“You would not believe your ears, comrade, on the reports that I received. I received word that the Austrians... want to end the Dual Monarchy! Comrade, I'm not done yet. The Hungarians... the Hungarians created a diplomatic incident by wanting to keep the Dualism! Those monarchists are mad, I'd say! Too much inbreeding!”
-Maxim Litvinov

“The United States of America is no more. This corrupt regime of greedy bankers, businessmen and industrialists must fall down. And then arise... a new America. The American Union States. We are the only ones who can 'Share Our Wealth'. We are the only ones who can stop Syndicalism. We are the only ones who can save America.”

The End of the Union

It seems that the Turko-Kazakh war that raged on for 6 months was on its final phase. Turkestan has encompassed most of Alash Orda. The Kazakhs, however, are still willing to fight.

In the Far East, the kingdom of Qing continues on her reformation. GRU wants to keep a more closer look at the ancient state but the lack of budget forbids them to add Qing into their plate. To make things optimistic for them, reports have gathered that Japan starts to adopt, surprisingly, isolation policies just like before the Meiji period. This assures them that Japan won't make any move for now. It seems that Japan is content with her conquests. But Mother Russia isn't content, her former lands must be returned to her.

The tension in America is still high as both Syndicates and America First are now on protest. Since the Syndies' protest on the 2nd of January, aka New Years Day Strike, a huge portion of the industry was paralyse as a result. It has been a month, something must be done. Garner made a move on the 25th, to the surprise of Long and the cabinet, the newly elected president decides to negotiate with Reed. The negotiation went on for five days without an end in sight but Garner persist, by February 4th, Long had enough. He retaliated with more protest and even marched towards Washington DC itself, it was known as the White House Riot. Calling to an end to the silly negotiation and just disperse the Syndie strike with force. Many of the protesters commonly shouted for Reed's death and accused Garner as a Syndie sympathiser.

riot2.jpg

The America First Party's protests acted as magnets to discontent civilians, many joined in to express their outrage. Buildings were burned and attacks were rife on the streets of D.C.

------------

15th of February 1937. Washington D.C.

“Ready?”

“Yeah.” and another one replied the same.

The street was messy and crowded but the boys have their eyes on their prey, Huey Long. Finding that man while being trained constantly by a GRU officer since the New Years Day Strike is difficult. Things are getting hectic now, they need to grab this opportunity now to save America before things get much worse. Before Long gets away again behind the protection of his Minute Men. Just three men volunteered to the GRU for this task with only just a month of training, they only know the basics.

Long is walking with his supporters without the Minute Men. A perfect opportunity, they thought, and also the only opportunity they have.

A fourth man appeared “Good Luck! The workers of the world are all counting on you to stop this Reactionary beast.” It was the GRU officer.

At the third day of the White House Riot, an event would be pivotal to American history. An unknown person approached Long quickly took a shot on the AF leader. He fired his gun again but a supporter received it as he tries to disable the gunman. Long fell on to the ground and his supporters gathered up on him. Shouting and screaming pour out on the street. Confusion reign over the chaos. The intelligence officer can't make out what happen after one of his men made the shot. He saw with worry, entering the scene were Long's Minute Men. They are as dumb as he thought. Confused, they start firing on the crowd. More shots were heard. That was his other two. A few seconds later, the exchanging of shots ceased. Among the dead in the crossfire, it was his 2nd and the 3rd man.

“Damn! There goes my pawns.”

His curiosity is killing him. What the hell happened to Long? Then he saw with completely dismay, among the fallen, Long stood up and aside from the wound on his shoulder. He was completely fine.

“****ing Yanks couldn't even simply kill a man!”

He took out his pistol. He made a step out of the alley but stopped completely after that. More Minute Men were coming in. It's over.

“****! The Director won't be pleased.”

--------------

When the news of the assassination attempt circulated throughout the city, the violence instantly escalated in the American capital. General MacArthur and other cabinet members strongly advised Garner to declare martial law and send in the military to retain order as the police, despite reinforcements from the neighbouring areas, couldn't handle the situation.

riot1.png

Street fights between Firsters and Syndicalists and the police surged in Washington after the assassination.

