Hi - really simple question but I couldn't answer on forums - how do you hire marines for a ship?

You need to be in homeport or a port you control with I think a level 2 garrison. Then you just add them on the ship repair and rearm screen
Ya my version of the game doesn't have that screen. I don't know whether I have a newer version of the game (mine is the Designer's Cut, I don't know if that makes it different) or whether I have been doing something wrong, but I can't find any way to recruit marines in any port. I even tried when I had two galleons stationed in Amsterdam, and there was no difference.

It has been several months since I have played this game. So hope this helps.
In the Designer's Cut you go into the port view. Instead of clicking on trading, click the captain. I believe it show the ships. Select a ship. There should be an up/down counter box. Note: Marines take up cargo space, 1 ton per marine. So if the ship is full you will not able to add any. Also you have to pay to hire marines.
