Glad you got it straightened out, kununguaq. I currently have HOI3/SF/Vanilla, HOI3/SF/DiG, HOI3/I.C.E., AoD Vanilla, AoD CORE, DH Vanilla, DH with IC. Most of them have the nice graphics mods, too. FTM I am waiting. Now I am tempted to try Aod/IC.

Actually, I am amazed at the ease of getting all this done. On the forums, you hear mostly problems, which is natural. Best to you!

Thank you! Well, there is a world of interesting mods I look forward to try. I think FTM is strangely deterministic in the outcome. I really like that resources are more important now (realistic), but too many of them are from 36 in the Allies corner or near so the end result is almost certain. I think just placing the countries abit more in the centre would help somewhat. SF with ICE, Black ICE or this one is more fun now!

This is my first game with this mod solittle experience with this mod! Im a bit surprized to see Rep Spain wipe out Nat Spain fast! (I supperted nat spain as Germany). Now I have Nat China completely in my diplomatic corner and for more than a year (now its Sept 39) and still "Impossible" to get them into axis (Button yellow and all). All support and confirmation towards Nat China was done. Now Japan has pressed nat china to the edge of their territory and will likely wipe them out soon. Japan is sliding towards Allies... Except for Hungary, through event - I have not been able to get anyone into my fraction. And Im nice, not fighting and trading with all. I havent looked through all the pages here and this has maybe just been bad luck. I use the version from GG without patches. Looks great! Like the many unique units! And awards thing - childish but fun!

If you don't patch DI:G to the latest Semper Fi-compatible DI:G-patch (which is 1.03) then that could be the cause of your China problem I suspect. In version 1.03 you get an event letting you invite them to the Axis powers once you have confirmed the Sino-German Agreement enough times and reached good enough relations :)

I don't know about the other European powers. The 2nd Vienna Dictate never fired in my game, so I just invaded Hungary. Romania joined in January 1940 BEFORE the Bessarabia claims by the USSR. Bulgaria are moving towards the Allies :)

Oh, thank you! I assumed it was there already because on page 1 it say that it is there if coastal, medium and long range subs are in the techs. It is the v1.03 beta you mean?

Feedback on DI:G 1.03 game - continued

Genuine bugs:

A) Light Jägers don't get the benefit from Artic Warfare Equipment, but Mountaineers and normal Infantry does. Since I'd love to send Jägers to assist Finland, can I ask: Is this WAD?

B) The event which creates Italian submarines in Bordeaux says there will also be an Italian HQ - but no such unit is created anywhere. Also, none of the subs have commanders?

C) Most of the special units' counters remain "on top" when mixed with other units - the Brandenberger, Hermann Göring regiment etc. - but when the Grossdeutschland regiment is mixed with regular motorised infantry, the counter becomes that of motorised infantry, making it harder to spot among other units.

D) The German-Soviet Border Agreement of 1941 has no tooltip explaining the consequences of your choice in advance. Just like the 1939 and 1940 agreements however, it DOES show up in the Strategic Effects list - ONCE it has been implemented.

Suspected bugs and AI/events perhaps not meant to be this way:

1) Maybe it was only in the old days of Hoi2 that Yugoslavia first joined the Axis and then left again? I waited all the way until March 1941 but no events happened. Then Operation Marita became available, and I just invaded the poor sods. A few problems with this:

- After Italy's failed invasion of Greece, Italy accepted military access in Yugoslavia. At the time of my invasion, a lone Italian tank was driving around near Sarajevo, resulting in a green blob of Italian territory right in my conquered Yugoslavia once the campaign was over 2-3 weeks later

- The Greeks LOVED that Yugoslavia joined the Allies. So much so, that they LEFT Greece to go fight in Yugoslavia - abandoning their only hope (the mountaneous defence in Northern Greece). It would be nice, if the Greek AI could somehow be convinced to stay at home and put up a fight? ;)

- When I accepted Croatia as my new ally in the Axis, Croatia was NEUTRAL in the conflict with the Allies - meaning that 5-6 divisions of Greek soldiers immediately became polical refugees in Croatia, unable to return home and un-slaughterable by me? :p (Naturally, I called Croatia to arms and then slaughtered the Greeks).