Garner refused to take the advise. Instead, he made a nationwide announcement appealing for peace among the citizens, the CSA and AF supporters in particular. The move was bold but it was risky as well. The whole event backfired as discontent elevated once more. General MacArthur was fed up with the whole affair and stepped in. With the support of the military and several politicians, he overthrow President Garner, took control of the country and declared martial law.

The military were finally sent in. Dispersed the riot with both CSA and AF retreating back to their respective turfs in the South and the North. Long fearing that MacArthur's control continue to grow, he decided that now is the time to claim America for America First. Huey Long created American Union State, geographically similar to the Confederate States of 1861 without the states of Virginia, Tennessee and Texas. Its paramilitary is now mobilized for war.

Siberia

An exhausted division reached the province of Aleksandrovskoye but 4 Mongolian divisions made a counter-attack at the 13th of February. The lone tank division tried to resist the adversary until the Russian infantry reinforce them but the chances of them getting reinforced is little to nothing. After 2 days, the division was repelled. However, the province was successfully defended after the rest of the Red army.

At the fight for Novosibirsk. With the unforgiving frozen Siberian winter, Mongolian raids, and the poor logistic system have resulted in the most morale-draining 2 month long battle for the province. The frontlines in tactical level was almost non-existent. The Mongolians, since the start, have avoided pitch battles, always resort to hit-and-run tactics and supply raids. Usually after a fierce gunfight with the Mongol cavalry, the Red troops refuses to move forward for days fearing of ambush or swift counter-attacks, furthur slowing the advance. More Russian troops died from diseases like Hypothermia or from starvation than from actual combat.

Winter_war3.jpg

The harsh Siberian elements and the sly Mongolian asymmetric tactics have taken a toll on the Red Army.

Since Operation Ivan II started 4 months ago, Aleksandrovskoye is the only strategic gain the Red Army achieved. The Field Marshalls however were became more optimistic, saying that “things will get smoother after this”. Are they right on this prediction?

I guess Garner will be remembered as, probably, the most unpopular president in US history.

Yes. Austria wants to end the Dualism (checked the files, it says 5% chance) and Hungary wants to stay on to it.

Well the Americans proved to be utterly useless, the obvious solution is to have the Soviet Union conquer the world if the oppressed masses are too incompetent to liberate themselves!

@Deus Eversor,@yourworstnightm - I know! Can't wait till winter is over.

@Battle bunny - good one! :p

@Zhuge Liang - Let's see how our American comrades perform on the upcoming civil war.

Finishing an update. I'll maybe post it today or tomorrow. But let's hope it'll be today :D

The Second Red Tide

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Pssshhh! Show-offs!”
-Nikolai Bukharin when he saw the welcome parade

“...we must remain strong! The Godless Syndicalists will exploit our weakness. They will tempt us with false promises. Europe and the rest of the world will soon be engulfed by the second red tide. Many nations have drown on the first, so we must work together with our friends and allies to create an indestructible coalition. We will be strong as a cliff against the red tide...”
-Franz Von Papen, Reichskanzler

Tinders of the Revolutionary Fire

9th of April 1937. Moscow.

“Yes, I heard about the news but not the details of it.”

He was looking outside by his window. It was the beginning of April. The snow is melting. Soon the snow will be gone and replace by mud and rain. “I hate Spring.” he thought to himself. Last Spring the Red Army was winning the civil war. “Golly. It's been a year.”

“What do you think about it?” the foreign minister interrupts

“The Ukraine? It was a surprise, I have to tell you that.” He looked back at the foreign minister staring at him “What happened?”

Litvinov instantly started to explain “Ah yes, comrade. The separatist state of Ukraine, since its independence, have always rely on its grain trade with Germany in exchange for military protection. In short, their agriculture is their lifeline. With the slump on the market in the capitalists world, their grain trade took a hit and Ukraine is now struggling. The unrest is high on the country as food prices soars up. There are already protests on Kiev, Kharkov and major Ukrainian cities. Khruschev then made a speech in Rada (Ukrainian parliament) calling for huge reforms...”

“Khrushchev?” he murmured to himself

“...his Socialist reforms are very popular with the proletariat, for obvious reasons. The king, Vasily I, then closed the parliament and invited Khrushchev to create a new government. He then promised to transform the country in just 100 days, passing numerous reforms.”

