“I cannot believe that it has come to this. That the fate of the civilised world, our war against the Red Scums, rest upon the hands of the Chinamen.”
- Kaiser Wilhelm II.

Kaiser in China

21st of May 1941. Forbidden City, Beijing. 11 days after the invasion of Bulgaria.

“How is the journey from Singapore, Your Highness? I hope the South China Sea was calm over the last few days.” Alexander von Falkenhausen welcomed what used to be the most powerful man in the world. Who, now, only have fragments and islands in his empire scattered all over the globe.

The Kaiser simply responded with a short reply to the person he personally view as a traitor to the Fatherland. After weeks of continuous travel, he is not in the mood to be forgiving to the likes of people like him. The exiled government travelled an enormous distance from Albania, through the Suez, stopped in Ethiopia and Ceylon, and onto Jakarta. With the assistance of the Dutch government, they took the final stretch of the journey to Singapore. Imperial Germany's “invincible” military stronghold in the Far East.

Alexander von Falkenhausen has a long history with China. He first experience the mystic of the Middle Kingdom during the Boxing Rebellion and after being posted on different positions, he found himself in China again during the 1926 German Intervention. After the short conflict, his career in administration started with the establishment of the Allgemeine Ostasiatische Gesellschaft, obtaining the positions of Vice-Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief of the German colonial forces of the Algostasien GmbH.

In 1932, after being successful in his post and the recall of his superior Field Marshall von Seeckt, the Board of Directors unanimously chosen him as the new Governor-General. With the sole control of both administration and the military, von Falkenhausen is the supreme ruler of Algostasien GmbH, for as long as he keeps the shareholders happy.

But in the 7th of April 1938, the Qing empire reclaimed the AOG lands. The Governor-General negotiated with the Chinese that the company would remain in the Middle Kingdom and obtain new rights; such as free access of the market in the north, lower corporate tax for the AOG, and a special contract to produce Qing weaponry. In exchange, the administration of the AOG-held lands. With new business opportunities and benefits and no longer have to expend a lot of resourcse to pacify southern China, the Board of Directors are more than happy to accept the deal.

Alexander Von Falkenhausen is the Management Director of the biggest corporation in the Far East and a military-industrial adviser in the Imperial Court. No wonder the Kaiser has unpleasant opinions on the man.

Alexander von Falkenhausen. The Management Director of the Allgemeine Ostasiatische Gesellschaft and a trusted advisor of the Qing Emperor.

“It seems that His Highness, the Crowned Prince, isn't with your sire?”

“Yes. I prefer if he stays in Singapore, managing what's left of our forces and meeting with our Coalition partners.”

The face of the management director changed for a second but hastily went back again.

“I just hope that the Chinamen would at least beat those Red bugs enough to make them surrender and return the Fatherland to me. Let's make this meeting swift.”

“They are called Chinese and Japanese, Your Highness, and they will but, Your Highness, based on the current position of the Coalition in the war, the Imperial court have demand more claims on-.”

“Done. Anything to win this war.”

von Falkenhausen turned to one of his many servants. “My assistants will guide you and your entourage to your place where you can rest, Majesty, until the evening feast with the emperor.”

The Kaiser's dual tour to China and Japan was to assure that the Chinese and the Japanese, are still committed to the war effort despite the overwhelming success of the Socialist Front in Europe.

--------------------------

A bit slow on the Soviet technological front. The Russian airforce have made new techniques for support planes that are now being taught on their pilots.

soviettech1941may.png

--------------------------

The first step to the liberation of Bulgaria was in Nis, May 10, 1941, where 18 Soviet divisions met 8 Bulgarian divisions. The Soviets, for the first time since the Germans, found an armour formation meeting them in the battlefield but the formation is just made up of light armoured tanks which is no match to the superior built of Soviet tanks made by the hard work of Russia's liberated workers.

battle57.png

The port city of Tulcea was attacked by the Red Army a day later the battle of Nis. The ill-supplied and ill-equipped troops somehow managed to hold against the might of the Bolsheviks. The battle for the port city was a defeat.

