I just installed WIN 7 and after getting it all updated I installed:
HOI3> v1.4 > SF >v2.04f > FtM > 3.05 >DIG > v2.06
FtM 3.05 gets correct checksum (UBYY) and boots up fine but DIG hangs up (just an hourglass and not the clock) at 'INITIALISING MAPLOGIC' and when I open Task Manager is says it has a 'File Exception Error'.
Did I miss a step? Is there something one has to do because of WIN 7 to get this running correctly? I am going to look in Tech Support but since problem appears to be DIG related I thought I would start here. Ideas?
Regards,
Rick

Bill,
I am betting you have my problem which I just resolved. It's called 'Operator Headspace' - meaning - we did it wrong. It's a simple mistake and it has been done by loads of folks here and I always thought '...never would do such a thing...not me!" but live and learn...and eat crow. I am willing to bet that you installed the 2.06 patch in the wrong location. I bet you install it in the home directory of HOI3 and not in '- Extract it to the FTM \mod\Dies_irae_Gotterdammerung folder' (taken right out of DD's instructions) - meaning - in the 'mod' folder. It was an oversight last night as started getting computer back together after loading new OS and was in a hurry...and it couldn't have had anything to do with the few glasses of wine.
I was taught in my engineering courses, "Rule #1 - If all fails, follow the damn instructions!"
If this works you owe me a pint of bitter next time I'm over in your part of the world and I owe you one back for me being thick as pig poop.Geez, I can't believe I did that...Hope it works. Let me know. - Rick

Thanks for the help but sadly that is not the problem. I followed those instructions carefully. I extracted the file directly into the location pointed to. I had often re-tried this over the past few months in the belief I must have just overlooked some small detail. Still no joy.

try extracting the .rar or .zip or whatever to a empty new folder, then copy the contents of that new folder to the correct location. windows sometimes fritzs out when copying lots of file, overwirting, extracting and megeing all at once.
i had it do this for me before. as it extracted it deleated the orginal but the temp file forgot to send the new files on and then deleated itself for some reason

Have you done a complete reinstall from scratch? I was having the exact same problems a couple weeks ago and it turned out to be what RickR said. Try launching HOI3 without selecting the mod. When I did so, the game loaded and I got to DIG splash screen menu, but on selecting a game HOI3 CTD'd. If you can replicate, this means the files are in the wrong folder. You have to manually select the hoi3/mod folder. Selecting the HOI3 folder isn't enough.

*BUG* When builing CAGs in 36, before the 39 light airplane techs, my CAG's have a speed of zero and need the 39 techs to "fly" when upgraded to 39 tech, speed of 25.
Observation regarding getting the Czech part of Czechoslovakia:
- The two units that appear in Prague are very nice but have 0 (zero) exp!!I would say that if the equipment passes on to the Wehrmacht it would be reasonable to give them a starting exp of 25 just as new units at this time in the game?

Otherwise there are no probs. Anyone who know this prob and has a solution? I´ve reinstalled...but the bug is still there...if i start a game without the mod, there are no probs...Thx for help

Bug/issue
Seems that AK units do not use normal sprites, but behave like minor nation units...

Bill, Darn! I was sure looking forward to that pint... try Nimrod123 idea. I do the same thing especially when I'm trying to extract to a folder deep in the directories. By your error code and it hanging up at 'INITIALISING MAPLOGIC' it really appears that that it's not seeing the DIG patch. Try Nimrod suggestion and cut and paste it directly into the DIG mod folder to be sure. Also, you might have to start from a clean install - meaning - ensure you have FtM 3.05 working (with correct checksum UBYY). Does your FtM 3.05 currently run correctly now? If so, that's 95% of the problem solved. I understand your flustration as I don't even bother to play vanilla SF or FtM. DIG improves it that much. It's something simple of that I'm sure. - Rick

I am not sure DIG works with sprites...why do I seem to remember that it does not? That is the first question some of the guys around here can answer for you. The problem is most of us use 'counters' instead. I will try it when I get home but I think I remember hearing that it doesn't work with Sprites. I hope for your case that I'm wrong. - Rick
PS. Francesco makes a really cool counter mod that plays perfectly with DIG (also ties in perfectly with his DIG Model mod) so perhaps you might be interested in that if you can't use Sprites and don't like the Nato counters.

Jesper, that's good information to know especially for guys new to HOI3/DIG - meaning - patches are included (which of course they should be) in upgrades/expansions.
So, just to confirm for all, your install went like this: HOI3> SF >FtM > 3.05 >DIG > v2.06
Right? - Rick