“Khrushchev. Khrushchev. Khrushchev. Why is that name sounds so familiar?” continues to talk to himself quietly.

“After the reforms, the proletariat are still not satisfy, they want the monarchy to end permanently. With the control of the military, the king was forcefully abdicated. France and Britain quickly established relationship and recognize the new government.”

the foreign minister then finishes “Comrade, it's a good news that a new nation becomes red but Ukraine is OUR land. What are we suppose to do?”

“Nothing. We won't recognize them. We won't antagonize them. Nothing. We will deal with these separatists when the time comes, their Syndicalist allies are cowards anyway.”

“Da. By the way, comrade, Field Marshall Tukhachevsky is here to report as you ordered.”

the Chairman of Soviet Russia smiled and nodded “Send him in once we are done.” he went to his desk and start shuffling and scanning the papers “What about America?”

The new KGB chief Yagoda was shortly replaced by Sergei Uritskiy. Uritskiy promised not just to root out traitors and counter-revolutionaries but to reduce corruption on the bureaucracy as well. Bukharin was convinced that he made a good decision. (-10% consumer goods)

sovietcabinet1937mar.png

The new year budget and new projects was presented to the committee. More KGB troops are being trained. The army and the air force is being expanded. On the top of that, new equipments are being produced to be sent to the troops on the frontline. So far, only the last one was considered as top priority and is the only one that's being funded.

“Well, America is in the same shithole where we were last year.”

“The Reactionaries on the South seceded from the union. Of course, war was declared. Comrade Reed took this as an opportunity and secedes as well. What they have now is a three way war. The states on the western coast of the country secedes too, very similar to the Siberians, but stayed neutral. Britain and France have sent huge amount of men and materials...”

“...send aid to our comrades as well. Both soldiers and supplies.” the chairman interjects

the foreign minister was speechless for a second then “yes. Of course, comrade. We will.”

“Proskurov told me he failed to assassinate Long” the foreign minister doesn't need to know that but Bukharin continues anyway “this wouldn't happened if only we succeeded.”

“To look on the positive side, it's Long who started the war. Not Reed.”

Bukharin then looked at him

“What I believe.” he holds for a couple of seconds “In my opinion, Long would create a huge distraction for the Reactionaries in the White House, it's better then just Reed against the whole of America.”

“I hope you're right. They have to deal with Canada as well. They are like Finland in our civil war.” there was silence for four seconds “What else is there?”

Litvinov opened his folder “ermm... Alaska was seized by Canada. Hawaii declared independence, Japan seized the Pacific island of Guam. USA lost their grip on their colonies; Liberia and Philippines. Liberia was invaded by the French Reactionaries. That's all on the 2nd American civil war.”

He closed the folder and opens a new one. “Arab congress. I'm not sure if you're interested.”

“Just don't go into the details.”

“I'm sure it's to piss off the Turks. They might be useful when we set our eyes on to our western neighbours. Another one is that the king of Spain, who recently had a stroke, has slept into a coma. Let's just hope the old bastard dies.”

He shuffles on the files again for a moment “Germany is sending military aid to La Plata to serve as a counter-weigh against the new Socialist Brazil.” he took a glance on the other paper then chuckled “In Germany, the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) won the election.”

“Psshhh! Those Social-Democrats are one of those pseudo-Socialists, collaborators of the old order. Outcasts. We do not deal with them, not even the Syndicalists bothers with them.”

“I guess, that's all!”

“Excellent. Thank you, comrade Litvinov.”

“oh and I nearly forgot. The 2nd Congress of the Internationale on the Union of Britain is about to start soon. Later on, we will receive our invitations.”

he sighed “I have to deal with those Syndicalists again.”

Maksim Litvinov has already left. The Field Marshall of the Soviet Russia was standing patiently as the chairman was busily stamping and scribbling on papers on his desk. He finally stood up, grabbed his glass and devoured its content.

“How is the trip?”

“It's was quite pleasant, comrade Bukharin.”

he sighed “Good. Anyway...” he dropped his glass on the desk and walked towards the soldier “I am quite disappointed on the army's progress, field marshall.”

“Those are just minor setbacks, comrade chairman. Things will go smoother this time...”

