This is so true, as a human player you never seem to be able to form alliances which i find very frustrating, unless you have a bucnh of vassals that you can shamelessly ally

I've noticed this too. Once I got Scotland to ally with me, but in the current game, with two of their provices ceded to Denmark, they won't ally with me. And as England I could really help them out.

It takes a huge diplomacy score to get a nation to ally with a rival or nation it has a mission against.
