The First Congress of the Third International

The big red party

The Commune of France have announce that the first Congress of the Third International is opened. The event was meticulously planned. Invitations were sent out instantly. French prestige and also the Internationale's are at stake here. A low turn out and the world will laugh and ridicule.

To the relief of the French, the attendance was perfect. All socialist countries have sent their representatives. Socialist Republic of Italy, Union of Britain, Bengal, Georgia, Centroamerica and Mexico. Notably, Centroamerica was there. The same country that distancing herself from the Internationale for the last six years due to fears of an American or German invasion to prematurely end their young Socialist state. A minor screw up happened when the Mexicans borrowed a plane from the capitalist USA as they could have just provided Mexico with one. Regardless, the whole thing went well so far.

Socialists parties from various countries were invited to attend as well. The two of the largest movements were the Spanish CNT-FAI and the Combined Syndicates of America, the successor of IWW.

The Russian team also prepare to depart from Saint Petersburg. Bukharin decided to go there himself and head the Russian representatives. Priding themselves as one of the pioneers of Socialism, it'll be stupid if they didn't attend even if they are in the middle of a war. Speaking of the war, victory is far from their grasps but things are doing well after Voroshilov happily reported the breakthrough at Rybinsk. He removed the thought from his mind. He should focus on the important and prestigious event at France. His generals will take care of the war.

The Chairman of the Comite de Salut Public, Daniel Guerin officially opened the ceremony:

“Welcome to the first ever congress of the Third International. It is an honour to host this vital event where we, men and women of the proletariat, follows the tradition that first started in London with close partnership with our British friends. Continuing that tradition, we are here in Paris, the city of light. The light that lets Socialism shines throughout the world. With the light of Socialism, we gave inspiration, motivation and courage to the workers not just in our countries but throughout the world”

A huge applause was given to Guerin.

The congress presses on until “Ladies and gentlemen, here is a man whom the workers could look on to as he participated in not just one revolution but three! His endless determination to liberate the people of Russia from the grasp of the Aristocrats. Please welcome, Chairman of the Soviet Russia, Nikolai Bukharin.”

It's his turn.

There is loud bang. It was a briefcase smash against the floor.

“How dare they!” Bukharin fumed. Litvinov tries to calm him down.

“They are a SHAME to the spirit of the revolution!” still feels the humiliation draining him

The division within the Internationale is now obvious. To the east, the Bolsheviks whom are the only country who follows the doctrine of Totalism based on state controlled economics and the total involvement of the state in internal affairs. While on the west, the Syndicalists is more of a federation of Trade Unions. A decentralized form of government and economics.
The Syndicalists considers the Soviets as 'radical statists, too extreme and too oppressive' while the Soviets looked at the Syndicalists as 'indecisive, ineffective and lacks a backbone on managing their country'.

Germany in the next day condemns the International as nothing more but imperialists wanting to crush the fatherland and her allies, friends and colonies. The International simply ignores the Germans.



The show must go on.

Different Shades of Red

Jose Diaz Ramos, The chairman of CNT-FAI began his speech. CNT-FAI is an Anarcho-Syndicalist group in Spain. Their influence is nationwide but mainly lies in Catalonia and also have a good footing in the regions of Andalusia and Aragon. Their popularity has risen after the Black Monday hits Spain. Just like the Bolsheviks, the CNT-FAI have faced prosecution twice as the monarchist government attempts to permanently destroy the movement. Both on the last week of March and the 2nd week of April. Their organisation was damaged by these attacks but they still continue with their struggle.

Ramos bowed and he then took his seat. The congress applauds until Guerin stood up. “Comrades! We admire the Spanish people's determination against the tyrant king and his reactionary assistants. France promise to support this selfless movement and we deeply ask my Socialist brethren to do the same”. Arthur Horner of the Union of Britain backed up the pledge. Bukharin also joined the pledge and added that Russia will be willing to invade Spain herself to liberate their Iberian comrades.

CNT-FAI receives promise of support from the congress

This is where the two side are, again, different. While the Bolsheviks are willing to go far as waging war. Assisting them directly. The Syndicalists disagrees, they think they should take an indirect approach. Which favours isolationism but is willing to help Socialist movements indirectly. Which is pretty evident during the 2nd Russian Civil War where they did significantly aid the Soviets but are very reluctant to protect Russia from Germany. The guarantee of Soviet independence was only made possible thanks to the plea of the British Maximists and the French Solerians.