battle58.png

In the 18th of May 1941, Constanta was captured by the People's Army. The remnants of the Hungarian Army are now cornered and nowhere to run. The second assault on the port city commenced and later captured.

battle59.png

Two days later, the last of the Hungarian Army was obliterated in Ismail along with the command. The army is effectively destroyed with the surviving members being absorbed into the Bulgarian Army.

battle60.png

By the 20th of May 1941, the dual-kingdom is overtaking, leaving Otto I, exiled in Sofia, an Emperor-King of nothing.

frontline48.png

hungaryannex.png

The elimination of the Bulgarian forces in the Balkans commenced with the attack on Novi Pazar on May 22.

battle61.png

The plans on the liberation of Bulgaria and Greece are now in the works. The provisional Greek government in Antalya is anxious at the development. Kremlin is anxious too. The crave to capture the fleeing Austrian-Hungarian and Bulgarian governments is immense.

I'll try to put another update since I didn't manage to put one last week. So we'll see what happens next to the Coalition.

The Three Emperors

2000 hrs 23rd of May 1941. Bucharest.

“Listen up, comrades!”

“By 0400 hrs tomorrow, that will be the start of the Thracian Offensive. That's when we will cross the River Danube. 6th Armour Division, that's us, will drive to Pleven along with 5th, 9th, and 13th Divisions with supporting infantry from Army Group 19th. We will move straight down until we reach the port city of Kavala. Half way through our drive, we will meet up with another armour column from the east, they will come from Varna. After we reach Kavala, we trap the forces in Constantinople [the Bulgarians changed the name after its capture], making it easier for our comrades across the Bosphorus to flush out the Bulgarians and destroy them.”

Thracian Offensive

The next day, the Soviet forces crossed the Danube river and have already pushed out the small forces in Varna. In Pleven, the Reactionaries continues to hold their ground until the sun set when the order to retreat was called.

22nd of May 1941. Forbidden City, Beijing. 2 days before the invasion of Bulgaria.

“We are pleased when we received the reports that our army have captured Urga [or Ulan Bator], Mongolia is practically ours now.”

“That is great progress.” he replied. All this time, you have only manage to crawl to Ulan Bator while the Red Army is slicing through Hungary with neck-breaking speed? He thought to himself.

Until today, the Germans couldn't believe the ferocity of their enemy. At the start of the war, the Soviet war machine caught Mitteleuropa by surprise. The Russian army that was slow, clumsy, and disorganised, after two decades, turned into an efficient, aggressive, rapid machine that knocked out Lithuania & the Baltic Duchy, and even reached the Vistula River before they could adequately prepare themselves.

The Kaiser then added “We hope that your glorious forces would crush the Bolsheviks. We will make sure that your empire is awarded generously.”

Pu Yi nodded at the Kaiser “We are pleased that China is in great relationship with Germany once again.”

24th of May 1941. 7 o'clock AM train to the German colony of Qingdao currently in Yucheng, Qing.

The 7 o'clock Beijing to Qingdao train was assigned especially for the German court. The Kaiser, obviously, its aides and the court, Imperial bodyguards, etc etc.

“Once we are in Qingdao, we'll take a ship to Tokyo to meet the Japanese Emperor. Hopefully, Your Majesty, the seas are more calm this time so our journey would be easier and quicker.”

“Green tea, sire.” an aide put his tray on the table and prepared the beverages.

The Kaiser was about to touch the cup when a gigantic explosion drummed the ears of every passenger in the train. Followed instantly by vast array of gunfire.

“What on God's name is that!?”

Another explosion rip through the Chinese countryside hitting one of the carriage. This time at the back of the train.

One of the bodyguards went in and announced to the room “Ambush!”

--------------------

23rd of May 1941. Mukden, Fengtien Republic.

“This is ridiculous!” the general was very cautious based on his tone.

“This is the only way to defeat them!”

“I can take over the government myself if it wasn't for the bloody Japanese. Even if you and the emperor help us, we won't last long fighting the two of them!”

