Texas, Greater German Empire
With the fall of Corpus Christi and the loss of two allies, the morale of the defenders had been shattered and they could not, or would not fight with the same spirit that they had for the last two months and by the end of the month the majority of Texas was now in German hands. Surprisingly enough, for the moment at least the areas of Texas under German control were
happier than those still under the administration of the United States of America.

“Texas and New Mexico have fallen.”
“Well General, what are you going to do about it?” snaps President Thomas.
“Regain control of the rest of the United States, put down these rebels, re-establish supply lines.
Then, we will talk about retaking Texas.” Patton says angrily. “I told your predecessor we should have entered Mexico and smashed them there. You
never win by staying on the defensive. We needed to attack then, now it might be all we can do to ask for a settled peace.”
The tent flaps burst open and an orderly comes in. “Sir, New York City is under attack. No less than 6 enemy carriers and a full army group are conducting an amphibious invasion of the city. They were ashore before anyone noticed and nearly had completed unloading before a Canadian infantry division reached the city. Right now the Canadians are being pushed out of the landward suburbs of the city. Their commander says that they cannot hold on much longer sir!”
“What about the navy? Don’t they have at least 3 battleships in port there?”
“Yessir, that’s about the only reason the Canadians aren’t completely pushed out of the city already. The fleet commander says that once the Germans get their land artillery set up he will have to leave the harbor and will most likely be destroyed by the German carrier fleet.”
“Damnation.”

Two weeks later Texas was fully occupied, most of Louisiana and Oklahoma were under German control, and New England was playing host to around 200,000 German troops. On the upside for the USA their partisan problem had been dealt with, even if they hadn’t yet retaken all of their territories lost to the looting revolutionaries. And Germany had finally assembled another 20 Megaton Fusion Bomb but there were no good military targets to use it upon.
Washington, DC
“Doesn’t the President need to know about this?” Marshall asks.
“The way he told us about the men Hoover put ashore in Europe using one of Atlantic Fleet’s submarines?” snaps Nimitz. “Sure, we’ll get right on that.”
“So you’re saying…” Patton begins.
“That either Hoover or Rowlett or both of them ordered that team to Germany to hit their new Kaiser.”
“The Germans
aren’t lying to us?”
Nimitz nods, “That being said we would have likely gone to war with them regardless. Regardless of that, Hoover has far too much influence and power here and that needs to be dealt with. The country is completely different from just a few months before and I’m not even talking about the German invasion. Territory has been lost, but more importantly ideals have changed. For crying out loud we invaded the Caribbean and what feels like half of South America from the number or troops we have stationed there.”
“So we are looking at what a military backed counter-revolution? Under the guise of countering the current German invasions? I’m listening.”
He nods, “This is how I propose to begin…”
Central America
Unable to directly confront the
Wehrmacht in Texas, the American and Canadians deployed against the suggestions of their respective high commands, a total of one infantry corps to Central America to wreak havoc on German supply lines. A high risk operation for all involved, the gains initially were significant, but follow up divisions failed to support the landings. Three modern divisions and 36,000 men wasted in a foolish attempt to temporarily cut the supply lines for the entire German invasion in Texas and Mexico.
Texas
The whole campaign for the
Wehrmacht had come to somewhat mirror the First World War. A static defense in the West was prepared while the other major push was an attempt to recreate Sherman’s march to the sea, but all the way from Texas. Still there were more than 1000 miles to cover before they reached the Atlantic Ocean and by then the troops in America would be stretched rather thinly. But for now, it was a general pursuit. Within a week though, it was clear that the
Wehrmacht had to expand if the campaign, and more importantly the overall war, in America was to be concluded successfully.
Berlin
“Three and a half
million men?
One Hundred corps!?!? That’s what you want? We will have to strip every able bodied man from the factories and send them to the front leaving only the children and women at home. Wasn’t the use of our atomic weapons supposed to prevent this from occurring? Are you all madmen!?!?” Beck howls incredulously.
“Sir, calm down please,” Field Marshall Bayerlyn says, “first these are our utterly worst case scenarios. Second, our decision to provide German citizenship to any within our territory has been paying off very well and we are obtaining a number of recruits from our *newer* territories. Thirdly, we do
not anticipate having to raise the 100 full corps from reserves, we’ll be raising them partially from our militia and garrison units similar to what we did after we invaded the British Isles late last year. Still, we do have to provide completely new equipment so it will take some time before they will be ready. Say one month for the first group more or less. More than anything right now we need them to plug the holes in the line and hold on to territory, later on, well we’ll see about that.”
“Our agents tell us that the American army has right about 400 total divisions, with 60 to 70 of them being armored divisions. I left the exact numbers in my office safe. Compared to their troop strength in January they haven’t lost any divisions based on the number of divisions existing on paper, though I am sure they have taken murderous losses in terms of actual manpower. For now at least it tells us something, we have destroyed about as many divisions in the last few months as they have been able to deploy.” Carnaris says with practiced ease. “Before you ask we are still working on those American agents. We haven’t gotten much from them, but the little we have gotten from them indicates they were likely OSS agents infiltrated into Germany through Portugal. I’m rather sure that the Portuguese had no idea they were inserted through their country, I would advise against invading them as long as we are still at war with America.”
“Noted. What about Romania?”
“I wouldn’t worry about them. They have right about 100 total divisions, almost no manpower to reinforce those divisions and resources that are easier to trade for than capture. For now at least.
