I can't afford to waste tech on it if it doesn't help my Tac's.

havn't got the game handy to check, but i think the tooltip SHOULD tell you which units it affects. mouse over the tech, and you shoulf get a tooltip that reads somthing like:

    "cas: ground attack +15%
    tac: ground attack +15%
    Int: ground attack +15%
    Ftr: ground attack +15%"

    etc, etc.

if it does not list TAC, then it does not affect tac bombers.

however, if it lists no units, just the mission (as you say) then it upgrades that mission, and any planes attempting that mission get the benefit of it.

Hi everybody. I have the SF expansion and I'm playing as Republican Spain (with the allies). I've already conquered Portugal and I have the Macau colony in Asia.

As I'm at war with Italy it's a pain in the ass they hamper my convoys by destroying my transports & escorts to the Asia colonies, I have to say my Navy is not that good so I thought about changing the convoy routes and border Africa to the south to avoid the "mediterranean pain". I tried to create a convoy route manually but it only lists available ports to select, not routes. Just to confirm, ¿is it possible to change convoy routes?

    No, sadly not.

I'd suggest you minemize your need for convoys to Macau. Station few if any units there, there can't be much threat to the area. Unless you really need the resources Macau produces, which can't be much, I'd say you should turn of your homegoing resource convoy.

Thank you. May I ask you something more? I'm totally noob but I understand from what I've read that if... let's say I conquer african italian provinces and do it from land, coming from a French province. Are the provinces I conquer considered mine or when peace comes they'll be for France?

if you conquor a province form an allied nation, they get to run that province. if you conquor form the sea, then it;s yours. if your take a province that boarders both your and an allies lands, it's yours.

    Hey,
I'm new at HoI3-SF and I have a little question, too.
    I'm playing Italy and I started on 01.01.1936 and now it's 01.09.1937
and I have the problem, that I don't have any commanders left.

Is there a way to get more commanders?

    PS: Sorry, for my English...
And thank you for your answer...

    Greetings

you cannot produce more commanders yourself, but the game adds in new commanders every year (i think in the year they turn up historically).

so, unfortunatly, you are just going to have to sit tight, keep the commanders you have in the divs that need them most, and wait for the wartime leaders to start appearing. your going to have to move commanders form div to div, keeping them in whichever div needs commanders the most (hopefully, your not involved in any wars at that point in the game, so you should be ok). check to see where your existing commanders are, and think if they can be better placed elsewhere (ie does that milita div really need a commander more than that armoured div without one?)

    It affects all planes.

That said, if you don't wish to go for a single doctrine in the CAS-"tree", you can use Interdiction missions for the same purpose (the game treats a "ground attack" and an "interdiction" the same for reasons I do not understand). So go ahead and research the doctrine that raises interdiction efficiency (it's under the TAC-"tree"), and just always use Interdictions when going for ground troops.

techs only list each "unit" they upgrade when they are actually upgrading a unit; in the case of the doctrines in question, they aren't improving a unit, they are improving an "order", so there will be no unit list.
Naval Changes: You need em, I got em. --Rather outdated, but I'm leaving it up ;p--
An improvement to supplies, with (I surmise) a minimal invasion of code and processor power. --sadly locked due to thread necromancy rules, but I'm happy to re-start this discussion if you are--

    Hey,

    thank you.

So I have to wait. :P

Yeah, good, than I'm not at war.
And I don't have any milita left, I have upgraded them to infanterie and mountain divs.
I hope this will be good for the war against Yugoslavia/Greece and to hold the border to France.

Is there anyway to sync your attacks while units are under attack delay?

Also is researching Tough and Def tech now useless?\

    Thanks

    Thanks
Highlight the units and, hold ctrl and right click the province you want to atack. Their should be a synch arrival option.

Are coastal forts good for preventing land invasions or are they just to help in naval battles?

the are only for naval invasions but you need to garrison them.

Is there any other way to gain fuel other then trade?

At my current rate -400 I will be out in 3 months. I have got plenty of crude oil as I took over Romania as Germany but I need oil not fuel.

As far as I know (I'm a noob) you convert the oil you have to fuel, and the rate of that conversion depends on your available IC (I think is one to one, so 55 IC = 55 fuel per day), so you could do the following:

    a) Improve the "quality" of the conversion via tech
    b) Improve your available IC via techs
    c) Conquer some territories so you can have more IC

The first two don't seem to fit your situation. :P So the last one is the better for you on the short term. Also look if you can set any policies (or ministers) than improve your IC

LOL, I meant I need fuel not oil in above post, but Kuro realised.

Didn't know IC affected the conversion rate. My prodution queue is full, guess I'll just have to cancel some stuff.

  18. #58
no. production doesn't affect the conversion rate.

what he means is that total IC determines the rate of conversion, independant of construction.

IC is a mesure of heavy industry, which includes things like oil refineraries. how much IC you have sets at what rate the conversion can happen at, modified by techs.

Research the techs on the idustry tab to get better conversion rates. To minimize your fuel usage keep ships in port, limit air usage unless you really need it. For example use intercept missions and not air superiority. Finally, stop build all those panzers, motorized and mech troops. And as for air don't keep moving your troops around unless you are in a fight and need to.

Aha, I see. So amount of IC is what matters. What about production efficiency?
