If it didn't sound like the BNU was comprised of a bunch of bigots, I might've thrown my vote behind them.

The march has begun, this is long slip towards socialist dictatorship and exploitation!

Wesminister has the potential to become a dictatorship should any party become a majority government.

We need a broad coalition of anti socialist parties and members to take a stand, yes improvements for the lower classes, yes bread and butter for the craftsmen, yes a living wage, but neigh on unchecked socialist expansion, neigh on the red creep, neigh on the dictatorship of the proletariat whom will only be ruled by an elitist clique.

Liberal democracy FIRST, Socialism, NEVER!

The end of BADF? NOOooOooooOOOOO!

I am saddened that Harney has seen it fit to sever the bond of friendship between Anglo-Americans, that must now be painstakingly recreated.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear...

Those Laborist have trashed everything but the industry. In fact, I'm impressed by that success. However, the rest of his term is so dissapointing, specially the half-hearted social reform...

And then, those bigots of the BNU...

We shall see...

MONSTER UPDATE!

That filled up suprisingly fast so I didn't get a chance to talk about as much internal politics and especially Ireland as I would have liked to. :/

Superb update. As for Ireland you can always do a seperate mini update on that or if you run out of space next time do a second consecutive post :D. The next election is going to be one heck of a doozy.

Well its nice to know there are Russel's Coalition Liberals should the Communists/Anarchists ouster Harney and take over Labour. Of course if that ever happened Harneyites and Russelites might even merge together as Social Democrats - though it's probably more likely that the Labour Party will simply remain as it is, a big tent, and the current era of tension within the Left will eventually subside. I imagine America will eventually elect a moderate president again and relax political repression, their liberalizing tendencies alone might the likelihood of political reform platforms high.

It's the isolation from America in foreign policy and the general desire to not be in unpopular wars that is hurting Labour and pushing segments of it leftward. The BNU represent a dangerous precedent, because wars and an 8 hour day is something many in the British working and vast lower middle class (Britain is a nation of shopkeepers after all) could get behind when put together like that.

Also I have a feeling from the update that Interventionism is going to be a recurring economic policy even among non-Labour, finding the moderation between state capitalism and laissez faire. I would bet protectionism and laissez faire have both kind of seen their end for a while.

I also love that the reactionary lobby, not just the BNU but even the posters it is seeming, has now shifted to the left on social reforms where before it was unthinkable and even more to right if possible on the removal of political reforms in the name of repressing socialism.

We've moved from the Whiggish origins of the Republican society to an age of more muscular British government on the domestic front - with social reforms a real possibility and the political repression the same.

Amen to that!

Ah, typical labour government drivel.

Look at how well industry is doing! Um, yeah, let's ignore foreign policy, and religious policy...

Will Britain have friends in the future? Will those of faith still be welcome to express their views?

Am I still sending my hard-earned capitalist wealth to the US? Heck yes. I don't trust these socialists...they keep casting their eye on the rewards of my labour and thinking, "I could take that...the people won't know the difference..."

I did enjoy seeing labour build ships though. It is exactly what they would do I think. Ships mean contracts for the unions and labourers. Money to the base! Excellent strategy.

As for the BNU...if they weren't so damned socialist the reactionary part of me would just love to join in. As it is, I can only hope that the fragmentation of the left helps the conservatives...

and friendship with America on ice the BADF Doctrine was dead.

Thank God! :p

BNU = facism or just über right wing conservatives?

Waaaaaaaaaaag

I really want to start the election soon. :D

I hope no one will mind if I start it tommorrow rather than the usual Sunday kickoff. That will mean it will finish on Wednesday though.

I should also try to prepare some sort of regicide special where a Monarch will get killed next Friday. :D
I don't know which one, I don't know in which country, but it's going to happen. ;)

Merely a 14 hour work day and STILL no minimum wage? Absolutely worthless and highly unacceptable.

The BNU is so confusing to me. On one hand, I feel drawn to them because of the promise of an 8 hour work day and securing the rights of the workers. On the other hand, they want to begin forcing religious values upon us again and are insane enough they wish to restore the monarchy.

I say stay far away from them and let's instead keep pressure from the left on Labour to continue with the much-needed reforms.

Who would the new monarch of Britain be if the BNU won? Since William IV is dead and had no legitimate issue...
