“The blocks are now arranged”
-Nikolai Bukharin

“We just got lucky. That's all.”
-Ivan Proskurov, head of Cheka.

“Damn that Wrangel! He was born out of his mother's fanny half way done! How dare he! How dare he do this!”
-Felix Yusupov, one of the most prominent noblemen present in the committee

The Great Committee

“We have to rebuild our armed forces!” That was Denikin, the Supreme Field Marshall of the Russian Army. All the three branches answers to him. “The Germans could just make one stomp and our armies will collapse like dominos!”

It was the 14th of January in Moscow. It was a big day. The papers coined it as 'The Great Committee'. It has been ten days since Kerensky's assassination and the take-over. Ten days the already weaken nation was grind into a halt. Not to mention, it was Strumer's death yesterday and the country is still in mourning for his loss. Russia is still sick. Something must be done to push the nation forward.

“Mister Denikin, we are in good terms with the Germans. That's impossible since it's in their interest too to keep up the relationship between the two countries.” Brassov, the foreign minister, objects at the Supreme Field Marshall. “Of course, they don't want to have another two front war just like before.”

Denikin didn't gave up “And what about Japan? I'm sure they don't mind taking away the only major port that we have remaining in the Pacific.” he then turned to the chief of the navy and the air force. Both nodded in agreement to Denikin's reason. Memories are still fresh. The lost of Vladivostok to the Japanese was a slap in the face.

Wrangel then finished the argument “I think Yezhov is right, gentlemen. We should put the country's stability on track before we rebuild the armed force. Yes I understand your point, Supreme Field Marshall, but this is top priority. The reason why Russia lost in the great war in the first place is because of those Reds ruining the stability.”

“The Great Committee of 1936”

The committee made their decision on the problem. The rebuilding and modernisation of the armed force has been delayed and won't start until March of next year, at least.

“Now, onto the next agenda” Wrangel took a sip

Back in Opochka, 2 days ago

Bukharin puts his glass down. He stared at Proskurov as he received the folder from his aide. “Comrades, you should take a look at this.” he and Vyshinsky took a copy. “This came from a very reliable source. I'm sure there is no mistake in this piece.” Proskurov assures them.

He said it in his thoughts. “Agent TARTAR. Hah! Him again. Let's see what we got this time. Hmmm... Wrangel's inner circle has already formulated a plan for a 'New Russia'... ...extending the power by reform the bureaucracy from scratch... ...pruning of the armed force by liquidation of Denikin and other potentially dangerous 'Old Guards' which begins in... …and the elimination of clergies and the nobles not loyal to the faction. Czar's butt! So much for being a hero.”

“The committee has decided regarding the expansion of the industry. This question is now closed” boringly said by Wrangel “Now onto to the next one”

“What the- rejection of the patriarch's plea as the head of government and the reopening of both the Duma and the Senate...” Bukharin read on.

Insulted, the Patriarch, leader of the Conservative Party and head of the Russian Orthodox Church, shouted at the dictator. “Excuse me, Mister Wrangel-” “Field Marshall.” he corrected the old man. “-Field Marshall Wrangel. What do you have in mind when you said the conservative party will not lead this country? I don't know if you already aware of this but we have the undisputed majority!”

Suddenly, Bukharin was shocked after reading a part of the report. He read it again just to make sure.

“The inner circle's decision was the rejection of the Romanov family's reinstallment as their monarch. Their arrest and execution was already planned. This will be the final step in the establishment of the 'New Russia'”

“This will be interesting.” Both Vyshinsky and Bukharin smiling “Comrade Proskurov, you and your agent deserves a bloody medal for such an excellent job.” the head of Cheka humbly replied to the compliment “Many thanks, comrades. Good thing he got hold of this a few days after he got in the inner circle. We just got lucky, that's all.”

He wasn't kidding. Contrary to the junta's speculation, the hierarchy wasn't really contaminated. Cheka only has one agent inside the Wrangelists. One. Boris Semyonov codenamed TARTAR, was one of the officers who joined Wrangel's newly created faction during the Kerensky administration until he “saw the light” of Socialism and swore allegiance to the Bolsheviks. He later rises into the 'inner circle' just in time before the take-over, giving Bukharin and the rest the opportunity to avoid Wrangel's Red purge. He later received the highest award, Hero of the Soviet Russia, posthumous.