Jack Reed took the podium after an introduction. Jack Reed have witnessed the 2nd Proletarian Revolution in Russia which was lead by Lenin during that time. Electrified by the experience, he return to the United States and founded his own Socialist group called the CSA. The Combined Syndicates of America is a Syndicalist group with a small blend of Anarchism but not as strong as CNT-FAI's. Later on, they absorbed the IWW, increasing their strength. Their influence mainly imprinted on the industrial heartlands of America located on the north east. Priding themselves as the only American political group who includes female members and non-Whites such as Blacks and Chinese.

Reed like the previous one, Ramos, humbly bowed to the audience as they clap. The Internationale clearly understands the value of America if the country became Red. The French also made a pledge to their American comrades and mentioned the American War of Independence. Not to offend their close friends, the British. Guerin emphasis the English king and the ruling class as the main enemy not the British people. Britain definitely joined the pledge. With the CSA in control of America, Canada will be caged and helpless. Mexico also joined the pledge to give her a breathing space on their northern border. Bukharin joined the pledge too. The Russians don't want to be outdone.

Bukharin went into the podium again. Introducing the next agenda. Latin America. He assures Litvinov that he will be 'pleasing' this time. Trying not to awake the friction between the two shades of Red. First off, he thanked Mexico, Centroamerica and various Central and South American socialist parties for attending the congress. He encouraged the two countries to be a model to the rest of Central and South America. Afterwards, he then discussed about the unemployment and the low standard of life for the inhabitants of the continent. Unless you're from the church, the military, a capitalist or you're the 'el presidente' himself, of course!

“We, proud members of the Internationale. We, lucky band of workers, farmers and soldiers who successfully liberated ourselves from the ancient regimes, should help the development of Socialism in Latin America to improve the lives of the proletariat and to finally liberate themselves from the ruling class that poisons the land. The ruling class consists of the aristocratic officers, who enjoys the military funds for themselves while their brave soldiers are ill-equipped and under paid; elite families forming an alliance, an oligarchy, to monopolise the economy; the clergies of the Roman Catholic Church, preaching obsolete ideas and tightly controls the society within their grasps and political dynasties who become tyrants just because of their last names and their popularity. Only to left promises unfulfilled, mislead and abuse the country when they won. This combined evil plagues this land full of promises. Comrades, North America and Europe asides, they are the most ready to receive the wonders of Socialism as the blight known as Black Monday have settled on Brazil sooner the rest will follow. With our help and guidance, the Latin American people will liberate themselves and in turn, they will help us on liberating the rest of the world.

The congress focuses on Latin America due to its growing radicalism and unemployment

An applaud erupted, flooding the room with it. On the eyes of the Syndicalists, Bukharin redeemed himself. The fact that Latin America is the most ready compare to Asia and Africa is nearly correct but to the Russian team, there are two reasons. It is still unknown what is Bukharin's other reason why he chose the continent farthest from Russia.

We, the People Who Arranges the Blocks

Another speech has opened. It was Arthur Horner, General Secretary of the Union of Britain. Horner was a Welsh trade union leader during the days of the British empire. Truly a member of the working class. First work in a grocer, a delivery boy and later worked on the coal mines of Merthyr. He founded the Syndicalist Party of Great Britain which astronomically grew after the infamous “Peace with Honour”. The SPGB lead the revolution aided by the British Army and the Royal Navy. Six weeks later, they establish the Union of Britain.

“The role of the women in the worldwide revolution is essential. While the men of Britain went to fight on the trenches of the Great War, the women filled the gaps that kept the British industry on its full efficiency. If the International wants to remove the inequality on class, nationality and race why not gender? Keeping them inside the house when you can harness the potential of the female proletarians and let them contribute greatly for the good of the country and the revolution. Let this injustice stop! Let this obsolete thinking stop!

Women of the world unite! Long live the revolution!”

