For the NGF you need all North German provinces to be either owned by you or in your sphere; and for Germany you only need those provinces with German Empire cores. You don't need to take anything from Austria, but sphering them before forming Germany will enable you to annex them, and hence form Grossdeutschland.

It's the only way to get a Democracy if you don't start with one. If you want a Socialist or Communist government, not just a Socialist or Communist RP, that's also the only way to go.

You can get a socialist govenment quite easily without a rebellion. Communist is also possible possible but its far easier to get by rebellion that election.

Thanks bro... I took another look and it seems like Austria took over part of Denmark while I was at war with them and Austria controls part of Holstein. I will have to go to war with them after all I guess. Shouldn't be too hard I hope.

Warning, when in dept?

Is it possible to get a message, when your are going to take loans?
TIA

In the top left corner, in the "Budget" box, you can see your current balance. There's no popup associated with it, except for bankruptcy.

Too bad. Together with this Repay-Loan-Slider-Bug it is a bit annoying. I don't know, how to do it, but maybe someone out there could mod this?

Can only France get Madagascar or can anyone who's sphered it have the event?

is there a general clerks/craftsmen ratio rule?

noticed i'm around 146/21866 in my glass factory

A full factory does best with 20% clerks. The less full it is, the less clerks do for it, and at lower occupancy levels you gain more output by adding craftsmen rather than clerks.

Clerks are much more important for their research boost than their industry output boost.

When you occupy a province, it seems to me, that the speed of occupation does not depend on the amount of troops in the province, right?

Actually, it does ... and it is more based on Recon. Recon helps siege. Airplanes good ... irregular infantry, bad.

To add to this: it isn't necessarily that twice as many troops make you recon twice as fast, which may be why it doesn't seem as fast as it should. But trust me (and the_Hussar) it is a significant difference.

How on earth do I check my infamy?
In the diplomacy screen. Click on yourself in the nation list, then click on the "Wars" tab at the top. The right-side panel will now show your infamy (ragged red flag), war exhaustion (guy with bandaged head), total ships, and total brigades.

What are good unit ratios (INF:CAV:ART) in armies? Playing my first game I realized I was building armies around EU3 rules. I suspect they are somewhat different in VIC2.

For the purpose of maximizing impact are Dragoons and Cav equivalent (although perhaps differing in quality)?