“We won't be fighting the bloody Bolsheviks! I promise you that!”

The cautious general was about to say something but he hesitated. The visitor then convinced him further.

“Which emperor do you really want to serve?”

General Zhang Zueling dropped his head and the visitor smiled.

“If you can muster enough force, do it tomorrow.”

-------------------

24th of May 1941. 7 o'clock AM train to the German colony of Qingdao currently in Yucheng, Qing.

Alexei find this entire thing as peculiar. Firing his Papasha to a train filled with Imperial German bodyguards in the middle of China and on his side are German-armed Chinese while the two nations are at war with each other. From this day, he will never regret joining the Red Guards NKGB. He looked at his right, the Chinese fired the 88mm gun again at the carriage and the footsoldiers are either armed with a Kar98 or MP40 all firing at the ambushed forces.

The Red Guards are strategically positioned at the centre-left of the line to get closer to the Kaiser's car as soon as possible, the engine car was destroyed first, making the train a sitting duck. He looked at the Chinese again and his eyes widened, these are not Imperial Qing soldiers.

“AOG troops” he whisper to himself in realisation.

It seems that Von Falkenhausen have kept a chunk of the AOG colonial army as his private army after the annexation of Algostasien GmbH. He zapped back to reality with another carriage exploded by a Russian AT. It took them a while since the train is literally filled with attendants, staff and bodyguards, all providing a serious resistance to protect the emperor. Finally, his commander then shout out the command to advance. The Red Guards left the high ground and swoop down to the immobilised train. The AOG troops followed.

“Grenade!” A Red Guard throw one through the untouched window, breaking it.

“Careful! We need the Kaiser alive. The crowned prince isn't here or any of the Imperial family. So capturing any officials here are secondary priority.”

The other Red Guards and Chinese soldiers from the other side also swoop in and stormed the train. The first two NKGB died as they stormed in but not without blazing their Papasha inside. More NKGB and AOG troops stormed in the Kaiser's car and overpowered the desperate bodyguards, killing them all. Alexei lunged forward and knocked out the Kaiser's pistol, empty it seems, and thrust the Papasha's butt to the Kaiser's face, knocked him out unconscious. Like a game of chess where the king fell which signals the defeat of the army, the remaining entourage raised their hands and surrendered.

Game Over.

-----------------

26th of May 1941. Tokyo, Japan.

“They did what!?”

The military cabinet was astonished at the news. The Emperor, on the other hand, remained silent, pure, and calm, never did moved a single hair.

“The Fengtien Republic was overthrown by a military coup d'etat by the General Zhang Zueling. The rebels have captured the capital along with the government and other strategic points. The defection on the army was massive, sir, and resistance from the loyalists was very light. After the overthrow of the rightful republic, he proclaimed that he is, which I quote, 'at the Emperor's service and Fengtien will, from now on, part of the Empire.'”

“Which emperor?” the Prime Minister Ugaki 'the Shogun' Kasushige asked while making a small glance at the Emperor.

“The Emperor of Qing.”

the generals shook their heads and made remarks on the Manchurians.

“What would be the course of action, Prime Minister?”

“War, of course!” the Shogun barked at the military cabinet “They have committed treason against the Emperor and sided with the enemy after we liberating them decades ago! Make the necessary preparations!”

qingexpand.png

The generals bowed at the Shogun and the council was about to dismiss when someone raised his voice.

“And what about the German Emperor?” asked by an old white-haired general.

One of the generals have replied “We have received messages from Beijing that he was ambushed by the Bolsheviks. We still don't have any information if he was killed or captured. Beijing have ordered a through search of the entire region hoping to capture the Reds. What we do know is that the Germans won't be continuing their diplomatic tour here.”

----------------------

26th of May 1941. Beijing.

“Are you aware that we have recently destroyed two Soviet spy cells here in Beijing?”

“Two of our informants have gone missing, yes. So that confirms it?”

“Yes. Never underestimate the emperor's whisperers. Sooner or later, we will find you and execute you.”

