Check what stats the unit shows in the production window with the 1939 tech researched. For me it looks like it says it is going to be built with 400 km range. Maybe when it comes out on the map it indeed has 525 km range but then there is an interface bug here.

Tested around a bit. It seems that they don't get all range research before the game starts properly, but range increased after get added. And what is displayed in production is indeed what they get when deployed.

Something is not right here.

TAC should have 125km range advantage due to the techs researched before 1939 though I realize now...

So if there is a bug it probably effects both TAC and NAV.

When I play as Germany, Italy seldom joins the war on their own account. Why?

Why should they? With the French and British navies still intact they can't really function and when Germany gobbles up Yugoslavia there ain't much left to conquer. Okey, I'm not sure if the game is programmed to behave like that.

However, Italy was actually quite reluctant to go to war. Mussolini had at least some grasp that Italys armed forces wasn't ready for their British counterparts. And even if they had done better, Italy didn't stand to gain that much of a war. These points are still valid in the game, so it's only natural for an Italian entry in the war to require a bit of German persuasion.

Is it possible to release a puppet?

Yes. If its possible you can do it by clicking the "release puppet" button in the lower right corner of the "Politics" menu.

If Mussolini had the smarts approaching to hindsight he might have been better off staying out almost completely like Franco or even waiting to join the Allies in the end like Turkey.:ninja:

I'm sure this has been asked. But my ships can be upgraded. But what does it do. I know my cruisers can be upgraded to escort carriers. But what does it do when I upgrade my light cruiser to a light cruiser. Does it give me all the new teca? Does it just waste time. What does it do?

without mods such thinks are not possible. if you have modded the game the new ships receive the techs you have researched.

Anyone can help me with diffrent setup for divisons? I use 3xinf and 3xinf + 1xart. Can I use other mixes and what is a good support div?

3Inf + 1Art is a decent and quite common mix. The only other useful support brigades are the occasional Eng or AA. AT is in most situations not helpful as the AI opponents have little armour. Faster brigades (TD, SArt, AC) are a waste with Inf and should better be combined with Mot, Arm and the like.

Playing Germany invading SU. SU started war with the standard sneak attack when Germany captured London. I was trying to select only parts of European Russia for annexation. During the war the SU eventually defeated and annexed Finland. The Romanians triggered the Soviet surrender before I was able to recapture Finland. The result is that Finland is isolated Soviet territory and I have 4 infantry divisions stuck on an island in the Baltic which are slowly wasting away because I can neither withdraw them or supply them. It has been over a year since the Soviet surrender. Germany cannot DOW the SU (button greyed out) but on crossover I see that the SU would be able to DOW Germany. I have tried holding all units off the border to entice a Soviet DOW without success and then tried to stack twice the Soviet brigade total on the border hoping that would allow Germany to DOW. No go. Is there a way to enable Germany to DOW the SU in this situation?

OOPS - Playing FTM.

I know this is a repost to this thread but I am somewhat frustrated and hope that someone has an insight. I imagine that Germany is locked out from DOWing the SU as a result of the Bitter Peace event. Does this lock out ever time out? Why in this situation is the SU able to declare war on Germany but not the other way around?

you are simply having a truce which will expire eventually and your divisions on that island should still be able to enter any transport ship you have near by.

Sorry, I probably should have clarified better.

I mean if you have a puppet already, can you make them independent (ie. not a puppet any more)?

The reason I ask is that once you defeat majors like say Japan, they need to trade for resources - which can't happen if they are a puppet.

That is what I thought also, but it is now more than two years since the Bitter Peace without any change. Also I have tried several times to load the divisions onto transports in the sea zones adjacent to the island. Maybe this particular game is just bugged...sigh...

You can't upgrade to different types of ships, so a submarine can't upgrade to be a Battleship or CV. Most things on board ships do upgrade except their main guns, engines (so stuck with original speed & range) and their armour belt, but everything else upgrades such as AA guns, torpedos, RADAR, ASW which you need IC in the Upgrade Slider on the production screen for and also for free you get new Doctrines immediately. So that upgrading of a light cruiser to light cruiser you are seeing means it will be the same light cruiser although a slightly better light cruiser in itself in some other features but with the same big guns, engine and hull.
