I already know that this will piss me off to no end.

Damn them! We already had the perfect system to make this work, outlined here in the forum. Why did they not choose it????

The idea was to have the name lists contain not just the native spelling of a name but also a "reference" spelling, which would be used to determine the regal numbering. I.e. the french name list would have a line that said

Henri ; Henricus

and the English name ist would have a line that said

Henry ; Henricus

So that you could have a succession going like this: Henri II - Henry III - Henri IV.
