Smile Cities in Motion Fan Site List

In addition to the lately opened official website of the game (*surprise surprise* http://www.citiesinmotion.com/) already before the actual release of the game some fan sites have been popping up -- and some more are perhaps to come?

That's why I thought that this topic could be used for posting links to sites already available and maybe even for those under construction.

Feel free to inform of new sites as well as any information in this message that is outdated.

Hi, thanks for including my site! I am indeed the administrator (I'm still looking for co-administrators and mods, if anyone's interested). The site will be launched on the 25th (the CiM release date), and the URL will be Cities-in-Motion.nl. I made up a one-liner which you can put in the description: The first and only Dutch Cities in Motion community! (in Dutch: Dé Nederlandse Cities in Motion site!)

I think we shouldn't split up in different languages. Why not make an overal world-wide fan base (like simtropolis) with multi-language support.
On this website there would be an Customs and Mods Exchange server for download-able files that also have nation categories. Take the best out of what already exists.
If we split up in having 50 different websites, things are getting very hard to track and people even become frustrated because they have to surf 500 different websites for a couple of things. Also, Ive seen programmers already created an CIM importer & exporter for gs files. Maybe he (and others)
can start programming an 'custom content' manager that gets track of all the custom files (use of sqlite.dll helps a lot ). Don't forget to add version functionality to the downloaded content so that it can be updated and used for dependency sets.

I don't know if you guys have heard of cygwin. That kind of a content manager is what we want, i promise you ! . When you select package, the dependencies are getting selected too, VERSIONIZED!

We should learn from the simscity 4 fanbase. Now we have a change to do it the right way. Don't screw up :P.

I want to help/participating in developing these tools, but not if i have to do all the things alone. (i also want to know if we have the privilege from colossal order to do such things).

When it comes to modding Cities in Motion, we certainly don't have anything against it when it's non-commercial. Please feel free to make the game your own and these tools you create can be, of course, freely shared with the community

    Updated.

Sorry, Jamy Mahabier, took away the question marks. They were there either because of my mistake or it's just me who's too unsure if things are going to happen -- after all not everyone is as sluggish to finish their projects as I am :P

In a way I do agree with Ne0Que that having the community in small "fragments" might not be the best solution. After all the same issues will be discussed likely everywhere. But then again I do feel that those who feel uneasy using English all the time it might be a good option to be able to discuss CiM in their own language. And despite English basically being Latin of our Era, having fan sites in so many different languages probably helps spreading the gospel of CiM all around our globe

I am also very happy to see how positive attitude the devs have towards modding! A proper Finnish hiphiphurraa to Colossal Order -- hip-hip, hip-hip, hip-hip!

    Hi

I been following Cities in motion for some time now, and really look forward to the release of it. I love the idea of fan sites, and is willing to offer any one who wants to run a Cities in motion website, free hosting.

    Cool There it is

Well, hello guys! I've been following the Cities in Motion development for awhile and this topic too. I've just registered a domain and I'm intenting to make the "International Cities in Motion Society" (Hehe yes, a powerful name).
The domain is already live www.citiesinmotionsociety.com. Please, save it to your bookmarks.
PM me here in this forum if you want to help us developing it. I didn't choose the platform yet. Initially I was thinking about "PHP-Fusion" because it's free and fast to build, so we could have more time to choose or develop a better and bigger platform.

I will soon install an message box in the website so you people can send me mails!
    See you later!

Red face Yet Another Fan Site Opens, Leaves CiM Fans Disgusted With Very Little Content

More or less proud to announce you, oh dear fellow CiM fans, the arrival of a fan site, CiMnavia (http://www.cimnavia.com). The site is aimed for our Scandinavian fans, so any of you Reykjavík-born-and-breds or bicyclists of Copenhagen, GET RRR-RREADY TO RUMBLEEE-EEE! Or not. (Ironically most of the content is still in English)

But yeah, anyway. Välkommen, velkommen, tervetuloa, velkomst, velkomin!

(Yeah, I know, Finland and Finnish language is a weird part of Scandinavia because of the lingual difference from the Scandinavian languages. Technically Finland ain't part of "Scandinavia", at least in Norwegian, Danish or Swedish, but you guys are welcome, too, not least because of Colossal Order but because you belong to the class "Nordic countries" )

Two more sites added to the list, although both in the "Under Construction" category.

Also, one new tidbit of information, Is the Site Looking for Volunteers. Feel free to post in this thread and keep the situation up to date.
