The Finnish government answer the Soviets ultimatum with a strong no. Some hours after the Finnish response, Soviet Union declares war on Finland. On the first hours in the war, Soviet bombards cities and military camps with planes.
Soviet tactical bombers starts to ground attack Finnish defence forces in northern Karelia. The lost soldiers is replaced with new manpower which is slowly but steadily lowered.
Soviet fighters is spotted in the Baltic Sea, the two coastal cruisers is ordered to patrol near the Finnish coast. They spot military manoeuvres in Tallinn.
After some days, the two Finnish ships spots 5 enemy Soviet ships. Engagement is started.
The two Finnish coastal cruisers quickly manages to sink one of the five ships and manages to damage one of the two battleships heavily. One of the two Finnish ships, Väinämöinen is damaged heavily but still in order to defend itself.

Finland goes victoriously out from this battle and is ordered to rebase in Turku and repair Väinämöinen. The Soviet navy looses two destroyers and a battleship. This shameful defeat for the Soviets boosts the Finish moral and the great news are quickly sent to all parts of Finland.
USA accepts to send help to Finland, but it seems it never reaches Finland as nothing is received. At the same time another division is modernised.
A new year comes, 1940 and the Finnish government it's time to make a change in the ideological idea of Finland to make the country more better. Field Marshall Mannerheim suggests to make the Finnish army more as a standing army. The government decides that Mannerheim is right and the Finnish army is transformed to a more standing one. The manpower experience is increased, also the organization level is increased. The time and cost to upgrade is lowered, something that is really good. But the gearing bonus is lowered.
On the evening of March 30, Soviet army starts a huge offensive against the central parts of the border. Approximately 320 000 Soviet soldiers stands against 45 000 brave Finnish soldiers. Field Marshall Mannerheim orders that free division nearby shall be ordered to help the attacked province.
The Finnish resource situation, without the rare materials Finland wouldn't be able to go "green" on all other. The most of the coal and oil is traded from Germany while the steel comes from Sweden. The free manpower has steadily lowered from the start of the war.