“What happened?” the field marshall gulped, still doesn't know what to answer “Tell me what is wrong!”

Tukhachevsky then took the courage and said “Everything.”

“Everything?”

Tukhachevsky fully explain everything about the situation in Siberia, he did however slightly pleased the chairman Nizhnevartovsk was captured recently and promised more optimistic news after this.

He was dismissed. Bukharin went by the window again, staring at the melting snow. As the field marshall closes the door behind him, he thought to himself “I promised him another 'Tikhvin'. Mikhail, you idiot! Now my career- no! my life depends on it!”

How long's the war against Mongolia taken so far? At this rate the reactionaries and revisionists are going to start the war without you and your armies'll have to walk half way across the world to get to it.

@Zhuge Liang - It's June 1937 in my latest save. I'm still fighting the Mongolians. Where the Red Army is and how it's doing? I don't know :D

@Deus Eversor - I don't know much about Bukharin's personality, I guess I made him a bit harsh but, no, I won't portray him like he was Stalin.

Update tomorrow.

Another Big Red Party

“Looks like they want to surpass the French welcome parade last year” his companion, Litvinov, smiled.

It has been a long trip by ship from St. Petersburg, which will be renamed as Leningrad, to honour the great revolutionary. The ship stopped at Calais, France, where all other delegates were sent too, until the next day then onwards to Portsmouth, Britain where they were welcomed by this.

nelsonclassbb2.jpg

Nelson class battleship

The Republican navy's North Fleet was in the channel to welcome the delegates. Three Nelson class battleships, three Queen Elizabeth class battleships and another 3 Hood class battle cruisers. All firing their huge guns in salvo. Up above in the sky, Sea Gladiators whizzing through the English sky from their carrier, Land and Labour, flagship of the North Sea Fleet and pride of the Republican Navy.

“Psshhh! Show-offs!”

As the ships from Calais reached their destination, the British crowd welcomed the foreign delegates waving their flags, handkerchiefs and whatnot. As the diplomats descend to the British dock of Portsmouth, the band played the Internationale and the cars are all lined up to receive the visitors. The Soviet team have entered their cars.

“I know you don't like to be reminded again and again, comrade, but let's just set aside the doctrinal differences-” the foreign minister is still not done speaking.

Bukharin interrupted “...we are here to develop our friendship with our Socialist comrades and cooperate with them politically, economically and militarily so that Russia and her people will benefit.”

Litvinov guessed that Bukharin gets the point. We are not here to argue. We are here to cooperate.

----------------

London

In this room where the congress will be held, a league of diplomats all busy chatting with one another.

“Congratulations, comrade!” Bukharin said to Vicente Lombardo Toledano, the chairman and the sole ruler of Mexico after Zapata's death. “About time you grabbed those oil rigs from those damn corporate bastards!”. Other delegates in the circle congratulated him too. “Comrades, thank you! Thank you! You're all too kind. I only did that for my people, of course! Imagine this, oil is abundant there in Mehico but the people are still using madera ermm... wood. Imagine that!” The circle shook their heads and utter words to each other in disgust. “The oil companies have suck on our riches for too long now! We should have nationalized the industry long ago but anyway, at least now our homeland's resources go to the people themselves. Otherwise, we will be just a bunch of, as we say in Mehico, piñatas to those capitalists.” the circle nodded in total agreement.

In another circle, they talked about the Balkans, the Austrian government demands for the integration of Bohemia into their lands, the Hungarians wanted Galicia but Austria refused, creating more tension on the dual monarchy. The Bosnians were lucky, Austria let them have their semi-independence. Croatia proclaimed its independence from Hungary. Hungary responded with a declaration of war. Then in the other circle, they talked about what the Arabs did on their own congress. Creating slices of claims on the Ottoman lands as if it was a cake.

Then the American group entered the room, Reed is surely the most popular, everyone greeted him and wish him good luck on the war against the power-hungry MacArthur and that reactionary madman, Huey Long. Bukharin chuckled and looked at Litvinov “Remember when we used to be the most popular ones?” the Soviet diplomat chuckled back in agreement.

