Planning to divide the island, I wonder...?;)

Chapter XXXVIII: Fortress Europe (February 1961 – June 1961)

First air recon missions revealed that the atlantic wall was better garrisoned than expected.

On February 17th, CSA troops captured New Caledonia in the south pacific. The Union of Britain capitulated.

Recon missions deeper into France revealed an even more concerning picture

After nearly a quarter of a century of warfare, the population of the CSA started showing signs of war exhaustion. It was regarded as necessary to end the war by 1964, preferably earlier. Therefore, a massive invasion was planned. At the start, all known troop concentrations in France would be attacked with nuclear warheads. Immediately after this, 5 corps consisting of divisions each would invade 5 selected areas (which had previously been nuked).

The harbors of Cherbourg and Le Havre would not be nuked – they were the landing areas for 3 Airborne Divisions each.

Once one of these harbors would fall, 4 additional transport task forces transporting 9 divisions each would set sail into that harbor. It was hoped that the shock of 12 hydrogen bombs would paralyze the French military, enabling a few quick pocket battles to reduce the strength of the French army to a level where the CS Army, supported by the CS air forces from Britain, would be able to roll over the French hexagone.

The CS Navy – back to 7 carrier groups with 4 carriers each – would basically close the English channel.

On April 21st, Bulgaria declared war against France – it looked as if they would want to join in the last moment to be on the side of the victors. Remembering Bulgaria’s previous treachery when it declared war on the CSA, the decision was made to let the internationale overrun Bulgaria. In case that the international would try to invade Turkey (after the fall of Bulgaria), the 8 CSA Divisions already in the border region would conduct a fighting retreat to Istanbul and hold that position until the end of the war.
Nonetheless, the invasion plans for France were postponed.

csa0265.jpg

A few days later, a serious setback occurred as the CS Navy lost 2 CVs, 2 BBs and several smaller units in a surprise encounter with the French fleet.

csa0266.jpg

The reaction was a major hunt for the French Battle Fleet.

Two days later, the Internationale started another attack against the CS Navy.

The battle ended with three of the four German CV’s sunk.

As always, American IC is awesome.

Chapter XXXIX: The invasion of France (July/August 1961)

On July 23rd, the invasion started – on a much smaller front than originally planned and without nuclear weapons:

csa0270.jpg

Cherbourg was taken by 3 Airborne divisions. The CSA immediately landed the bulk of it’s invasion force there. At Le Havre, a single French division opposed the airborne assault.
Bayeux and Caen were stormed by CSA Marines, but resistance was strong.

2 armored corps (each with two armored and one motorized divisions) quickly advanced to Rennes, thereby cutting off the several French units around Brest

On August 7th, Paris was liberated.

csa0274.jpg

Less than two weeks later, Flanders was overrun

csa0275.jpg

On August 27th, Brittany, Normandy, Flanders and Wallonia became new members of the totalist world.

By Late August, the CSA had advanced into the German Union and advanced towards Wilhelmshaven.

Nice work Roland. I am doing it as MacArthur now. My next KR campaign I will keep America a democracy. That should be real fun.

Chapter XXXX: Germany (September/October 1961)

With the advance into Germany, Switzerland was a threat to the flank of the CSA advance.

csa0277.jpg

Meanwhile, the CSA was able to cut off a large part of the German Army in Hannover.

csa0278.jpg

After the Fall of Switzerland, the combined forces of the Commune of France and the Socialist Republic of Italy managed to stop the advance in northern Italy.

csa0280.jpg

A few days later, Berlin was captured (after a very short siege).

csa0281.jpg

On October 19th, Occitania became another independent, totalist nation.

csa0282.jpg

Ten days later, Denmark, Ireland and Wales followed.

By late October, Germany was nearly completely overrun.

Chapter XXXXI: The End(November 1961 – April 1962)

To speed up the collapse of the Internationale, on November 17th, the Soviet Union joined the war.

csa0284.jpg

Eventually, the German Union capitulated on November 26th (after the last hideouts in the Pacific had been taken).

On November 30th, the United Duchy, Lithuania and Prussia became independent, Totalist Nations

csa0285.jpg

On December 5th, Austria was annexed.

At the end of December, Hungary and the Commune of France were invaded from the east and the west.

csa0286.jpg

On January 18th, the North German Federation and the Rhenish Republic became independent, totalist states.

After a long struggle (and several nukes), Hungary capitulated on February 19th.

Eventually, the Commune of France capitulated on March 3rd.

csa0287.jpg

A great day for world totalism

The Socialist Republic of Italy was the last Bastion of the Internationale. As the front in Northern Italy was nearly static, an invasion of Sicily was started.

csa0290.jpg

With the Internationale annihilated and only few non-totalist Nations left, the CSA has succeeded securing world peace.

@Son of Liberty:
That sounds interesting. By "playing as MacArthur", do you suspend the 1936 elections?

@loki100:
I have no idea what happend but I regret that you had to intervene two times in this AAR - I didn't want to create trouble with this AAR. Thanks for your work.

Yep, no elections if he assumes power and decides to suspend them. You also get the option of going more authoritarian by suspending the Constitution. It looks like we are following the same path, so I may just have to paint the world blue instead of releasing puppets. ;)
