Erm if you take a look at my profile picture, thats a Serbian coat of arms xD If you mean specifics, im from Belgrade/Beograd and i lived through all those events, so thats prolly why i know about them, first hand experience.

I dont remember the specifics, but AFAIK Sloba was the president of both Serbia (within old Juga) and Yugoslavia (one with Montenegro) - at different times of course.

At the time of civil war (in Croatia) IRRC "Predsednik Predsednistva" was Stipe Mesic (you really should check this, it was kinda very long time ago), but basically, Milosevic was the guy that was de facto (and certainly not legally) making all decisions about the entire Serbian people - he had control over JNA, and over revolting republics (Republika Srpska Krajna, and Republika Srpska), but at some point he more or less gave up on them, so the one in Croatia got pretty much blitzed by Americans and Croats (since it was small and not very well organized), while the one in Bosnia survived because it literally had more army than Croats and Muslims together (at the end of Bosnian war they basically controlled whole Bosnia - major urban areas in Federation, whatever land Federation gained in Dayton was the result of diplomacy and not military success, compared to Croatia).

In either case Milosevic was the head of SPS ("Socijalisticka Partija Srbije" > "Socialist Party of Serbia"), while his wife was the head of JUL ("Jugoslovenska Udruzena Levica" > "Yugoslav United Left (or "Leftist Front" not 100% sure how to translate it)). BTW, Milosevic's party SPS, is today part of "democratic" Serbian government, and Milosevic's second in command Ivica Dacic is actually the minister of Internal Affairs (aka Police).

1. It was not a civil war, it was a war of independence. Croatia was a republic, it did not fight against their own people to characterize it as a civil war.
2. RSK (Republika Srpska Krajina) was offered autonomy by Croatia in "plan Z4", but they refused, so they were eliminated in operation "Storm", which was allegedly helped by Americans, but only in intelligence.
3. In Bosnia, Serbs were saved by Dayton agreement, because they were almost completely defeated by joint Croat and Muslim forces who came at the gates of Banja Luka, when the Americans said "STOP", because they were afraid of mass killing and revenge. So, the Republic of Srpska was saved on one side and Federation of Bosniaks and Croats on the other side. That was your result of diplomacy.
4. Please, try to be politically correct and sustain yourself from spreading lies.

Ah and here it comes, i knew it was just a matter of time. Whenever i see people who grew up on Tudjman's propaganda i feel sadness, for they really belive its the truth. :)

Anyway, thx for invitation Hax, but from my personal experience there are still too many people who like to think within certain framework and they tend to blindly believe theyre right (and usually its 10-15 years old kids who have seen their side's "truth" on TV). Participating in such discussions can bring nothing good, just flame wars, so i widraw from here. If you need specifics you can pm me.

My intention was not to start flame wars, and as you, I also lived through the war. I'm not raised on propaganda, this is my opinion based on neutral written texts. What is your excuse?

"All wars are civil wars, because all men are brothers." - Fenelon
Men were even more brothers under the rule of SFRY...

Ya know, what would be most interesting is to include the Balkan Flame War propaganda IN the mod. To select Serbia in the game for exemple and with the events you receive you only see the war from the Serbian 'biased' side. You receive propaganda about croat cruelty, blah blah blah, you fight against the impeding civil war and all. But then when you select the croats to play, you see THEIR SIDE of the war and fight for freedom and independance. And something for all factions.

Yugoslavia was a country and when there's war within a country, that's always been called a Civil War.

Of course, one of the factions of the war wanted to separate from the other, and so you could also call it a War of Independence.

It is a very complex conflict overall, and I can see the reasons to call it both things at a time. For all those years of hate, there were and still are a lot of things in common between the peoples of Former Yugoslavia, and not only because they belonged to the same country during 70 years or so.

As for Milosevic role, he was elected President of Serbia in late '90. Back then the Federal Presidency still existed. He actually wasn't "President of Yugoslavia" until '97, because that "Yugoslavia" was a federation of two republics and it had its own Federal Presidency, but as you probably guessed already, it was Milosevic the one who exerced real power during the war, even if formally he was only President of Serbia.

I am already working on one mod but (sorry if this seems off topic) I was thinking of making a mod using this same concept except it would portray the Battle of Stalingrad.

Greetings from Greece. I like to see Balkan mods out there. Whenever anyone is interested in creating a Balkan Wars mod PM me.

And please, keep the discussion civil, will ya? I've been a member of the Total War forums for years, where I have witnessed plenty of Balkan related threads getting ugly real fast. The ethnic and political problems in our region are really to complex and propaganda is thriving so my conclusion is that, well let's better avoid discussing these things.

Oh interesting! I recall there was a similar themed idea for mod, the Battle of Berlin.
