Question About the Danubian Federation.

Hey everyone!

I've just defeated the German Empire in europe and the event fired where the empire annexes Mittelafrika. My question is this; now that I am in possession of european germany are there any events that should fire for german surrender? I heard on another thread that you could form a Hapsburg led German Empire.

Thanks!

Playing as Romanov Russia with 1.3, Russia doesn't get a core on the province to the north of Sevastopol when Ukraine submits to Russia after Russia demands concessions from Germany during the Second Weltkrieg. I forget the province name, I think it starts with Y?

These events are not implemented (yet?).

Yevpatoria?

I have an idea for an event chain. It seems really easy for Germany to rack a lot of dissent early in the game and I think it might be cool if after a certain point, say 60% or 75% dissent, it might be possible for the Syndie French to attempt a coup in Germany by way of FAUD, but the German Army resists and some units mutiny and blah then the chains typically set off by Germany's capitulation go in effect and nations start seizing its colonies and there's a German civil war and different European nations are taking sides and there's a Bavarian Republic and a North German Federation fighting off an Imperial rump state and Syndie France is intervening and the Eastern European states have to choose whether to stay with Germany or go Russian or Syndie.

Other Things
In 1936, when the Union of Britain is choosing its foreign policy in September, it has the option to reconcile with Canada and the Entente and I think that should set off more events between Canada and Union of Britain, but then the Commune of France gets angry, especially if they choose to go Totalist, which could cause a civil war between Syndie forces over the direction of the movement... a Trotsky versus Stalin type thing, only more.

And I think it'd be nice if Switzerland had more events, like elections, or maybe when the Commune asks for Romandy, the Commune could have the option of starting a war solely with Switzerland and maybe Germany might intervene, but I don't know about that.

mod is fun but far too easy - playing as Union of Britain I have liberated USA, Canada, the German Empire, Ottomans and the Russian Empire - all before the end of 1941.

I just played a game with UoB (a great nation to play with, to be sure) and while I got Canada, the mainland was lost thanks to the incompetence of the CoF. That means an eternal stalemate, unless you have the patience of playing for 10 more years to industrially overtake and outproduce the Germans. The default UoB doctrine is quite shit compared to the Germans', at least it seems that way to me.

Then again, if things do go right, why are you expecting to have a challenging game with one of the most powerful and most user-friendly nations of the mod?

And now for some comments of my own:

Should the UoB really have to trudge all the way to Winnipeg to defeat Canada? Makes sense for a Combined Syndicates victory, where it's right on the border, but for the UoB, the walk alone (even with MOTs) takes months, not to mention the few stragglers who try to stop you. Wouldn't it make more sense to scratch the Winnipeg win condition and just have all the major cities in the east captured to win? I mean, anyone who has captured Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa and Quebec has won against Canada already.

Then there's New England. It fought alongside Canada, getting defeated of course, and it stayed on my hands. There should be a way to return it to the Combined Syndicates, if it was victorious (or even if it's still fighting, with a "wait for the end of the civil war" option), or establish a Socialist Republic of New England by event. I'd say this is worth addressing because Canada and New England fighting together against the UoB is a pretty common scenario, and the civil war still raging when I invade is quite likely.

In addition, if Canada seizes Alaska, I retain Alaska after the reactionaries are defeated and the SocRep is established. I don't have much of a problem with that, after all, there's oil there and even a few bases, but in case the player doesn't want to bother with it, there should be an option to hand over Alaska to Socialist Canada, possibly with integration events afterwards to make Alaska national territory of the new Canada.

While we're there, Ireland should also have integration events. Okay, I get it, there were bombing campaigns and Irish industry has been heavily damaged, but the Scots and the Welsh are having fun in the Union. Why don't the Irish eventually settle down too? I mean, Syndicalism is all about internationalism and erasing national boundaries. For added flavor, there could even be Irish candidates in later TUC election events (or cabinet choice events, or whatever) if Ireland is in the Union. But that's secondary.