The NKGB simply chuckled “My duty here is to be an ambassador. I, personally, have no plans on spying on Beijing.”

“...yet.”

The Management Director and the NKGB person were both turned as the door opens.

“The operation is a complete success. The group are now on their way to Mongolia.”

Both men smiled at the news.

“And there you have it. The despicable Kaiser Wilhelm II at your hands” Von Falkenhausen opened his arms and hands in triumph.

“In exchange, a very very very generous sum of funds for the Algostasien GmbH and to the Management Director, personally.” he tapped the suitcase. “Enjoy counting.”

“And don't forget to tell Molotov of his promise or there will be no peace between us and also warrants the death of the Red Guards with your beloved Kaiser.” he stretched his arm forward “Mongolia.”

“Of course, comrade.” the NKGB did the same and they shook hands “Mongolia.”

Wow. Didn't see that coming.

@Sumeragi - I guess his allegiance to Pu Yi weights more than his allegiance to the Kaiser.

@Razgriz 2K9 - Let's hope our Red friends can catch the damn Hapsburgs!

@mayorqw - Good idea.

Just a heads-up. There might be no updates this Christmas until the New Year. I'll try to write some when I get the time but I can't guarantee an update.

“The lose of Mongolia is nothing but a small setback. For our mid-term goal is the liberation of the entire Eurasian island. The world's island.”
- Chairman Nikolai Bukharin

------------------------------------------------

The Treaty of Urga

Date Unknown. Urga, Mongolian autonomous oblast, currently under Chinese occupation.

The group disembark from the train. Alexei stretched himself after the long and boring trip back to Soviet soil. The Kaiser remains silent. Nobody's in the mood to talk anyway. From here they will take another train on the other platform to Moscow, more secure this time, and more comfortable. He looked once again at the AOG soldiers. This is their stop. They are Chinese alright but there is something different about them. They wore light blue uniform and cap in contrasts to the yellowish khaki and a German helmet worn by the Imperial army. They are also more skilled than their Imperial counterparts. He turned away and continue with his escort mission. He step on to the other train filled with NKVD Internal troops. He felt relieved that the worst part of the mission was over.

-----------------------

In the 27th of May 1941, peace was found in the Far East, between the Soviets and the Reactionary Japanese and Chinese.

Treaty of Urga was signed and delivery a huge shock from around the globe, from both Socialists and Reactionaries. Pulling different reactions from different nations and individuals. The Treaty of Urga was exceptional. Exceptional for it is the first peace treaty between the two political spectrum that doesn't result in the annihilation of one side.

The Qing was given Mongolia in the peace treaty, fulfilling the emperor's only goal in this war. With the Qing satisfied with their war and the destruction of Germany, their main threat, the emperor ran out of purposes of joining the Grand Coalition and left the alliance. The Middle Kingdom, he claimed, must be put back to its full glory, not fighting a tiresome and pointless war in the frozen lands of Siberia.

The Kremlin made a painful sacrifice. The Treaty of Urga was a peace in the Far East with Mongolia as the payment. The people of Russia will find it difficult to give away a bit of their workers' soil to a feudal and imperial country. Discontent were shown, so the government is trying to appease the people in some way and hope that they could liberate Mongolia again.

The Japanese are now preparing themselves on the 2nd Sino-Japanese War. The Manchurian defection was a total surprise for Tokyo and they are still in the process of allocating and positioning their troops on the new front. The Japanese have continued to their war against the Soviets but Soviet reports were made that the Japanese forces have retreated back to their Siberian holdings. The Soviet soldiers were ordered to defend for they are still outnumbered against the Japanese.

sinojappic.png

Japanese soldiers crossing the Manchurian border

The Germans in Singapore were outrage by Beijing's actions. The abduction of their Kaiser by the Reds, the peace between Moscow and Beijing, the war against the Japanese, and the Qing emperor walking out of the Coalition. China, in their eyes, is a traitor. However, pragmatism was the ruler of the day. The exile government and the soon-to-be Kaiser, agreed that it will be unwise to openly oppose China earlier on, and decides to bid its time until they could choose to the side that will win this war between the two Asian giants. The winner of the alliance will be Germany's ally. Although they are hoping that Japan would win.

