I have a (possibly nooby ) question about factories. In my game as the Two Sicilies the AI has created a number of canned food, explosive and cannon factories but they are losing money. My question is are they still of some use to the nation? Are they providing good to my nation and thats why they are not turning a profit? And is there any way to stop the computer doing this?
Thanks :D

They are likely to turn profitable if you turn warlike.
In the meantime just don't subsidise them and they will sack workers down to the level where they become profitable, or close completely.

Ok so how do i get my industry up? I have built like 15 factories in my home countries (Two Sicilies) 14 of them are not getting there needs so they cant run. I have changed my government so i cant build factories since i think that means itll build them on their own? And i have set two of my NF for enforcing capitalist. Its 1903 and i only have 105 industry, the #8 GP has 1200 and its chile. How do i get a good jump on it in early game so i can become a GP. Because i usually set my first NF to soldiers so i can get my military up.

Ok, I have a new question.

What determines what the war score requirement is for certain war goals?

Playing a game as Japan, control almost all of the pacific (except some of Australia and New Zealand). I declare war on peru to have some land over there, demand their southernmost territory. I start fighting, blockaid them, smash their navy... I look at the requirement for peace with acquiring it... and the score requirement was 250+ How is that even possible? a war score requirement of 200+ for a single province?! I took New York from the USA in a game as England and it was no where near then that.

Which provinces do you need to take from Russia as Prussia to get your borders back to where they where during the third polish partition?
You can't get them back to exactly where they were by in-game means, because you can only take territory from another country one state at a time, and the state boundaries are incorrect for achieving such a thing. To take the obvious example: the Third Partition gave Lublin to Austria and Warsaw to Prussia. Those places are both in the same state in-game.

I'm playing as brazil, my first game, trying to increase immigration. I already implemented all the political changes available with the liberal ruling party (bright yellow), but have not been able to implement any social policies. There are tons of jobs available but I'm not getting any immigrants. I was the #8 great power for a while from lots of prestige but the CSA knocked me down to 9 when they formed.

-What do I have to do to increase immigration?
-Is it better to influence voters towards the socialist party or should I just keep the liberals? (the planned economy sounds like too much micromanaging)
-how do I change to a democracy government type? (I heard that increases immigration dramatically)

Avoid unemployment.
Only if you want to build factories. You can (and should) just appoint them if you want. You are a monarchy so you don't have to have them voted in.
Let Jacobin rebels hold your capital for a year.

I'm playing PDM and the US keeps beating me in industrial terms even though I've been using formidable rivals (France, Germany, Russians). The most vexing is when, even with a higher population the US always had me beat. Even when I was Laissez-faire and the US was too, they seemed to beat me, with higher industry/POP than I did. On a related note they've also beat my Germany in military terms despite my higher soldier POPs and completely up-to-date military tech. Does the navy make a big difference? In short, is there an explanation for why the US fares so well, in military but above economy, punching above its weight in population?

You should ask in the PDM forums.

Ok, what is the deal with the AI and not really caring about their own war goals?

I start a game as the USA and decide 'I'm going to take some land from mexico as well as free Texas. I start fighting blah blah. I notice the UK goes to war with mexico as well for Yucatan. I think GREAT they will help! They take massive tracks of land in southern mexico, beat their armies. Suddenly I look, white peace... the UK was trampling them. Does the AI just auto accept white peace from other AI or something?

How does one get another national focus? I am playing as Italy and I only had one nf. I was upset cause I couldn't colonize Africa as fast as France. And afte do many colonies made I just got another one randomly. How does this happen?

It's based on two things: the number of people in your primary culture and your techs. You can't do a whole lot about the first, and the NF track is a limit (i.e. max of 5) but doesn't guarantee you'll get them. AHD has suggested that any accepted cultures will count towards NF, but in vanilla, there's not much you can do as a small country.
