Whoa, thats quite a heavy order, but fear not i'll have a look at the major ones and work something up. What i'll do is i'll take the ministers that participated in what was de jure the Republic and all its ministries and allocate them to the warlord factions etc due to their loyalties.

I finished the breakup of China's events. Ministers and tech teams are broken though, but that's expected right now.

On another note, I have decided to discontinue CCIP support for Vanilla. Future versions of CCIP will require AAR.

Are you putting in better tech teams for Nat CHI? They should get some better ones after reuniting China, regardless of the year they do so.

Yes and no.

Will I have it eventually? Yes. Will I have it in first release? No. (Unless someone helps).

Priority is:
-Finish Interwar events (there aren't that many actually, I'm around 1/3 of the way there)
-Fix starting OOB
-Add diplomacy event module (whoever controls beijing is seen as the strongest)
-Rebalance IC/starting resources/add in alternative mobilization system
-Fix ministers and leaders
-Fix techteams.
-Fix skins, graphics, country descriptions.

I would be willing to fix the tech teams for you, but I have no idea what they "should be". Personally, I think they are fine for a divided China, but a united China should have much better teams(imo, imo, imo). Equal to Italy at least(no evidence, just imo).

Oh yeah, thought i'd ask. What Id's and ID numbers for ministers and leaders would you be using for all these chinese factions? I've already got about 60 odd pics for leaders and some ministers for the different factions sorted out right now.

One of my plans for CCIP is a complete revision of ALL faction ministers so that if faction A eats faction B, faction B's ministers become available for A. What this means is that every faction will have ALL Chinese ministers defined within their file, but only certain ones will be "woken" via event. In terms of contributing to ministers, put everything inside UCH's minister list (you can make a copy of ministers_UCH.csv and name it ministers_UCH.bak to keep the reference of old ministers). Ideally, the master list of all Chinese ministers would split the minister ids by faction.

1325XXX is the minister ID's in AAR for UCH, and since I'm adding an extra number to my IDs. I'm thinking something like the following, but feel free to make your own system (just document it somewhere). Duplicates are fine (probably will be many due to the overlapping possibilities of ministers in various factions) since it will be managed via events. Names for ministers should be in Pinyin/Mandarin (my arbitrary decision).

Limith this looks great. Few people have any idea how complicated things were in the first third of the 20th century. This will really add a lot. It is so hard to get China right at this time. The entire Japanese army had 17 divisions when the 37 war started. They were able to to grab large chunks of China even so. I was interested in this long before I moved here. I look forward to your work. I have been playing the Mod and the AAR scenario both a lot and it works pretty well. There are some balance issues and some events do not fire all the time but, it is a really great Mod. Thanks Burning for all your efforts.

PS- Commenting out the Commonwealth event fixed the crash that I was getting only in the Mod. The AAR works fine.

If anyone wants to help with research, this is what I have so far.

@ delanonne: If you live in Chongqing, would you perhaps, be able to help find a website/source that lists China's Order of Battles through the interwar period? (Basically what the army consisted of). I can't find one in English, and my understanding of Chinese is relatively limited since I grew up in the US since three years old. I have a source somewhere on my computer for 1936-1942, so the second world war is fine. I can go look through my University archives in Berkeley, California, but I doubt they would have much information on it.

are we working in pinyin or wade giles, because i tend to go for pinyin lol??? and i'll have problems turning them into wad giles translation.

Pinyin.

DH place names is in Pinyin, I speak Mandarin, I'm not going to be using Wade-Giles for a mod if I don't speak Cantonese (sorry Yue yu speakers, Wo zhi dong pu tong hua :p). If someone wants to work on a Cantonese version, they can.

thanks, i prefer saying Zhang Zuolin instead of Chang Tso-lin lol. I'm working hard got probably more than 100 ministers right now divided into general Republic (as in Beiyang govt.), the Hongxian government, Qing restoration, National Protection Army (which is then divided into the different provinces with their military/civil governors allotted accordingly) and then the Fengitne, Anhui and Zhili clique. There are probably more than a fair few pics that are duplicate throughout it but i felt that it was better to do that so i'd remember who did what and take that into account when doing files for them lol.

Oh and in regards to where to place them on the ideological spectrum, unsure what would be acceptable to use for any of them, like PA for Yuan Shikai, or SD for Sun Yat-sen etc etc as in the original UCH files.

Oh and in regards to where to place them on the ideological spectrum, unsure what would be acceptable to use for any of them, like PA for Yuan Shikai, or SD for Sun Yat-sen etc etc as in the original UCH files.

If they served in the Monarchy system or was pro-central government, PA (Yuan Shikai, Jiang Jieshi)
If they were active in revolution movements in the south (or north), then SD/SL/ML/SC.
If they were chosen due to nepotism/corruption, should be PA
Wang Jingwei requires some careful consideration, he went from SD to FA through his career (funnily enough, Jiang Jieshi went from FA to SC). The Wuhan government was SD/LWR
Moderate Communists should be LWR (the ones who were executed by Jiang Jieshi)
Shanxi was pro-communist, so possibly SL/ML ministers (but the warlord himself should be PA)
Old Guangxi Clique should be PA
Old Yunnan Clique (Cai E) should be SC.
New Yunnan Clique should be PA
New Guangxi Clique should be ML
San Ma was very anti-communist, so definitely PA/FA
Anhui Clique was nepotist, PA
Zhili Clique was nepotist with a mix of occasional dissenting people from other ideologies (roughly the "opposition"), PA with maybe mixes of SC or FA

Sun Zhongshan is a SD, no doubt about it.

I'll take a look through the ministers myself later, but as long as the above rules are taken into consideration, whatever grouping should be fine (and you can use the UCH/CHI/CYN/CGX/etc. files as a reference if you are unsure, it can't be worse than vanilla, eh?)

PS- Commenting out the Commonwealth event fixed the crash that I was getting only in the Mod. The AAR works fine.

Great :)

Event/Leader/Team/Minister Ids?
Feel free to pick anything which has a prefix of 133xxxxx...
Regarding the Event ids: could you please keep them in one single range? It's hard to extend some event chain, if its Event-IDs are distributed across numerous ranges.
China currently uses the range 133011xx(xxx...) So, if you run out of 133011xx IDs, just append a number or two. You might also want to use an additional identifier for various nations.

This is how event ids are organized in the mod: 133-011-815-7
  • whereas 133 is the mods id-range (prefix),
  • 011 determines the module (eg: economic/great depression, China, Germany, ...) )
  • 815(or more digits) is the event
  • 7 could be used to determine the splinter fraction, revolter or warlord

Hey Limith I have some information for you about the size of the Chinese army at various times. I still need to type it all up though. How would you like me to get it to you? There is some good info on total numbers of units and troops but, no good OOBs at all. I spent a lot of hours going through books and articles. It should help. There is some good info on the Commies.

PS You can PM me if you like and I can give you my email.

in terms of sorting out the different cabinets etc for China (uch tag), i've stumbled across a problem. I am not sure how to reconcile the actual Beijing cabinet with what you want in terms of china 'under *insert here* faction'. The problem is that despite the victory and defeat of some warlord factions like Anhui or Zhili etc they still had ministers and politicians in the Beijing government, for example Feng Guozhang was Zhili but president 1917-1918 during the so-called Anhui domination, or Duan Qirui, anhui general, was made chief executive (president) by Zhang Zuolin of the Fengtien clique after he defeated Zhili in 1924. So the best i can do with that is basically do the cabinet chronologically with headings at the top, e.g. Anhui domination 1916-1921