2) The British, I suspect, have all left for East Africa. The only force opposing Italy in North Africa, after they dramatically pushed west to within 10 provinces of Tripoli, is a Polish brigade, 2x "Egyptian Partisans" and some British HQ's :(

- Nothing to fight the Axis in North Africa?

- Nothing to fight the Axis in Greece and Crete?

- No Royal Navy surface fleets or subs to hunt the Regina Marina and her merchants?

In almost a year of war there has been a single (1!) naval engagement between the Royal Navy and Regina Marina in the Med. And the Royal Navy does absolutely nothing to sink Axis convoys in the Med either :(

3) My lovely Afrika Korps was completely redundant. I know I commented in my last post, that Italy did not defend well after the UK got the "Prepare for Afrika Korps" event and smashed Italy in Libya. But once the war in France ended, Italy sent her 13(!) light tank divisions to North Africa and despite supply problems (not fuel problems) the Italians pushed on and reached Cairo and Alexandria in March 1941, capturing the Suez completely by May 1941. By that time, Rommel's corps had done enough sight-seeing in North Africa and been shipped back to Germany via Greece to prepare for Barbarossa.

- I would LOVE if something could be done to prevent Italy from sending that many (and that powerful) units to North Africa. It's such a bleeding shame that taking Suez is so easy and the DAK is so unnecessary (mind you, it didn't LOOK unnecessary in November 1940!!).

- Naturally, I'd also love to see the UK being more engaged in the Med - both in North Africa, at sea and in the Greek theatre. As it were, Operation Mercur was also unnecessary, because no British forces were holed up in Crete, which just surrendered with the rest of Greece... (and I love paratrooper operations as much as I love the Afrika Korps :D)

4) The level 10 RADARs in the UK means that the interceptors meant to defend the UK (I suspect) can see and try to "intercept" my interceptors over France, when I try to intercept British strategic bombers. The result is massive stacks of UK nterceptors flying to France and doing very little because of stacking penalty. I suspect the range limitations is why UK still don't attach escorts to STR, making them easy prey for my Luftwaffe :D

5) By May 1941 the Royal Navy still hasn't done much of anything. The only two subs I ever lost were during the Battle of France - to the French navy in the Bay of Biscay. Now, I have 4 LR-SS, 8 MR-SS and 6 Italian SS - and I am happy to report that the UK has a massive daily deficit in almost everything but fuel.

- I am not sure whether this is what caused North Africa to be such a push-over from lack of defending forces (none of the units in NA ever lacked supplies it seemed).

- I have read that FtM is MUCH more lethal to subs, so maybe it will be okay in the new patch, but in this game the Royal Navy does not even appear to be sending out ASW patrols to stop me :(

6) Nationalist China AI and Japanese AI has been in a stalemate on the Shanxi/Manchuria border from autumn 1939 until May 1941. I am hoping that by calling China to arms soon against both the Allies and Comintern I can shake things up a little, but I think Paradox never imagined that China could get so much help that they could actually push Japan this far back - and then the game sort of stalls? :(

Praise for DI:G
- LOVE the new events to spice up the War in the Atlantic (uboat-pens etc.)

- HATE how that fat f*** Göring is costing me money and consumer goods, but I need the damn drug-addict to get the Luftwaffe field divisions and HG Fallschirmjäger, how cruel of you :p

- LOVE how the Allies reign supreme over the skies of North Africa, making me and the Italians pay in blood for every mile of advance. It sapped my manpower and IC and I will definetly plan for SP-AA the next time I send an expeditionary corps to a place without Luftwaffe air superiority ;)

- LOVE seeing that a lot of the governments, I have sent into exile, are now actively supporting rebels and partisans in my country!

As usual, keep up the good work!

80 pages and no subforum yet? C'mon please!

Sorry if i missed it. But now that FtM is out. Is DIG gonna be rdy to compatiblity sometime in the future?

