Hearts of Iron 2 Armageddon, Arsenal of Democracy, or Darkest Hour?

What are the differences?

Thanks

There should be a sticky vividly explaining the differences between the 3, and how to install

They all run a little differently.

DH: Pros: Can be run without installing it over the base game. DH makes it very easy to navigate the tech screen, as it's the only game that tells you prerequisites for technology if one of them is under a different branch. Occasionally get unique 'decisions' that help balance the game somewhat.
Cons: IC doesn't take how DH's gold production works into account. That is, you will amass large amounts of gold very quickly that is pretty useless. Also you can't choose how much energy to convert into oil, only if you turn the conversion on or off.

AOD: Pros: Ten tech slots (if you edit the file, though you can do this in DH too if you want). Harder game because of how infrastructure works. (You have to spend IC to raise lost infrastructure quicker, and infrastructure can be raised to 200 in a province, giving production bonuses that may ultimately be more efficient than building new factories.) Trading is a bit easier than in DH, and having enough money will always be a problem making managing the economy feel a bit more balanced in difficulty than the usual 'spam factory building until a year or two before the war begins' strategy. Can set oil/rare conversion how you like.
Cons: You have to install it over the base game and can only play 'vanilla' AOD by uninstalling. If you're unfamiliar with the tech chart, you'll need to re-window to the application that tells you all the prerequisites constantly. How exactly the production/economy management is different and how infrastructure vs. IC production works might alienate players unfamiliar with it.

They both have their good points, but the tech tree help and the option to play other versions of DH from the launcher make DH my slighty-higher preference.

I also would say DH, since its got more features(features which can be modded or values that can be changed, like upto 50 tech teams lol). The main reason i like it on DH is the claim province option. It is really good for expanding into non cores but without having to fight for them. Its always nice as china to claim Hong Kong back even tho china signed it over for 99 years. Its also nice because of the reasons above, specially since you can still choose to play DH Full, Light and ironcross on the same "copy", no multiple installation copies necessary.
