I am Austria and I need Liquor for Guards and the auto trade wasn't getting enough for me so I turn it off and manually order 200 units (out of 206) and the max number doesn't change, and I don't get any. So I'm asking what am I doing wrong?

Yes, could my controlling faction have anything to do with it?

No, at the moment everybody seems to be short on liquor. You can "fix" it by having #1 in prestige. I've also discovered that by making your POPs unable to afford to buy it will increase the supply available for your government (raise taxes and tariffs, and cut all administration, education, social assistance and military funds). After about a few days you will have all the liquor you need, and then you can put everything back to normal.
would that work for canned food? There seems to be a world-wide shortage in my game.
I just leave all necessary commodities with "Buy 2000 Units", and in the long-term, as long as you're industrializing/moving-up-in-GP-ranking, it seems to take care of the problem. I've even been able to build tanks and planes in my current Uruguay game.
Short-term and/or if you can't industrialize/move-up, I don't know a good workaround, or even if this is WAD, in which case I'd suck it up and deal with it. Does anyone know if PI plan to address this in a future patch or even consider it a problem?