There was a round of applause and Horner bowed. After the applause, Horner then introduced Dr. John Mathai, the chairman of Bengal. Dr. Mathai first entered public service as India's first Railway Minister. He served part-time as a professor in University of Madras from 1922 until 1925 when the British Revolution flared in the home isle. Bengal was born out of the chaos that spread into India.

“Thank you, comrade Horner. I do agree with what the general secretary have said. The people's revolution is a joint struggle of the working men and the working women. We are proud to say that Bengal, only Bengal, has liberated the womankind from the old order. With this joint struggle, we will reunite India from the Reactionaries and the dark, obsolete and ancient ideals that are based on ignorance and oppression!"

“But to reunite India, I am afraid to say that we cannot do this alone. Our armies are brave but they lack the training and experience that Delhi has. Delhi is protected by the evil Entente, an army of Indians who fought on the Great War serving their Bourgeois masters. Respected members of the Internationale, aid us on our struggle and we will forever grateful. On behalf of the Indian people, we will march with you on liberating the workers of the world! Long live the people!”

Both the Communards and the Unions have sent military advisors and aid. The Soviets also sent theirs but less than the previous two. Manoeuvring through the world's geopolitics but not wanting to create tension with the Syndicalists or outstretch their own resources.

“Risorgimento!” exclaimed by Giacomo Matteotti in the middle of his speech. Matteotti is the head of the popular Social-Reformist Union which doctrine is similarly aligned with that of the British and less radical than the French. Italy was divided into two after the Great War. The Papal state on the north and the resurrected Kingdom of Naples on the south. The Italians rejected the new monarch which results in numerous of uprisings. Then the Anarcho-Syndicalists launched a revolution, with the support of the people. After two months, the revolution was won and the Socialist Republic of Italy was created.

“The unification of the Italian people! Not only unification of the Italian proletarians but to obscure and limit the influence and power of the Roman Catholic Church. A corporation that profits by keeping us in the dark. Like the Russians, Centroamericans and the Indians, we need the cooperation of the Internationale with our struggle to unify our brothers and sisters!”

As usual, all of the members backed up South Italy, diplomatically, however only France guarantees that she will join her military ally, Socialist Republic of Italy, into war against North Italy. Litvinov suggests to stay with a diplomatic aid. Saying they shouldn't intervene with the military partnership preventing unnecessary tension between France and Russia.

Finally, the Chairman of the Comite de Salut Public, Daniel Guerin went to the podium again. Guerin is an author and one of the most prominent members of the CGT. He was chosen by a coalition of Travailleur and Anarchiste to be the chairman when the Sorelians didn't manage to achieve majority in the previous election.

“The world economic crisis happened because of the endless greed of the capitalists and the aristocrats. Fellow comrades of the Internationale, Socialism has escape this economic meltdown unscratched. Socialism is indeed, the way forward. Let us move forward together quickly to overtaking the capitalists and feudal nations. The worker's states will flourish with a bright future containing peace and prosperity for the proletariats. Away from the evils of the feudal and capitalist system of murder, theft and abuse. You only earn a small fraction of pay and when you take a loaf of bread from a store to feed your family, you will be sent to prison. But if a capitalist stole money from you, they say it is 'legal'. They hurl words of vulgarity and even threatens you with death and they get away with it, again saying it was 'legal' but if you done the same you will be sent to prison. The White Terror that oppressed the Russian people and the Spanish people and everyone in this world must be put to an end. We must forever abandon this system that only benefited the ruling class.

Fellow comrades of the Internationale, I ask again. Let us achieve the workers paradise together.”

After the congress, the members have taken a tour of France's agriculture, industries, think-tanks and the military. Pointed out by Kaganovich, Bukharin has noted that the military hardware that the French have. Bukharin isn't a military person but he can even tell that they are superior to Russian arms like the aircraft fighter, M.S. 406, faster and better than the Russian biplanes and the tank, FT-17, cleary the T-27 is no match against this.

Russia needs to step up and Bukharin is determined to make that happen.

Finally, it's done. I'm exhausted on making those speeches. Also, I don't know much about hardware. So you might argue about whether FT-17 is better than T-27 or not. In-game techwise, the French are obviously ahead of me not to mention my puny IC (no Stalin's 5 year plan and a fragmented Russia).