Ive seen this in France also. Huge stacks of British interceptors along with french attacking a province and only 4 of my interceptors laying waste to them. But if a huge stack of British interceptors catches my bombers its my bombers that pay the price, even with those huge stacking penalties and 2 escort interceptors.

I will be so darn happy when DIG and VP are ready for FTM. I truly HATE the
black hole at Leningrad (3 games so far). If you cannot capture it by a coup-de-main
the Russians plug 40 divisions in it and my AI theatre will send whatever it can to try
and capture it. 100,000-140,000-200,000. Even militia brigades if i pull the regulars
off. Even Romania and Bulgaria have abadoned their countries to the Russians to bring
up 40 divisions to siege it. The Russians are laughing their arses off. The one single
Rifle divisions that still has strength and org is holding a 17.1 with no effects from bombing
and 200,000 troops. I really hate the way the stacking rules work when you are attacking
from many different provinces to one. It makes no sense. These folks are not standing
in huge masses holding their rifles over the heads of the troops in front to fire. Those that
could not be involved in the actual battle should not be. All the cute messages "Shock"
and "encirclement" do nothing. This is a major problem still. In sieges alot of troops
stuck there cannot fight and have no effect on the fight and alot of troops attacking are
just support and should not have a detrimental effect upon the attack. Its a bad case
of number crunching gone wrong IMHO. Even if your a player running the country you
cannot stop all Santas little helpers from the other countries screwing up your battles.

SF 2.04F + DIG 1.03 Beta checksum VUXR. Can someone confirm?

EDIT:

How do I do if I want to change the German flag in DI? There are no individual flag files in the mod folder but only one big of size 4 mb approx. Any tips?

Any update on when the "official" patch for DI G to make it compatible with For the Motherland will be out. Does July 15 still seem reasonable. (Trying to figure out whether to start another game using FTM 3.04 patch and as a micro manager would not want to start one in vanilla and then have the DI G come out this weekend and then start all over again).

The plan is still 15th of July. May be the 18th tho as I have some IRL matters to deal with.

I recommend you to stick on 3.04 for SF because the patch will be beta and will still need some balance work (so you might end up frustrated if you encounter a bug). :)

1. swap the GER flag file in the main gfx/flags folder

2. delete the 2 flagfile files in the mod/gfx/flags folder.

3. restart the game

Kewl! The 18ths me birthday! Arr! I'll be 58! Arr...Snotballs........

In my games so far with DI, Nat Spain get wiped out very fast. I try to help them, but they loose faster than I can do anything but the event! So, then I start a new game! same thing! Also, even with the beta there I still dont get any comitment from Nat China - even with "Chose China event" (at least until I start another game!). Is it only me or? The Nat Spain units are completely out of supplies...

Congrats in advance! Im not sure if I look forward to a DI or ICE on FTM. I think there has to be a lot of balancing to make FTM less predictive. Several important aspects such as resources and convoys are more like WWII, but its a bit too certain the allies will win I think! But on the other side I think the good guys around will find ways out of it so its still interesting.

Hello,

How do you decrease the risk of diplomatic failures (on trade operations, like selling or buying resources) in DI ?

I've played Hoi3:FTM before, and found the chance/risks pretty balanced, when using diplomacy to influence, or conduct business.

In DI however, a "likely" chance fails way too much for me. I am no big fan of "punishing" RNGs, truth be told.

Since I reload every time anyway, and I want to get to the "real" stuff (1939+) as soon as possible, I would like to modify this (increase the chance of a "likely/very likely" transaction to suceed) directly in the game files, if possible.

Thanks in advance for any pointers, and help.

Have a nice day :)

Thanks. Worked like a charm.

OK so here's a weird one. I've been excited to test out the new Pocket Battleships to perform some convoy raiding. I'm using Bordeaux to base Graf Spee along with some CL screens. Each time this group makes a convoy hit, they immediately retreat and rebase back to Kiel (not Bordeaux where they are based). Naturally they choose to run the gauntlet and take a scary path right through the English channel. What's going on here?

Wondering if SF 2.04d might be my problem....I've got DIG 1.03 installed.