There is a war between Poland and White Ruthenia over the ownership of Brest Litovsk. I haven't bothered to check if there is a surrender event for White Ruthenia, but there isn't one for Poland and there should be. In my case, WR was allied with the Russian Empire and Poland was destroyed, leaving WR with all of Poland. A bit ugly and nonsensical, I'd say, for an AI White Ruthenia.

Liberating Canada was easy for me because I allied CSA during the Civil War from the beginning, and then helped CSA liberate the entirety of the USA. Later on when the war with Canada started I had already positioned my army on the provinces bordering the VPs. Canada was conquered- uh.. I mean liberated... by the end of 1939. Then I moved everything back to the British Isles to beat the evil Germans. This was the result:

Most of the German armies trapped in a pocket and out of supply. Defeating germany was easy after this.

I wasn't aware that UoB was particularly 'powerful' and 'user-friendly'. Which country would you recommend for more of a challenge? (Not something silly like Afghanistan though :p)

Russia might be somewhat challenging for a first time, when you still don't know events that good it might surprise and challenge you, at least a bit. If not Russia, you can try Austria and re-creation of Austria-Hungary - might be fun as well.

Yet when it comes to worth challenge, I'd say Ottoman Empire. After tough times with Kurds and Arabs there is plenty to do. I ended conquering U.S in 50s - guess I'll give it another go soon. Except that usual underdogs with quite good events - Mongolia, Socialist Italy, Nationalist France...if you are playing for a first time, most countries should be fun ;)

Interesting. When I tried to land in Northern Germany I was surrounded and pushed out by hordes of more powerful Germans straight away. Maybe your Germany just happened to be weaker in that case?

I've got to concur with Ober on their suggestions. Nationalist France is a particular favourite of mine back from my Doomsday KR days, though I've never been able to complete it, it's that challenging. You've got to somehow get back to mainland France before Germany does, but the Syndicalists are so much more powerful and your allies are so far away. If the Germans defeat the Communards, there is a small chance they'll give you France for free, but then you've got to renounce your claims on Alsace-Lorraine, and that's no fun... Ottoman Empire is still challenging, but less suicidally so. The Qing can be a pretty nice challenge if you get into conflict with Japan. Oh, and then there's Canada - a bit like Nationalist France, but not as impossible if things go wrong in Europe. Get Britain back, establish the UK, switch to it and see if you can get your French allies back on the mainland too.

Is the Ethiopian CW event chain still a WIP? I remember in 1.3 some rebels popped up but in 1.4 Beta that doesn't even happen.

Also kamenev if you want a challenge I heard Hungary is tough if you get the Augsliche event.

Playing as CSA and after winning ACW, I noticed the province "Eureka" in the West didn't become a national province.

Also quite annoyed how ALL the militia units get disbanded. I have to strat redeploy a lot of my INF units to the beaches, and that seriously threw off my plans for an early Canada and Mexico invasion.

Thanks for the advice! I think I will play through all of the 'viable' nations (criteria of viable being not too small and inconsequential) and then increase the difficulty level and go back to UoB.

Playing the AoG and arranging a Chinese Republic and re-unifying China is always fun.

Basically you pick the AoG and reform it to the Chinese Republic and start doing your best to unify. My favourite scenario.

IF, and i stress, if it is the same problem i had then there should be two files that look the same ... one called tc_icons and another called something else, basically IF there is then you need to swap the files by renaming them.
If there isn't two files who's thumbnails look the same then you have a different problem perhaps.

I didn't have any problem finding TC_Icons but the other one wasn't easy to figure out. Does anyone know what other file he's talking about?

Anyone coming up with an answer for the tech problem, because I am also having the exact same problem as LeifNepstad.
There hasn't really been any progress on my end figuring out how to make KR work. I might need to try not running the game on maximum resolution. It'd be nice to take advantage of my big screen, but I could give that up for a wee bit if it means this mod would finally work. I don't get the same Tech-Team problem for any other Scenario.