Then Bukharin noticed that Reed made a little mistake “...yes, those Anarchists are a pain in the butt. They have always been against on anything we have done. They are sabotaging our plans so we destroyed them.” Forgetting that he is talking to a CNT-FAI. The Soviet chairman then approached the CSA leader and interjects on the conversation, “Comrade Reed! Good luck on liberating your American comrades.”

“You're welcome. And thank you for the supplies and men you've sent. They are very helpful”

acw8.png

“You're welcome. You're welcome. Don't worry, comrade, us Russians have defeated that monster, Wrangel, and those Romanov upstarts. Of course, you too can kill your monsters!”

“Thank you, comrade! In fact, I'm sure you know that comrade Lenin was my inspiration on this revolution.”

Everybody was watching him. Everybody was watching the war unfolds and the war wasn't going pleasant as they expected. Reed knows that. They failed to take Washington D.C., Long's paramilitary forces have made it to Pennsylvania and threatening the city of New York. The port city to the outside world. The port city where help from the Internationale pours in.

usa1937apr2.png

The British team now entered the room. All members then took their seats for the opening speech. Bukharin took his seat, Litvinov is on his right. He looked left. He set his eyes on this man, he is quite old, he is bald, thin but strong and have glasses on him. He stood up and gave his hand to the old man but the old man said no then thanked him anyway. He looks Indian so he must be from Bengal. Both of them took their seats.

“Nikolai Bukharin” he introduced himself.

“Ah, I do know you, comrade. The revolutionary who freed the Russian people from the oppressive iron grip of that man-child pretending to be an emperor, Wrangel” The old man then introduced himself “I am Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi”

“It's great to meet you, comrade Gandhi. Uhhmm.. what's you're role? Comrade Gandhi?”

“Commissar of Security”

“Hmm... purging all those counter-revolutionaries, pro-Royalist worms in your land, eh?”

Gandhi laughed “No. No. Every Indian was grateful to see the British colonizers to leave our lands.” but the smiled ceased, he sighed “However, Bengal is in turmoil. The government is unpopular. The peasants don't want to cooperate to the state. They hide their rice from us and they kill their livestocks rather than giving them away.”

“Then you should punish them. The resources of the state should be shared among the proletariat. Set some examples.”

but the old man shook his head “No. No. No. Comrade Bukharin. One should lead by example. In order for one to be a good leader, one must be a good follower.” he continues “Hear their plight and do something about it. Why are they angry? Why do they hide their rice from us? Communication, comrade, is a-”

Then the Chairman of the Congress of Trade Unions, Tom Mann, grabbed their attention, halting Bukharin and Gandhi's conversation as well as the other's. “Comrades, welcome to the 2nd Congress of the International...”

It seems like no one is truly winning the 2nd ACW. At least you're mostly winning in Russia.

Loving this AAR. One little thing though, would the UoB have Queen Elizabeth class battleships? It seems likely to me they would have renamed the class something more republican.

@guy_montag - thank you! :D

@SovietAmerika - Yup. It seems there's no quick winner. ACW is going to be long, it seems.

@Ahriman - Thanks! Yes, I did noticed that after I've done that paragraph but I decided to keep it that way. Apparently, the class names went to default because I combined Kaiserreich with Cold War mod.

Alright. Next time, I'll put the Syndie versions instead :D

The Second Congress of the International

May 1937. London.

The most popular agenda of the day was America. Reed made no hesitation on stirring his colleagues to bring together a massive support on the CSA's struggle. The French and the British were waving red flags since the First Red Tide of 1920s; Russia, a decade later, went into Bolshevik control. Soon America will. The might of the Socialists have never been this fearful to Berlin, Ottawa and Vienna.

The Syndicalists understood this as well as they are now concerting a united effort on aiding the Red Americans. The obvious contributors are the Union of Britain and the Commune of France. Soviet Russia joined too and Centroamerica and Mexico as well.

2ndcongress11.png

Brazil have also asked for help from the Internationale, in reaction to the sudden German aid to La Plata ever since the peaceful revolution. The Brazilian border is now being fortify by the combined effort of Brazilian and French trade unions. The British have sent military advisors and manufacturers to strengthen the army.

2ndcongress14.png

After Pereira's turn, the president of Centroamerica, Jose Manuel Fortuny have announce their country's “destiny”. To unite all the Latin Americans up to the Panama canal. The destiny immediately gathered support from the members, the thought of having the Panama Canal on their hands is more than enough. All supported it except Mexico, who is wary of their southern neighbour.

