Another mix of good and pathetically bad moves from the AI. I hope that the devs will make it more aware of threats of encirclements. The fact that its units are retreating towards the coastline instead of withdrawing inland is a joke - even HOI3 AI is usually smart enough to withdraw troops from death traps. If the Chinese AI keeps losing units that way, then they will never be a big challenge for a human player. And come on, is prioritising the capital really that hard? I don't think I'm asking for too much, as such mistakes are simply childish.
However, the way the AI is counter-attacking you is quite impressive. It tries to find a weak spot and attacks when you don't have enough troops in a given region, so that you are either forced to stop your offensives or lose some provinces. The way the AI is threatening Changzhou and Jinan is also impressive, even if a little risky (but no risk = no gain).
