I recently bought the complete HOI3, including Semper Fi and Dies Irae. I downloaded and installed each patch as I went along loading each part. I am running Patch 2.04 for Semper Fi. I am having an issue with getting saved games to work. The saved game will load, but then it crashes a few seconds later. It appears it is only with loaded game files from after 1940....

I tried looking for and altering the "sunk_ships" portion of the saved game file, as I saw recommended elsewhere for a similar problem. However, that did not work.

Can you please help? ....it takes so long to get a game going, if I cannot load saved games, the game is just not worth it.

Thanks.

Are you sure you have the latest patch for SF? (One of 2.04d, 2.04e or 2.04f. Since they're compatible). Although 2.04f is recommended.
Patches can be found here. (Link)

Surrender events??

I took most of the important cities in amsterdam and belgium, however they have not capitulated yet. I still havent taken dunkerque or brugg because allies just keep landing stacks and stacks of units and for some reason as my attack presses around 50% it will just stop with a loss of all org from the attacking units...

France has fallen to me yet i have not receieved an offer from italy yet..

Whats the deal?

Amsterdam is a city in The Netherlands. For the surrender events in DiG you need to capture Amsterdam and Rotterdam (Netherlands) and Brussels and Antwerp (Belgium).

You won't get one, invite them to the Axis on your own and later call them to arms.

Quick question regarding DI:G
I started "Supporting Our Party" in the USA in January of '36. It's now January 1941. I have seen no US election event announcing the winner of the election which should have occurred in November 1940. My party should have easily won (I was looking to get USA into the Axis). Has DI:G altered the election event in some way? A little frustrating I can't search the events via the ledger and confirm if the election took place.

I was running 2.04c... for some reason 2.04d does not appear to be available through Gamersgate. Last night, I downloaded 2.04f from the forums. Then, I reapplied the DI DLC. Now the game crashes during play... (Before the issue was related to trying to load saved games from after 1940). Last night, the game crashed just as Hilter took over the Army.... (I think, its called the Fritsch Affair).

This is really frustrating because I like the game and the DI DLC... if someone has a fix I would really appreciate the help.

Availability through Gamersgate could be due to the fact that they're not official but rather beta releases of the patches.

What's checksum are you getting? (To ensure that there's no problem there) Other than that, I guess you'll have to wait for a reply from Devildread.

Search and control in the save game, you'll want to check under "usa=" for "last_election="1936.1.1.0" (Or whatever date it might say), and see if there's been an election and if so, at what date. There you can also see if the country actually do have elections. "election=yes" if it's a democracy or "election=no" if the country got fascism. And not far below you can also find the statistic for the different parties, their organisation and popularity (Although it could be a bit tricky, the second number should be your National Socialist party). Other than that, you could also check and see which government that is ruling, little bit further down you can find "government=social_liberalism" (Or whatever government that is ruling).

(Sorry if it's a bit messy, ask if you wonder about anything).

Bug Report

So, weird sitation here. I've been playing DI:G as Germany on hard since 1938. I took out Poland, Low Countries, France, Yugoslavia, and Greece. In May 1941 I attacked Russia.

It has been epic and fairly difficult. I was able to conquer Leningrad using an amphibious invasion but otherwise my offensive had been slow and painful. I'd conducted 4 mass encirclements, with each yielding between 250,000 and 500,000 prisoners in each. Despite that, I hadn't reached Moscow or anywhere close to Stalingrad by the end of 1942.

The big crippler was that I was literally having to spend every IC (aside from some for reinforcements and consumer goods) on supplies. I didn't have a spare IC for upgrades or new units. Even then, I needed between 400 and 600 IC on supplies but was only able to dedicate some 250-300. So, I had MASSIVE supply problems. As a consequence of being out of supply, many of my units would lose all their ORG and the Russians would attack. It was quite a hary situation for a while. It was all I could do to hold the line.

Then 1943 arrived, and I was able to change my occupation level from total to military government for the Russian territory I had conquered. This drastically reduced my supply needs, down to 1/3 of what they were before. Suddenly, the game got easy.

I was able to take Moscow fairly quickly. However, here is the frustrating part.

Russia is conducting a massive withdrawal of all its forces to Finland!!!!!!! (which it had previously conquered) There is barely anything left in front of my forces, while there are numerous, massive Russian armies either running to Finland or staying in Finland.

The reason can't be the new location of the Russian capital, because that moved in teh opposite direction, to Stalingrad, after I conqured Moscow.

Further, I checked the theaters, and that isn't the problem. The proper theater is set up against me and it contains almost all the military forces. Another thing is that most of the Russian units have no organization.

Okay, sorry for the confusion... but I was running 2.04d when the saved game crash issue I mentioned above occurred. It is available through Gamersgate... however, the launcher told me something different and I didn't think to check the bottom left corner of the screen once the game was loaded. I uninstalled the entire game, reloaded HOI3 + Semper Fi + Patch 2.04d + DI DLC.... the checksum I got is "IDBA." Is that correct?

Hi DevilDread,

I guess you're really busy (no replies from you yet...^^). I was wondering if the bug cannot be fixed, is it possible for me to transfer most of the DI:G graphics files

to Vanilla folder or to HPP folder? In other words, can I combine DI:G graphics with HPP core files (I mentioned this before but now I am desperate.) without causing errors?

What I want to combine are

- loading screens
- menu interface
- game top bar with the DI:G text (e.g. diplomacy, production, technology, etc.)
- All the skins within each tab
- Map appearance

I tried to copy everything within interace folder in DI:G GFX folder and paste it in Vanilla interface folder. But it caused some text overlays that made it visually unattractive. I need to remove those text overlays.

Another thing is what would happen if I copied the DI:G Infantry model picture and replaced the Vanilla one?
(Would the awards system still work? Would it remove the grey boxes problem?)

Thanks again,

I am playing Germany, its 1944, and I have won in the east, and took India, and North Africa. Then all of a sudden, 100 or so of my Provinces suddenly become American... They are in the middle of the land, with no airborn units there or anything... (even with airborn they should not be able to be so deep in my empire... What the hell happened?

I have btw. the latest beta patch for DIG, no other mods or anything else for that matter modified.
Sorry if this is not quite the right place to post it... wasnt sure were else.

This is the right place, please upload a savegame BEFORE this to happen if possible. Otherwise it will be a mess to duplicate it.