The Socialist Front was split on the Treaty of Urga. The Syndicalists opposed Russia's peace with China, arguing that there will be no peace with the Reactionaries. The Soviet Arabs, Turks, Greeks and the Totalist British also signed their signature at the treaty making the division deeper.

sinojapwar3.png

mapasia01.png

The Japanese weren't just busy on their military, but also on diplomacy. They sent diplomats to all the warlords and to the Germans to help them on their war in exchange of getting a share of the pie. Unfortunately for the Japanese, all of them said no, even the theocratic state, whose goal is to unify China, and the Germans, whom have a thousand reasons to fight Qing.

Back in the war, the Thracian Offensive was started with the crossing of the Danube river. The Soviets are advancing into Bulgaria from Constanta and Bucharest.

battle62.png

In the Balkans, an attack was made in Mostar to separate the Balkan pocket into more smaller pockets.

battle63.png

The battle of Sofia was fought in the 1st of June 1941. The already battered and exhausted Bulgarian army desperately hold on to the capital. The Bulgarian and Austria-Hungarian government already fled the city along with the Hapsburg family. NKGB reports have shown that they have fled to Albania. The Soviet high command sweared to the SOVNARKOM that the vile Reactionaries will never escape. Before the battle, the armour forces are on their way to Kavala to completely enclose Constantinople.

battle64.png

Another naval upgrade was made for the Soviet navy. A new class of battlecruiser was available but no production was planned so far. Grand Admiral Kutznetzov have mentioned that the Soviet navy will steer away from battleships and focus more on small and more agile yet still powerful heavy cruisers and battlecruisers.

soviettech1941jun.png

Throughout the war, this front have only experienced, if the reports are accurate, 4 amphibious assaults from the Bulgarians, all ended in failure, and countless of artillery exchanges between the two sides of the Bosphorus strait. It was dubbed as “the most forgotten front” in the war and this front will officially ended with a bang. In the morning of the 2nd of June was the siege of Constantinople with attackers from inland and across the strait. Renamed, officially, as Istanbul by the Ottoman Empire in 1930 and renamed again by the Bulgarians in 1940 back to its original name. The city was a fortress itself giving the enemy a good defensive position. However, this doesn't stop the workers and peasants' army who outnumbered them 2:1 and raised several Red Flags at the top of significant sites such as the Hagia Sophia and the Topkapi palace the next day. The Soviets have achieved what the Reactionary Tsars have failed to get every time they tried, this symbolises that the power of the working people is unstoppable compare to the power of Caesar's heirs.

battle65.png

While the siege of Constantinople is on its end, the Bulgarians can't hold the Soviets any more. The Red Army have surrounded and evaporated two Bulgarian divisions in Vraca. The road to Greece and Albania is only defended by 4 divisions. The Greek provisional government in Izmir have arrived in the “Queen of Cities” and are anxious on the liberation of their homeland.

9th of June 1941. Moscow, RSFSR.

NKVD soldiers rigorously patrols the train station and the surrounding area for the unexpected. Chairman Bukharin and many of the SOVNARKOM stand on the platform as the train from the horizon slowly crawls into the station. After it stopped, a few NKVD troops went out first and guided the old man out of the vehicle. The old man, a special guest, stepped down from the train with the grim face he wore throughout the journey. The host, the chairman, was the opposite, he welcomed the guest with a warm smile in his face and with open arms.

“Welcome to the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, comrade Friedrich! Welcome to the worker's nation!”

