    Very cool.

    I suggest making Adygei and Grozny free of Russia in 1836, perhaps as a new Adygea and / or Daghestan nation for the north Caucasus. Russian control extended to the white line at that date.



    You might also consider adding Sulu or something similar in Mindanao.

    I think the removal of Qing rule in Haishenwei and Kyzyl is just a cheap way to create a Sino-Russian borders as in OTL, Haishenwei wouldn't be lost if Qing wasn't at war with a GP every five years, and Tuva only joined Russia in 1914, which is two years after Qing collapsed, which won't necessarly happen ingame

    I have a lot of RL stuff going on so that's a priority at the moment. I try to at least write down the changes I want to make for the next version, so even if there's little actual modding as that takes much more time, the behind-the-scenes thinking is still going on.

    Personally I'm thinking of broadening the scope of the mod. Maybe open up a few related threads where people can input their knowledge. For example I'd like to take a look at the province names together with the community. A recent thread unearthed a lot of misnaming in only one state in Australia. Link

    I do urge everyone to post bugs or ommissions in the mod, so that I know what I should add/change. This is as much your mod as it is mine, half the changes are a result of people sharing their knowledge on a subject.

    How about minor additions to the start up pop culture/ethic composition? Or work with cores/releasable nations?

    Both easy changes that fit within the realm of the mod's theme.

    First suggestions is the removed the South Italian Pops from Odessa. Never ever could I find in the history of Ukraine sizeable italian settlement. Definitely nothing close to 16% of one of Ukraine major cities.

    I would add minority Italian pops to Chambery Annecy Corsica and Corfu.

    It might be a reference/throwback to Genoa's territory over there a la EU3. However, you may be right that 16% (especially centuries after the fact) could be a bit much.

    Even if that was the case it would be in a crimean province not in odessa and it would be North italian not south Italian.

    The Italians barely settled those areas they where mostly greek speaking anyhow.

    I just picked this up, so here are a few comments. First, I think you should give Outer Manchuria back to China or lower the life rating. I tried 3 quick test games, and each time Spain colonized that area right away then took over Korea. I don't think that's a desired result. Second, if you're going to give Chinese cores to the area around lake Balkhash and Tannu Tuva, you might as well just give China the land as well. Giving China cores there implies that China controlled the region (that's your reasoning on the first page), so why not give China the land to begin with? I know that China controlled the area near lake Balkhash until a treaty with Russia moved the border to its current location, so if that's what you're worried about you can make a decision similar to the Vladivostock one where Russia takes the land from China.

    I DLed this and, playing as the US, enacted the Alaska Purchase event, only to annex not just Alaska, but the entire Russian Empire as well. I'm guess this must be a bug from this mod, as it's the only one I have installed. Anyone else have this problem, and can it be solved without starting a new game? :/

    Update:

    The last two weeks I've picked up this mod again and I'm about halfway to releasing a new beta release. Changes I've made:
    -Took notice of the feedback I got here and from the inclusion in other mods (so the Vladivostok is no longer terra nullius as that too often meant that other countries got it instead of Russia)
    -Added a lot of new countries to the world map. Indonesian princely states, Kuwait, Rio Grande do Sul, etc.
    -Fleshed out the new nations more (they used to be carbon copies when it came to upper house composition, etc.)
    -Revised the concept of colonization. It used to include all the parts where people didn't live (northern Canada, Siberia, etc.). Now it's only the places that do not have a solid claim to them. North America now only has the Oregon Country (Washington, Oregon, British Columbia) as terra nullius. Those were the only places where there were competing claims. The other places where uninhabited sure, but they had pretty solid claims. The colonization NF only claimed a colony anyway. For immigration you have POP and Immigration NFs.

    Some additional news:

    -Liferatings around the globe will be redone, so that the now colonized Canadian north doesn't become a paradise by 1840. At the moment, almost every civilized province has a 35 liferating. This will be change as frontier provinces such as the Scandinavian and Canadian north and the interior of Alta California (Las Vegas, etc.) will get far lower liferatings. Greenland would maybe get only a 5, much less than the 35 it has now. Ofcourse this will have to be balanced out with adding/removing terrain modifiers regarding POP migration, etc. so that you get realistic settlement movmements. Administrative efficiency, gotten by making bureaucrats move to the state results in the liferating to increase. If you want your gold producing provinces in the interior (Yukon, Australia, etc.) to make a lot of money, you need to send bureacrats to govern the area. Goldrush events will increase the liferating on its own (from 10 to 20 for example), but you will need to have a governmental presence to really exploit those provinces. I plan to make this work for Africa as well but ofcourse much less than in more civilized areas.

    After I release Beta 3 I plan to work on the first real release (some preliminary work has been done already). I'll try to contain this:
    -Redo states (similar to what OHGamer has done with his mod, but do it in such a way that you can get the world as it looked like in RL 1936. An example would be to shape the Middle East according to the colonial administrative areas and not by Ottoman villayets. This'll make 1836 less historic than OHGamer's, but the end result can be more historic).
    -Possibly include OHGamer's River Mod if I can get permission.
    -Add a few events for the new countries and changes to the 1836 setupt I've made.
    -Incorporate the changes that AHD will make to the game into 1836 (more realistic division of China, organize Japan in a similar way with daimyo's as substates, etc.)

    Below is work-in-progress of the world map that I used to plan the new countries and the rearranging of territory (try to spot the differences with the current version ):


    It's huge though, so it might take a while to load.

    Loved this mod keep up the good work. Good to see you added Rio Grande Do Sul. A few things from the PDM Mods map where more accurate then this and some things from this mod where more accurate then PDMs version. I suggest you look into them.

    The Rivers mod would be great also dont forget about those Boer States. I would rather them not be there at the start its so unhistroical. That is if you cant come up with an event/script to get them into the game at a latter time.

    Also I would put off fixing the starting cultures/ethnicity/nationalities of the pops to be more historical.

    I have released a pre-release version of 1836 Improved Beta 3. It doesn't have all the features I want to add in yet but it does feature a lot of the new countries, reshuffled provinces and the revised country and province names (which are optional as they're seperate files that you can remove).     If you have problems with the new countries' flags not loading, go to your gfx/flags folder and remove all files that start with flagfiles. The game will recreate these files on game start with the new flags included.