2ndcongress17.png

In the end of the congress, the members came up with the final act. A declaration of brotherhood and readiness against the oppressive imperialistic ruling class throughout the world until the world's proletariat are free.

-----------------

And on the 7th of May 1937, the John Maclean is preapring to dock on Paris airfield. John Maclean was an airship, named after Britain's first chairman. It is the largest in the world and one of the proud achievements of the Internationale, a propaganda item that showcase the industrial and technological might of the Union of Britain. Among the passengers were the French delegates from the congress and below on the airfield, the BBC (British Broadcasting Cooperative) was filming the landing to be shown in this new gadget that is circulating called the “television”.

At 7:25 p.m. local time, the John Maclean caught fire then suddenly a huge burst of fire broke out, creating a huge mushroom shaped cloud on the rear of the aircraft. The BBC caught it on film with the reporter, Herbert Middleton describing the tragedy.

“It burst into flames! It burst into flames, and it's falling, it's crashing! Get out of the way! Get out of the way! Get this, Charles! Get this, Charles! It's fire and it's crashing! It's crashing terrible! Oh, my, get out of the way, please! It's burning and bursting into flames, this is the worst of the worst catastrophes in the world. Ohhhhh! It's–it's–it's the flames, oh, four- or five-hundred feet into the sky and it ... it's a terrific crash, ladies and gentlemen. It's smoke, and it's flames now ... and the frame is crashing to the ground, not quite to the mooring-mast. Oh, the humanity and all the passengers screaming around here. I told you, I can't even talk to people whose friends are on there. Ah! It's–it's–it's–it's ... o–ohhh! I–I can't talk, ladies and gentlemen. Honest, it's just laying there, a mass of smoking wreckage. Ah! And everybody can hardly breathe and talk, and the screaming. Lady, I–I'm sorry. Honest: I–I can hardly breathe. I–I'm going to step inside, for I cannot see it. Charles, that's terrible. Ah, ah—I can't. I–I'm gonna have to stop for a minute because I've lost my voice. This is the worst thing I've ever witnessed.”

The tragedy resulted with 36 dead. The Chairman of the Bourse Générale du Travail survived the crash. Britain's morale was gutted that day and both countries went into state of mourning.

Still on the Balkans, a congress consists of Romania, Greece, Ottoman Empire and Serbia have met up in Belgrade and decided on a new order in the Balkans, mainly Bulgaria. Berlin quickly went on to Bulgaria's side to, at least, scare the new coalition from invading one of her allies in the Great War.

As the snow melts coupled with the introduction of new tactics to counter the mobile Mongolian cavalry, the Red Army's performance shoots up dramatically. In the 10th of May, the vital strongpoint in Angutikha just by the other side of the river Enisey was captured by Ivan II North, giving the Soviets a strategic advantage over the province. Then the city of Novosibirsk was captured by Ivan II South, 17th of May, 1937. More victories were earned by glorious Red Army as the Mongolians were driven out of Tomsk at the 23rd after a couple of battles.

The 2nd American Civil War is not going too well for the Reds so far. The vital city of New York was captured by the Minutemen and cut off all aids. Fortunately, the advancing troops are now trapped inside after a fierce counter attack from the Reds. Fear grows on both sides as the Federal troops have made a come back by pushing both Firsters and Syndicalists reaching all the way to Georgia on the South, sacking the American Union State's capital, and all the way to Ohio on the North, slicing CSA into two.

24th of May 1937. Barcelona.

Alfonso was late. He was never late before but he did on the most important event he'll probably have. He knocked on the door and told the password. The door opened and went in quickly. It was dark, the entire house was only lighted by a couple of light bulbs. “You're late!” One of them told him. Alfonso wasn't surprised at his mates are furious. Another one approached him, gave him a Mauser and a small bag filled with clips. They all gathered to the small table with a couple of papers neatly placed. After minutes of explaining, the group is ready.

“Workers of Spain. This is our time. Viva la revolucion!”

It's gonna be a while before the war's over in America, but MacArthur seems to be kicking major ass. I hope he keeps the US a dictatorship, in my humble opinion.