Chapter XI: Mitteleuropa's Twilight

“How long have we waited for this? Ah.. since 1919. That was a very long time. A very dangerous one. I still haven't forgotten how they intervene with the Tsarists and squashed us. If it wasn't for them, I believe the revolution would have succeed.”
- former People's Commissariat Mikhail Tukhachevsky regarding Mitteleuropa
------------------------------------------------

Victory in the South

The Soviets did capture of Sofia and Bulgaria proper but that didn't made them lean back and relax. With the bulk of the Bulgarian army in rout from Sofia, the armour took the golden opportunity and rolled immediately into Edessa, trapping the 6 division army in Stip with nowhere to run. The battle end at dusk with many of the Bulgarians surrendered and many ran into the Albanian border as illegal aliens.

battle67.png

In June 11, two battles were fought in the Balkans for a bid to finally end the contest. 2 divisions on Sarajevo and 9 divisions in Dubrovnik, all battered and running out of supplies and ammunition, they put up a weak resistance and surrendered shortly.

The Serbian proletarians greeted the Red Army in the streets of Sarajevo and the port city for its total victory against the Coalition.

battle68.png

battle69.png

The Red Army is now on the outskirts of Athens, many regarded as the cradle of Liberty, ready to reignite the ancient fire among the people of the city.

On the North, Soviet troops surround Albania for the incoming invasion. Tirana refuses to surender the Hapsburgs and their court, and the Bulgarian soldiers who crossed the border. King Wilhelm I, installed by the Germans and puppet of the Ottomans, have nowhere to run, thanks to the British bombers bombarding the ships in the port of Tirana.

frontline49-1.png

What an insult to the workers, farmers, and soldiers of the world! The little kingdom of Albania stand against the Socialist Front and paints a blue Reactionary dot on a sea of Red. Albania will now suffer the wrath of the Proletariat. Sovnarkom declared war on Tirana and their king. The Red Army now poured over the borders to purge the reactionaries.

albaniawar.png

frontline50.png

The Albanians were pushed back easily but the Bulgarians holds on longer and tries to stop the inevitable.

battle70.png

By the 20th of June 1941, Albania is annexed. The Austrian Emperor-King and the other Hapsburgs were captured. The coalition governments (Bulgaria, Albania, Hungary, and Austrian.) were also captured. All were sent to Moscow for trial. The Kaiser's trial was postpone to accommodate this, making the upcoming trial a once in a lifetime event.

--------------------------

New breakthrough for the navy again as the commissariats have developed new long range submarines based on the submarine blueprints given by the British. The PeoCom of Armaments have proudly announced that Soviet Russia's submarines are now up to modern standards. The Sovnarkom now orders the production.

A new improvements for the air force from its thinktanks by having bomber crew veterans leading green crews to quickly pass on the knowledge and make them more experience faster and, finally, the PeoCom of Armaments finalised the new standard equipments for the Red Guards.

soviettech1941jun2.png

----------------------------

The remaining Bulgarian resistance is a non-issue with the liberation of Athens and the Peloponnese peninsula, encountering only scattered and non-threatening pockets. The Bulgarian navy was battered by the Socialists air force, sinking the battleship and the two cruisers.

airbattle06.png

The Cyclades is now the only remaining resistance from the Bulgarians, even if they are “headless” they still continue to resist but no more. In July 9, the audacious Red Guards air dropped on the Cyclades and wiped out the enemy. Victory in South East Europe is now complete.

In Denmark, a huge amount of Soviet soldiers are gathering on the island of Zealand. The preparation for the liberation of Scandinavia is nearly complete. Soon, they will cross the Sound.

oresund.png

While the Bolsheviks are preparing in Denmark, the trial of the Mitteleuropa leaders are about to start in Moscow and, somewhere in Berlin, the diplomats of the victors are gathering for the redrawing of the map of Europe... and the future.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

A gameplay update. I decided to just separate them. Next update (New Age Europa) would be narrative(?) of the trial and the reshaping of Europe minus Scandinavia + Finland (we'll deal with them later).

I also decide to make this a semi-WC (WC with puppets + allies). It's been a while since I've seen a world revolution. Usually, AARs stop when they reached the Americas. A global USSR? CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!

EDIT: I just noticed that this AAR is running for more than a year. This is kind of awesome that it's still alive but I guess it dragged on because of the writer took so long to update and a one long hiatus.
