I have a question thats been bugging me for a while, if anyone can answer it then please do:
an f-22 is stealth, right, and when you turn youre radar on you can get counter detected by ESM, so if an f-22 turns its radar on then wont its stealth ability be compramised? and if so doesn't that defeat the purpose?
-if so will that be incorporated in game?

yes so thats why the f-22 needs passive awacs support which it does. it goal would to be to shoot down the enemys awacs and aerial refuels.... that would certainly limit what your enemy can do. also the f-22 has to options to shoot down a awacs. it can go mach 2.2 and shoot down with aim-9 passively within 6 miles away but have a high chance of being detected. or ifs it has the right information from its own awacs it shoot off a aim-120 passively and the aim-120 active seeker would do all the work. and the final option is turn on its radar fror 30 secs shoot of a aim-120 shut of again and dive for the deck.

Currently F22A needs to switch the radar on for long range firecontol solution, as it is required to correct the missile trajectory. In the future however missiles would be capable of receiving corrections commands from other, networked sources.

Also F22A cannot sustain 2.2. M flight, its super cruise values are much less, and its max speed in inferior to gen 4 aircraft (this is partially due to use of non regulated air intakes).
Also the F22A stealth (and any stealth, F35 and T50 included) is not absolute and can be defeated in many ways. Including:
1) If datalinks or radar is used by intercepting those signals with advanced ELINT systems (as fitted on Su35S and planned for T50)
2) The med-high alt stealth aircraft can reliably detected by mobile, UHF/VHF EW radars, that are now highly resistant to ECM and are hard to counter (as ARM wont lock onto long wavelength radars)
3) By using high power X band radar (Irbis being the prime example) you can detect the enemy aircraft or his munitions at long ranges (as stealth does give 400 percent range reduction) as those would have power to detect and track regular aircraft on ranges of 400 km or so.

Kh37 is a bad choice for the Ru team. You would be much better off using a Yahont variant. Or Klub family (we call them differently for internal versions).

Since youve entered the closed beta phase (thats what I assume with all the journalists reviewing their copies) and youve stopped adding units to the game I suppose youre ín the final stages of devolopment (i.e. game testing and bug fixing). Are there still plans for an open beta and if so when ? When is the game to be handed over to paradox for review ? I really like how youve let the forum users into the development process and I think that will help to make the game great. Cant wait to play it!

David Cameron will perform a humiliating U-turn over the warplanes that will fly from the Royal Navy’s planned new aircraft carriers.
Military chiefs have advised him to axe plans to buy the F-35C Joint Strike Fighter after the cost of converting the carriers to fly them trebled to £2billion.
Instead, the Government will buy the F-35B version which takes off and lands like the Harrier jump jet – a move they controversially decided against in the Strategic Defence and Security Review in 2010.

The change of mind is an extreme embarrassment for the Coalition as the jump jet version was Labour’s choice, and when ministers overturned it they derided it as an ‘error’.
Defence Secretary Philip Hammond has asked the Prime Minister to rubber-stamp the controversial proposal after it was ‘formally recommended’ by top brass, the Mail understands.
The Ministry of Defence said in the Strategic Defence and Security Review that the F-35C warplane could fly further and carry more bombs.

But defence chiefs have now warned that the cost of fitting the 65,000-tonne carriers to accommodate them has soared from around £600,000 to almost £2billion. To allow the state-of-the-art planes to take off and land, the vessels need to be fitted with ‘cats and traps’ – a catapult system to launch the aircraft and arrestor wires to stop them on landing from plunging into the sea.
Millions of pounds have already been spent studying how to convert the £6.2billion aircraft carriers with ‘cat and trap’ technology and it will cost around £250million to reverse work already done, according to defence industry sources.
But this is significantly lower than pressing on with refitting which could delay the HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales by another seven years until 2027. However, the latest decision will heighten criticism of the Government for selling its fleet of 70 Harriers – instrumental in winning the Falklands War – to the U.S. for just £100million last year.
A Whitehall source said: ‘There will be short-term pain for the Government but in the long run it is by far the best option. Adapting the carriers is skewing the defence budget out of shape.’
Shadow Defence Secretary Jim Murphy said: ‘Ministers have blown a hole through their budget plans and their own credibility. The Government must explain why they overturned Labour’s preferred option only to now appear to accept that this was the best option.’
If Downing Street agrees to reverse the policy, the decision is expected to be formalised next Monday. A senior government official insisted the decision was not a ‘done deal’ but admitted that ‘clearly there are cost issues’.
An MoD spokesman said the cash-strapped department was finalising its 2012-13 budget and ‘reviewing all programmes, including elements of the carrier strike programme, to validate costs’

I wonder if this means the carriers will be converted back into thier original ski-ramp design if the F-35B is chosen over the "C" model
P.S. why cant the MoD make a decision and stick with it? and why are the tories always convinced that the Royal navy should be nothing more than a costal defence force?-1981 white paper and the new defence review.

It looks like RN would need to invest more in cruise missiles then. As the range of F35B with proper payload is rather small (compared to C variant and other aircraft)

And here's more evidence of how the SDSR was just a money saving exercise. When they switched to the F35C they said it would save money in the long term (lower operating costs), but more importantly would allow for interoperability with French/US carriers and fighters. Now they've realised its going to cost more than they thought everything else goes out the window. At least this means the government has to stop with its holier-than-thou every problem with Defence is Labour's fault claims!

Don't think we could aford not to; if russia takes controll of the northern airports they could launch bombers (Conventional and Nuclear) against Britain itself-then again if defence cuts continue the way they are we would only have half a eurofighter in the whole airforce!
