I had it happen In My AAR as well it's far more likely with a strong national socialist party in Poland. After it is Silesia or war which is similar and then Alcase Lorrane or War which always results in war

Its a pity there isnt a (very small) chance of France accepting if they were a national socialist country and if Germany had a large enough army on the border. As in say 0.5% or something just to make it more interesting. Just discovered you need to trigger the alsace lorrraine decision to get the cores on that region.

Today during our struggle against the Polish nation our ‘gallant’ allies the Germans whilst trying to give air support to our troops in Poland ‘accidentally’ bombed our troops as well. After many apologies from our allies it has been agreed that they would no longer assist our troops in the conquest of our common enemy. Long live mother Russia.

yeh not getting Italy into the Axis is probably a big mistake unless you plan to puppet them as you can't get the 2 related modifiers which are quite nice.
i was going to get them into the axis origionally but decided to do things differently(i usually get them in the axis when i play). I havent decided if i will puppet them or annex them yet. ill decide when the surrender event triggers.

Adolf “completely destroyed the trapped units? That is good. Well what else has happened?”
Ludwig “On 12/3/40 the Fins chose to give the Russians what they asked for. Today has had other things happen. We sunk the Athenia, but are blaming the Brits. We have signed a long term trade agreement with Russia and we have started to allow people from the occupied countries to join the wehrmacht.”
Adolf “That’s an excellent idea let these foreigners die for our cause and allow more Germans to survive.”