“The Senate and the Duma will never be reopened?” everyone gasped and whispers except for the ones who already knew it like Nikolai Yezhov, head of Okhrana. A closed Duma, they can take that but a closed Senate? The confusion goes on until one soul raised his voice and asked “So, does that mean you're returning the Czar to the throne?”

“Yes, I am.”

The feedback among the crowd was positive this time, even the Patriarch was pleased. Finally, the return of the emperor to save the fledging nation. Of course, their self-interests made them still uneasy at the thought of an absolute Czar where no power will be given to them. Still the candidates were now running on their heads. There were two. The favourite, The Grand Duke Dmitri Romanov, first comes to mind and the other one was Kyril Romanov.

“So who will it be?”

“The person who would be crowned as the Czar will be decided on a latter meeting. But I have a feeling that it would be, His Royal Highness, The Grand Duke.” he cheerfully said to the committee.

“LIAR!”

Everybody looked at that person who has the courage to say that word to Wrangel. Standing on the south-west part of the room was an officer. A captain to be exact. It was Boris Semyonov.

“Boris! What are you doing?” whispered by the officer sitting next to him.

“He is a liar! He has no intention on bringing the Romanovs back”

The room once again was filled by awe and whispers then Denikin rises from his chair “Captain Semyonov, are you out of your mind!?”

“No. Once he is done with this shit you call committee, he will kill you!” he points at Denikin later then turn to the Patriarch “and you too, Your Holiness! And everyone who is not loyal towards him or try to oppose him! He won't stop until he sealed himself as the new emperor of Russia!”

Both the Supreme Field Marshall and His Holiness turned to Wrangel with terror on their faces. Wrangel was filled with anger. He then turned to Yezhov and nodded at the Okhrana chief. Yezhov then barked an order which can be heard loudly throughout the room. In a moment, the room suddenly filled with armed soldiers. Everyone was horrified at the sight that's being developed. Some tried to get away but stopped when the bayonets begin to point at them. Even the officers were helpless. You can't really blame them, why would you even bring a mere hand gun in this time and place?

The surprises just keeps adding up. A convoy went into the room and in the middle, a soldier was carrying something familiar. The people were filled with awe again as the Great Imperial Crown was actually brought in here. Semyonov was right!

imperialcrown.jpg

The Imperial Crown dated back to Catherine the Great's reign.

A Patriarch suddenly chucked “Wrangel, do you seriously think I would crown your pathetic arse?”

“I would actually ask first just to be sure but since your tone sounds like a 'no' then you have no use to me!” he then signals the soldiers who then fires at the priest. The poor Patriarch now lies on the ground bloody. “Don't worry. I have another priest who can do the job!”

The Metropolitan Bishop of Moscow went into the room with his escorts. The soldier gave the crown to the Metropolitan. Which then walked towards Wrangel offering him the crown. Wrangel took it from his and put it gently on his head and sits while His Eminence invokes the Holy Trinity “The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. Amen.”

“With the power given to me by the Lord Jesus Christ. I now proclaim you, Czar Pyotr IV, God-crowned, God-given, God-adorned, Most God-fearing, Most pious Autocrat, absolute and great Sovereign, Emperor of All Russias. Long Live the Czar!”

All the soldiers cheered at the new Caesar while the committee trembles at the horror in front of them.

Wrangel stood up and pointed at Semyonov “Kill that bloody maggot!”. One soldier took a shot but Semyonov dodged it, the bullet landed on the person behind him. Almost everyone on the room dived into the floor. He then attacked the nearest soldier. “For the motherland!" The conscript was no match against this seasoned veteran. A quick struggle and he was stabbed by his own bayonet. The captain then fired the Mosin-Nagant at another soldier, reloads and took an aim at the emperor. Unfortunately for him, he was shot at the right thigh ruining his balanced and missed his final shot. He was shot again, multiple times and rushed by several soldiers who stabbed him with their bayonets.

