((You sir are more creative than most of us... well, me at least. In SotA, I was going to make an imperialist, but Cesar stole my thunder... And here, I never even bothered changing my ideals... gives me consistency...))

My condolences to the Jarvis family. Although we did not always see eye to eye in politics, it was a privilege to work with the distinguished man in California and national politics.

((Mine do. I had a Liberal Reublican from California, then Hayden. And in SotA I had a Nationalist and now a Communist.))
((I had a liberal Whig from Pennsylvania, then a diplomatic and aristocratic (and eventually quite cloak and dagger) Mexican Californian (although also a liberal Whig), then a reactionary Eastern academic, then a pacifist war hero, and now a socialist leaning female senator.))

I wish the very best to my dear friend Congressman Jarvis in his time of need.

Unionist Protectionist Whig- Die hard unionist Republican- Die hard Liberal-Federale without a cause.

(Wow, our first female character? How scandalous...)

(No, not really)

(but if anyone thinks so, misogynist)

(Not that you are)

(but you are)

(you know who you are)

(I hope you are proud of yourself, whoever you are)

(I cant stand people like yourself, so I hope your happy)

(I bet you kill puppies)

(And I like puppies, so I hope your happy)

(And... Consider that your entertainment for the afternoon folks, I have a headache so these mad ravings are my treat to you).

Goodbye Mr Jarvis, we shall meet again in Sovngarde.

((Amazing... and yes, all Jarvis' are Dragonborn...))

Thank you all for your kind words. My grandfather dedicated his life to this great Union, and can only hope to follow in his illustrious footsteps...

My New Character

Senator Erica Hayden-Vallejo

flynn_speak.jpg

Erica Hayden was born on November 17, 1862 to Jose Ibarura (Joe Hayden) and his wife Elizabeth Wagenknecht in Boston. She grew up in a working-class family and witnessed her father organize his fellow workers and eventually come to prominence in politics, first as a Libertarian, then a Federalist, and finally a Democrat. As her fathers political fortunes rose, her life grew gradually more comfortable and she was able to receive an education at Vassar College. She eventually received a degree in law and became the first woman admitted to the New York State Bar in 1887 after passing the exam in 1885 and waging a two year legal battle against the New York State Bar for refusing her admission. Her success led to the amendment of the Civil Code so that no person could be refused admission based on race or gender. She practiced law from 1887 to 1894, mostly defending women and advocating for their rights. In 1886, she married Richard Vallejo after growing acquainted with him when her father served in the Bridgeworthy and Vallejo Administrations as Secretary of Industry. Erica campaigned heavily for her father in the North East every time he ran for President.

Erica ran for Congress in the midterms of 1894, winning election as the Representative of New York City as a Federalist. She is very close with her sister-in-law, Alicia Vallejo, and has followed her trend of supporting the Federals on the state-level and the Democrats at the national-level. During the Hayden Administration, she worked as a Special Prosecutor responsible for the anti-trust case brought against United Fruit. Eventually, the court would rule in her favor and she became a national figure associated with progressive policies and trust-busting. After Harrison's election, she was appointed Attorney-General in recognition of her legal skill. This appointment made Erica the second woman appointed to head a Federal Department after her cousin, Alicia Vallejo, who was appointed Secretary of Industry during the Hayden Administration. In the election of 1904, Erica ran for and won a seat in the Senate from New York. She campaigned heavily on anti-war policies and promising to be a "thorn in the side of that warmonger, Carr!"

You made a new character?

Oye vey, hes actually going to kill him off for a Teddy Roosevelt moment...

(I suppose I was not aware it was actually going to happen or not. My apologies then. Im not sure how I feel, since some people might be voting based on the assumption you would be president, not Harrison. Unless I am the only one who didnt know you were getting axed.)

((I will be President for the majority of the term. And our platform was agreed to by both of us pretty easily, so nothing should change.))

(No worries then.)

I, Samuel Lee Davis, Lawyer and Former President of these United States, announce that I will represent any Trust or corporation in court against any potential anti-trust legislation should they choose to hire me. I also will examine any anti-trust bills for constitutionality and willl urge my clients to press the courts for the striking down of the law if it is found to violate the Constitution of the United States.

Well, it's now January 1st GMT. Hayden's lead right now is the type that is unlikely to be surmounted after two days of voting without passing the record for number of votes with nothing but Orleans votes.

In light of this, I think I'm going to call it.

The Polls are Closed. The vote is at 13 to 9 in favor of Hayden/Harrison.

Joe Hayden will continue in his duties as President of the Republic.

Blindgoose, Congratulations on becoming the first two-termer since Michael Jamous (1865-73).

My friends in the California justice system (my grandfather had many allies from decades in office) have also informed me that they will also challenge any anti-trust legislation from the United States. What you do in New York is your business, Governor Harrison, and the business of the businessmen! But neither you nor Washington, D.C. can dictate Californian policy. These United States are founded on federalism, with the states having sovereignty over anything not explicitly handed to the federal government.

((Congratulations on a second term... too bad you'll never finish it...))

congratulations to citizen joe!

I offer my congratulations to the Democratic Party and swear that, as Secretary of the Treasury, I will do all in my power to undermine the oligarchs and uphold the interests of the common man. Our economy will blossom when the monopolist stranglehold is relaxed and the American worker is possessed of full liberty and income.
