Also, what is a good alternative from downloading in Program Files? Because I can't modify EU3 because "access is denied", and I was told it was because it was because I got it in Program Files.
Many people use C:/Games.
There is no such folder on my computer... is it not on Windows 7 or something?
You make one yourself.
Thanks. Now, do you know the answer to my first question?
Are you supposed to get AHD as if it was a separate game? Should I just buy it from Amazon like I did the base game?

You need to clear your flag-cache, which is about 10 files each starting with flagfiles_ . It's either

(a) in the same place as your map-cache, but instead of going to the map/cache folder go to the gfx/flags folder. (this if you installed it in C:/Program Files or on a mac)

or

(b) your install location/gfx/flags (otherwise).
OK, I tried that. It still didn't work. Mind that I am using APD so I cleared the cache in the main vicky folder since there wasn't anything in the mod folder. Also, when you say "clear", do you mean "delete"? In the past I have screwed up many things by deleting the map cache and I just want to make sure.

Ah, the reason we have this thread, lol.

1. Industrialization is raised by more craftsmen building more goods worth more money. You need to increase literacy, build factories, research efficiency techs, build raolroads, build stuff in other countries (foreign investment), encourage capitalists if you don't want to do all this yourself. You'll need to provide a consumer base for all your goods of course, which is where diplomacy and the military come in. Conquer colonies, and secure the rare resources you need to produce rare goods.

2. Raise the military spending slider as high as you can. Use your NF points. Conquer colonial states. Not much else you can do.

3. Reforms are hard. For some countries. Do whatever you can to ramp up conciousness and militancy. Use your own war exhaustion if you have to. Infamy will also help. However, these will raise only political reforms. Social reforms (the ones you really want) only come from high militancy. Lose some wars, get some socialists, and raise your taxes.

4. Socialism is good for illiterate countries you want to ubermicromanage. LIberalism is better for large literate countries that can industrialize themselves.

5. NF points. Taxing farmers. Taxing laborers. Literacy >40%.

Alright, I somehow managed to build my country up. But I am a dominion or satellite of the Otomans (yes, I play with Wallachia), how can I declare war on someone? Or not be their satellite?

The only war you can declare is against the ottomans themselves. If, and only if you win, you will be able to declare war on other countries normally.

A change of government will break your ties with them also.

Two fairly stupid questions, apologies in advance.

If I'm trying to turn a colony into a state, and it can only happen with 1.0 bureaucrats of my accepted culture, is the only real way to accomplish that to put a Bureaucrat NF somewhere in my home territory, and then a immigrate NF in my colony? I was just raising bureaucrats before, but then I noticed that they had to be of the accepted culture.

Also, I've started both a winery and a cement factory, in two different regions. The winery is getting significantly more workers employed than the cement factory (even taking into account NF, and switching it around, etc). Do factories in mountainous regions not employ as well? Is it easier to work in a winery because you can dip your head in a vat now and again? Sorry for the stupid question.

If deleting the map cache has caused problems in the past then you might well be looking in the wrong place - double-check that C:/Your name here/AppData/Local/VirtualStore/Paradox Interactive/Victoria 2 doesn't exist, assuming you're using Windows. If it does, then there will be another map-cache there in gfx/flags which needs deleting.

Where can i change game's end date? forgot it.

common/defines.lua.

???????

Never mind, it's been fixed now. Another question: how do you have making factories make progress? I've been trying to build a factory for quite a while now, and it's stuck at 730 days for when it will be done.

The factory cannot build because you do not have the resources to build it. you have the money yes, but no the cement/machine parts etc. As soon as you order the construction of a factory, these resources will begin to be bought up on the world market. Often, this can be painfully slow....it may even take years.

Avoid this problem my manually sotckpiling strategic resources from the get go.
