I can't seem to find any 'release puppet' button anywhere while playing as Austria. Is there a way for me as Slovenia to get rid of the puppet status?

When you release it, there should be a "Play As" option, which will let you play as Slovenia without it being a puppet.

while releasing a nation click "Play as"
that way it will be free

In addition to the "Play As" mentioned above, you release nations in Vicky 2 in the Politics tab.

Thanks for the help. I played a full game as Slovenia to kind of get the hang of the game, but I'm having some problems.

My literacy rate is at 10% when starting how can I increas it fast-ish? How do I increase my population? I only have 220k adult POP's and I'm bleeding them like crazy the random famine, desease and potato blights are killing me. What politics should I pursue? I have 0% Capitalists and about 1 % of aristocrats in my two states (Slovenia and Slovenian Istra). Should I focus on aristocrats? Or should I just go with the Clergy? How do I get clerks in my factories without using the national focus which takes years?


I have liberated several countries aswell to make the game more interesting, including: Venetia, Hungary, Croatia,Trieste, Bosnia, Oldenburg, Hungary, Bohemia, Slovakia, Ruthenia, Ukrain and some more aswell. How do I increase the assimilation speed? I have taken over venice and now my POP is 30 % Slovene and 65ish Italian. I will refrain from conquering if I can not increase my Accepted culture / of POP. Any way to add an accepted culture? I did take over TRIESTE since it had a 35% slovene pop.

I had a lot of rebel problems later in game including getting 30k jacobin rebels in north american colony province I got from France after defeating them in a war (humiliation and place under the sun, haha eat that france ) What exactly does conceissnes do? What political reforms should I persue? I'm heavily conservative at the start.

All the help I can get is appreciated, I'm starting a new game now and will try to increase my population and literacy asap to become and industrial powerhouse and later exapnd down to croatian istria, dalmatia and eventually the entire country. (they get gold in one of their provinces just as I do)

EDIT; I did later colonize abu dhabi, is that the way to go to increase my accepted culture POP? What is a healthy state population I should aim for? Curretnly both states are at 120kish with trieste, but The State of Slovenia only has two provinces while the state of Istria has 4.

Which version you playing?

To boost you literacy:
1) research proper tech which add
2) as most possible clergyman as possible (2%)
3) maximize education slider to max
4) conquer provinces with high population and high literacy. You can check by using "tag XXX" command(but only when game is paused).
5) enact education social reform

To get clerks:
1) first you must some factory
2) you must have some craftmen working in factory
3) high literacy help (without you can't get any clerks or even craftmen)

To increase assimilation:
1) rulling party with Full Citizenship policy will increase base assimilation rate
2) also rich population have higher chance to assimilate

To boost population:
1) conquer provinces
2) enact health care social reform
3) research "chemistry" tech
4) poor pop have higher chance to emigration from your country, and lower chance to increase their size

And about using NF -> yes it take years to impact economy/population but this requires strategic planning. Don't expect sudden changes in XIX low educated farmer country

I'm playing 1.4

I am researching the proper techs, but it's rising at a snails pace, I get up to 40% near the end of the game, I did manage to get 70% once in 1936. But It's appaling really seeing as how countries start with 40%+ and I'm starting at 11%.

I immidiatly prioritise clerksman, but it takes me like 10 years to get them to 2% of pop on both of my provinces. Any better/faster way? I Have conservatives in power and can't lower taxes any more than they already are...

I have the edu. slider maxed all the time.

4. Here is where I have problems. I can concquere provinces, but since I only have 200k POPs at the start of the game anything I concquere makes my accepted culture a minority. Should I be worried about this? Will they assimiliate over time? I did get a lot of immigrantion towards the end of the game (30% Panjab in the capital, LOL) But the major problem is immigration from one province to another so when for example I conquered venice (400k POPs) they started migrating to my home provinces and people from my provinces started migrating to theirs so I ended up with a small % of POP of accepted culture in venice and something like 20% of North italian in my home provinces. AND they are larger migrations from my provinces to the conqered ones and as a result my two home provinces loose POP size. Should I be worried about this? Should I just conqere less inhabited provinces?

But a full citizenship requires a liberal or socialist party and socialist take time to appear while liberals won't let me build facotries... I am always droping as little tax as I can on the rich and middle class and trying to go easy on the poor while still keeping a positive budget.

Problem with one is as I described earlier. My accepted POP is so small that adding any provinces to my country makes me 50% non accepted and from home provinces start emmigrating to the conqered ones and vica versa making all my provinces 50%+ non accepted culture.
2- How do I enact social reforms faster? I always have to wait for the socialists to appear and then start boosting their party loyalty in order to get enough of them. That disallows me to use NF on clerks, burecrauts and such...
I am resarching it asap in my game(s)...I played a few with Slovenia already...

I am trying to lower their taxes whenever possible...

1. In 1836 game all unaccepted cultures have lower education. Before you release Slovenia you should look at population screen, and to choose first the whole country, and then only Slovenia province. Only North/South German have 40% literacy, all other only 10%.

2. Another way is to create Slovenia from editing history/provinces, and make puppet of Austria history/diplomacy to avoid this. But I think it is something (but annoying) historical that minorities have less access to education. But in game this look that german peasant have higher education ,than slovenian officer or clergyman

3. And yes literacy increase slowly. Clergyman 2%(not clerks) + tech is only way without conquering.

4. Don't afraid minorities... If they are uncontent they can emmigrate, and if they become rebels you have soldiers without job
Italian states are worth to conquer. Balkans no...
China and Britain have 70% minorities, and can live ,so why you can't?

5. Migration between provinces in this same country is ok -> without having at least POP your primary culture others minorities can assimilate.

6. Anything I can say you have screwed parties...
Just build factories and railroads without liberals ,and don't care about other cultures.
If you have plenty of factories, and good tech(steam turbine,etc.) you pop have higher chance to be rich, than in 10% tax LF without income.

China and Britain have 70% minorities, and can live ,so why you can't?

Britain's minorities are mostly in its Indian colonies and thus don't count towards literacy.

China has so many people that it doesn't need a very high literacy to industrialise.