The world turned slowly as the renegade captain fell on the floor. Everything gets blurry and a light shines through. He looked unto the light and saw his life flash before his eyes. A smile appeared on his face.

It was the 14th of January 1936 that Boris Semyonov gave his last breath.

--------------------------------------

The Great Committee was finally over. With one astounding results, a new Czar with a strict order that the fruits of the committee will be a state secret until Wrangel will be crowned officially in the Kremlin. As they all disperse in that late afternoon, little do they know that most of Russia already knows what the government have in store for them. Bukharin's headline on today's Pravda send shockwave throughout the country for the next several days that not just Socialist underground papers who wanted the 'insider information' given by TARTAR but also mainstream papers and all radio stations wants a piece of the action as well. The piece is just too great and controversial to be ignored.

Awesome song! Awesome aar! Awesome mod!

That really was a stupid move. Wrangel's managed to single-handedly alienate every single person of importance who's not part of his little clique, I can't see him lasting long when the revolution comes.

A revolution or Coup needs time to become stable. I agree that this is too much, too soon.

@guy_montag, Patukov, Viden, Davisx3m - Thank you!

@Battle bunny, soulking, - the workers will rise! we will not compromise :D

@TemplarCommander, Zhung Liang - I was suppose to mention this, I guess I just forgot to insert it in but it was planned to consolidate the position first but they start the reforms. The Cheka agent made things go earlier as planned.

@Morlak, yourworstnightm - almost half of the population hates him according to the in-game dissent.

Update is 1/3 done.

“Soldiers of Russia, please listen! Please! He has turn his back on you! He will not bring the Czar back, instead he put his stinking arse on the throne of Caesar and start calling himself the new Czar. What sacrilege! And not just that, he insulted and killed on the Patriarch! The leader of our Holy Church! Totally unacceptable! Soldiers of Russia, please hear me! Rise up against Wrangel! Rise!”

“The gears of capitalism are now rusted and the whole machinery collapsed and destroyed. At it's wake, millions of millions of people will suffer thanks to the bloody endless greed of the capitalists and the aristocrats. This monday. This Black Monday.”
The Internationale's statement regarding to the Berlin stock market crash on the 4th of February 1936.

“There is no such thing as 'Red Guards'. There is such thing as 'Red Guards'. You can say both since both are true.”

The invisible country

The spy news is now the talk of the town, or should we say, talk of the whole country. Even if the spy news was banned on the media later, the damage was already been done as discontent went higher than before. Measures were taken to burn down more of the dissent but the lack of funds in the budget disallows this.

Because of Bukharin's spy news and Colonel Semyonov's little stunt at the committee, things are now going earlier than planned now that their cover is blown. Wrangel is now crowned in the Kremlin. Legislations are now being passed, rapidly reforming the bureaucracy.

russiaextendingpower.png

The armed forces were also hit by the reforms. Many who were hit by the wave were Robert von Wiren, head of the navy and Yevgennji Smushkevich, head of the airforce. Surprisingly, Denikin wasn't part of the reform. Was it an inaccuracy in the agent report or maybe Wrangel just changed his mind? Regardless, Denikin and the other remaining higher-ups were wary of Wrangel and the unknown members of his inner circle. The government is now too preoccupied, or perhaps unable, to see the growing power of the Bolsheviks.

-----------------

Pskov, 5th of February 1936

A train of vehicles stopped at a checkpoint as they approach the city of Pskov, three men went out to meet the guards “Comrades, how are things?” one of them greeted and hand over their papers. The guard nodded in approval “Welcome to Pskov!”, the obstacle was removed and allowed the convoy to continue on their trip. That's a change. Usually when you say 'comrade' to a soldier, you'll end up in prison.

For the last three weeks, Bolshevik support increased dramatically. Volunteers are now swelling the ranks of the currently invisible Red Guards. Proskurov and the Cheka are now getting busier with their officers and agents browsing the Russian forces for sympathisers and they are now hunting Okhrana members instead of the other way around to stop vital information about the invisible country going into Moscow. Weapons piles up massively thanks to the contribution of the renegade officers and soldiers which came from the imperial arsenals. The demand for Pravda increased tremendously even if it is illegal to buy one.

