"clicking" on your mouse wheel is the general set-up for a middle mouse button these days.
Like I said, "have to change the mappings." ;)

there is a new setting available that will be useful sometimes. if you change debug_saves in settings.txt to a number (1 for every month. 0 means off) it will automatically create saves that dont get overwritten by newer ones like regular autosaves. useful if you want a record of a long game, although it uses quite a lot of disk space with all those saves so mostly useful for AAR writers and modders.

I REALLY think we should have a sticky(?) for Tips/Hints/ TidBits...and the area cleaned up by Moderators, so the points are up to date etc. because I have to say this:

Playing HOI3... Darkest Hour... jumping from one Paradox title to another is a totally daunting task... I have to somehow REMEMBER what works in one game .. and not in another... example: Supply is paramount in SF/FOTM(?) ... but not in Dh.

I haven't played SF.. for nearly a year now... been playing HOI2... and excellent it has been... but today, trying to get back into FOTM .. my head hurts....

Would this be possible?

Here's a good tip I haven't seen anywhere else.

Paraphrasing Darkrenown from another thread:

How to remove the fractured govt. modifier - It's due to parties wanting cabinet seats. Check the popularity graph on the politics screen ( the tooltip will note how many cabinet positions are desired by each party) and assign ministers as needed.

I am relatively new to the HOI3 family and there is much I do not know regarding the finer points of this game. I noticed for example, that there are 12 text files in the log folder with only 5 of them with any contents. When I first played HOI3, I thought there would be a history log of all the game messages in the message.txt file but sadly nothing ever gets written there. Was this particular file a carryover from earlier HOI editions? Is it possible to use a command line parameter to force logging? For me, that would help me analyze my decisions and outcomes to improve my game. Just a thought....

I'm pretty sure this is new, I don't remember anything happening when you mouse'd over your flag in SF. Anyway, very convenient way to see all your countries modifiers.

Would it be possible to have an ongoing, downloadable - electronic manual that would be comprehensive, thorough, explanatory & updated as things are patched, features added and things change???

I'll tell you what, the drag and drop deployment into the OOB editor is just too cool for school!

That's a nice reformed Roman Empire you have going there TerminusStop.

And to keep on topic, the new country modifiers list is very handy.

Question:
Why should this even really matter for Germany when there are no possible ministers to assign that are NOT Fascist or Nat'l. Socialist?? The Democrats or Communists "deserve" seats but there are no individuals of that ilk to assign...

>> and indeed, in a one party system like seen in Germany or USSR, should not this "Fractured Government" effect be deactivated anyway?

An easy fix would restrict the "deserved" seats to political groups that are selectable with the current government type.

The whole point here is that the parties in question have been able to gain sufficient popularity that they do deserve the seats, but the government in question won't allow them to have them.

Use the Support Ruling Party spy mission, and ministers that do the same thing. If you aren't ruthless enough to suppress the dissidents then they are going to cause problems for you...just look at North Africa and the Middle East for what happens when a government doesn't suppress the opposition.
