    Compatible with Europa Universalis III: Divine Wind 5.1 Patch (Official patch of 22nd July 2011) and 5.2 beta

    Installation instructions
    - Download DAOv1.2.rar.
    - Delete old "dao" folder and "dao.mod" file.
    - Extract DAOv1.2.rar in your mod folder.
    - Select DAO v1.2 in the launcher to play.

    Fix1: http://www.mediafire.com/?r7pr51wwv5xpw51 (Unrar it into ...\mod\dao\map folder.)

    Overview:

    Devlet-i Ali Osman was appeared as map mod because of distorsion of vanilla map. Then I decided to give some balance to make Muslim countries playable and realistic. There are hands off tests for DAO in here. Also there is Post Your DAO Empires thread in here.

    Submods, DAO Lite and DAO Alternate, are in the third post.

    This map project tries to make borders of Europe, North Africa and Middle East more historical. Physical maps (rivers and terrain) were taken from Victoria 2. Then I draw political borders. To compare DAO map with vanilla map in 1399, I made three province maps. I guess, most of the people begins game at 1399. Lets looking at these maps:

    Installation instructions to the old versions (from v0.40 to v0.46)
    
    - Download DAOv0.46.rar.
    - Make a new copy of your main Eu3 game folder.
    - Extract DAOv0.46.rar in your newly created Eu3 game folder.
    - Delete everything in your newly created Eu3 game folder\map\cache.
    - Launch the game
    
    * If you have older version of DAO, you can overwrite it. Then clear the cache and launch the game.
    (The only exception is DAOv0.44, because of the InExtenso. If you have this version of DAO, you need fresh copy of your main game folder.)

    What is DAO: Alternate?
    DAO: Alternate is an alternate history version of Devlet-i Ali Osman mod. The year is 1399 and political borders and countries are from 2010. Each province has at least 1000 population and Level1 Fort. There is no tribal or nomad governments. Tech percentages are very close to each other; minimum %91 (African) to maximum %100 (Western). There are many new COTs. Also, because of an event that reveals all over the world, I strongly advice you to set message settings for newly discovered provinces and seas to do not popup, if you do not want to face almost 2000 popup messages!

    I absolutely love this.

    Personally, I prefer map mods that don't add new provinces, so I absolutely love this one. I know you'll probably add more later, but I hope that will be as late in the process as possible, so as to allow people like me to enjoy as much as of it as possible.

    If you agree to add or remove provinces, I'll be tempted to give you a new template for France
    (not necessary very different from the precedent, but I think that Bresse for example is important while some provinces seem futile).

    A question for Malatesta : I know that Iberian monarchies where a lot more centralised than France or the Empire in the very late medieval era but, is it a just depiction that, unlike France, no feudal countries tags exists inside Iberian kingdoms ?

    EDIT : I think that Pyrenees mountains could deserve to have a wasteland that limit armies movements between France and Spains at the pass. I'm not really sure as I don't really know Pyrenean geography but movements could be limited to two points, perhaps :
    1. Roussilon <-> Girona
    2. Navarra <-> Labourd <-> Viscaya

    Well, he's already doing that (see the single province Iceland with the "new" Feroe), so as long as the province count doesn't change, I think he's all up for it.

    Well, given that they reconquered most of their territories not a long time before the starting date, I'd say beside Galicia, the basques, Léon and maybe Asturias, not much, no.
    But I'm not a specialist, by far.

    we can consider Spain, in the early modern age, a centralized monarchy, a federation of kingdoms also. Each kingdom had its own laws ("fueros", old feudal privileges). The kingdom of Spain is centralized, like France, with the Bourbon dynasty (s. XVIII)

    I've a question: Do you have any interest in expanding upon the regions? The Middle East is particularly lacking in that regard.
    I have two options for adding new provinces.

    First, to keep balance of the game, I will add provinces with same ratio for all areas. For example, if France has 100, Germany has 120 and Italy 50 has provinces, I will add 10 provinces for France, 12 provinces for Germany and 5 provinces for Italy...etc

    Second, I will add provinces to only necessary areas. For example, IMHO whole Balkan Peninsula, Egypt and Mesopotamia needs many new provinces. Also Anatolia, North Africa, Persia, Silesia, Bohemia need provinces. And certainly, your new province suggestions for any area would be beneficial. (There will not be any additional manpower or tax values for new provinces in total.)