Pskov and Opochka are now under the Red banner except in name. It's soldier and garrison stationed there are now Bolsheviks wearing Czarist uniforms. As time goes by, the Red influence has spread up to Novgorod and St. Petersburg in the north and down to Vitebsk and Smolensk in the South. The air corps “St. Petersburg Fighters” are now under theirs too, enough to match the remaining air force and control the skies of Russia.

A lot of soldiers defected to the Bolsheviks. The others who weren't swayed were taken care of by their former comrades.

Tukhachevsky was worried “We must not fail on this one! I got lucky back there. I don't think this will happen the second time.” He thought to himself.

Field Marshall Mikhail Tukhachevsky was one of the generals of the Red Army during the civil war. After the defeat at Tsaritsyn*, his army retreated to Moscow and made a last stand until the siege of Moscow ended in September 1921. He surrendered, received a quick trial and awaits execution. Fate, however, was kind to him as the Red Guards busted him out of the prison a day before his execution. He is now the Marshall of the Soviet Russia, overall commander of all Soviet forces.

Tukhachevsky2.jpg

Tukhachevsky during the 1st Russian Civil War

He looked outside when the convoy stopped at its destination. Crates were being unloaded. “We will not fail this time”. The door opened. “Good morning, comrade. How's the journey?”

The armaments minister, Lazer Kaganovich, replied “It was shit. But the haul that we got was good. Our biggest steal since 8 days ago.”

“Where are the others?”

He heard chattering and footsteps outside the room. He turned as the door opened, two figures came in “...the Sorelians emerged as the largest faction but, unfortunately, didn't manage to secure a majority. They could have been a valuable ally to us within the Internationale.” That was Litvinov, the foreign minister, talking to Bukharin. Bukharin then nodded and looked at the other two. “Comrade Tukhachevsky, comrade Kaganovich, good to see you!” they shook hands “I called all of you today because we got an uneasy news.”

They all took a seat with a table in the middle of them. “Despite of their best efforts, Proskurov just reported to me that Moscow is starting to gain attention to us recently. At first, they thought it was just a widespread dissidence but they are starting to realised that we are preparing for war. Skirmishes have already happened a few times. It's only a matter of time before they assemble their armies and send them here.”

Kaganovich replied “That is not a problem, comrade. We have stockpiled enough supplies to last for 7 months, at least.”

the Marshall joins in “There is no problem with me either, comrade Bukharin. I believe we have enough soldiers. We should attack now before they get prepared for us. Although...”

“What?”

“It'll be disastrous if foreign powers went against us. Especially Finland or Germany”

“Don't worry, comrade. That'll be Litvinov's job. So what's your plan?”

Velikiye Luki, dawn, 7th of February 1936.

A huge mass of Red Guards are stationed here with its intended target will be Moscow. It's location is not very close but neither very far. Pavel just noticed another few vehicles unloading the men out. He was unsurprised as this keeps happening every time. Day and night. There's a build up of men here. In fact, he came here the same manner. He's not complaining being sent here. At least, he can rest after all those skirmishes against the local police and the military.

redguardresized.png

The Red Guards are the paramilitary force of the underground Soviets. They are not to be underestimated as many of their units can fight equally against regular soldiers.

He was about to take a small snooze at this cold dawn when a comrade of his approach him and tries to wake him up.

“The stars are crying, fellow comrade”

Pavel heard it loud and clear. He was nervous “When?”

“Now”

*Tsaritsyn is Volgograd today, in case you're wondering.

The old regime must die! :D

The upcoming civil war should be nice and chaotic, besides Wrangel and the Bolsheviks there are a lot of groups who can't stand Wrangel but at the same time would never join the Bolsheviks.

The old regime is a crumbling edifice of corruption, opression and delusion. All true Russians, all true citizens of the earth know that it cannot survive. Rise up proletarians of the earth! Bring down the old society so we may build anew.

Bring down the Wrangelite Neo-Tsarists! For the people!
