The fog in DW seems to be disliked by many, and also seems pretty slow.
Hence, I decided to change the fog shader. Put one of the following files in the "data/gfx/fx" folder, but be sure to backup "terraincognita.fx" first.

By the way, just wondering, do you notice a speed difference between vanilla and these shaders ( particularly the ugly one ) ?

Wraitii, as an FYI, they both lead to CTD at gamestart at the "Loading Graphics" screen.
I'm guessing it has something to do with Mac OSX folder that is created when I extract the files....
Edit: tested under windows with WMware, and it appears that there is a "last edited by wraitii" at the end for some reason... I must have failed when copy/pasting, and didn't notice that.
These files normally should work, and I updated the first post.
Innocent Beard, if you try again, could you post a screenshot of the "good looking" one?

nope sorry, the good one shows black FoW with hard edges. Maybe this is my computers fault? I mean it seemed to work in the other screen shoots.

the fast one is the same, though with softer borders (strange). It isn't easy.

Good Version - Shows opaque black.
Bad Version - Shows transparent black.
I don't understand what can cause this, so I'll just go back to the scripts that worked.

While it didn't increase my game speed at all, your fix did fix the fog that I hated, so thank you so much!

can you please give more in-depth instructions on installing it correctly?

This step by step should work:
1-Rename one of the files ( the good looks nicer ) to "terraincognita.fx"
2-Go to "YourEU3Folder"/Date/gfx/fx/
3-Backup the original "terraincognita.fx"
4-copy the new file there
5- Run EU3
If it doesn't work, ask again and I'll see what I can do.

OK, finally got DW myself, so I did a bit more stuffs.
Here's a new shader, rather nice looking, replaced the "gray" fog with a dark blue one, better looking. I also added the FOW to the "far" view, since I think it's quite practical.
