MiscMods - The little mod that thinks really big. This is something I've been working on for awhile so I thought I'd leave this here for everyone here to take a look at. It's a collection of minor changes to the basic Europa Universalis experience. Believe it or not it's not meant to change your gameplay experience in a serious way, but it definitely gives you some new options. There's new missions, events, decisions, nations, religions and...
New Scenarios
Several alternate starting scenarios are available. These do not interfere with the historical grand campaign whatsoever. You can still start a new game in 1399 or 1450 or 1820 or whatever with the historical borders as set by Paradox Each of these alternate scenarios are stored in the days before the start of the historical grand campaign.
Shattered Europe
![]()
Europe is fractured and under siege. The infighting of Christian kings has left them vulnerable to outside invaders. In the east the Mongol hordes are moving in from Siberia while Turkish missionaries have spread their faith over the Balkans. Southern Italy is in the midst of religious turmoil as Christian and Muslim Italians cross swords. To the west Moorish successors squabble over the remains of Spanish kingdoms. Meanwhile the untamed pagans to the north seek opportunities to expand.
Playing as a major Muslim power on the Iberian peninsula or uniting the British Isles under a pagan banner offer some new opportunities.
Peace of God
![]()
Beginning with Pope Gregory VII, the Papal State has preached for the violent eviction of Muslims from the holy lands. Religious zeal has taken hold of Europe and for the past 300 years many of Europe's finest have gone to fight and die in the east. Byzantium has only recently begun to lose ground as ambitious Catholic nobles look for new lands to conquer. The Papal focus on the Levant and backlash against the church's violent message means the call for the Albigensian Crusade was not answered and the Cathars of southern France have gathered a sizable following.
Choose to fight Heathens in the Holy Land or Heretics in the heart of France.

Dark Continent

The black death has finally begun to retreat after claiming almost all of Europe. The Muslims prepare to reclaim the empty fields and abandoned universities of the deceased Christian kings. In the east great explorers say goodbye to their families and prepare to sail to the edge of the world. In far away lands, tribes and empires alike are entering a renaissance of their own.
This scenario was created as a sort of personal challenge when someone pointed out there's never been a good Years of Rice and Salt scenario. This scenario also has a full list of unique events involving exploration, modernization and colonization. Since most of the game is removed with an empty Europe there are several new nations present in the Americas and Africa. Several European colonies inspired by Years of Rice and Salt and other sources are available at game start but don't really enter the game for about 15 years.

Dynamic Colonies!
Compare and contrast these two screenshots!
Better 1? Better 2?
Colonies in the new world are going to be different every game you play. If the Swedes colonize North America the nation of Vinland may appear instead of Canada. If Muslims land in South America you may meet entirely new states.
There's lots of other little changes but as I said they're meant to not be too terribly intrusive. Some things such as the Hussite rebellion or the rise of Sikhism may be a little more jarring than the fact that introducing your heir will actually raise your heirs legitimacy. See the massive revisions list for the complete rundown if you need to know what's what.
Download the mod or don't, whatever!

There are notes in most of the files I edited stating what I changed.
