There are many people who have complained on the forums that using Heian-era families for Japan is silly and anachronistic. I take the other view. I think it's not silly or anachronistic enough!

Therefore (well, that and because I'm a bit of a fanboy) I have decided to replace the four Heian families with the four Japanese pokemon regions. Isshu/Unova is not yet included, as it's on the other side of the world and I don't know what tech group to put 'em in, and the games aren't even out yet outside Japan.

Pfeh. What a half-hearted effort. Splitting things in four regions - there are 32 gyms! How can you reduce them to four "regions" that don't even fit the borders you're using? It's ridiculous!



By the way, I still think it should have been one of the starters for Kanto and Lugia or Ho-Oh for Johto, just saying :-p

Actually that might be funny... add some extra provinces based off of the Pokemon world... I'd find that very interesting (he says as he plays Pokémon White).

I was planning on using digimon for the chinese factions - virus/data/vaccine. But then I realized I don't know how to edit graphics, I don't remember which to use, and the old graphics would look very silly. Isshu makes most sense in New York, because that's where it is, but North America is honestly kind of dull in vanilla and very distant from Japan in any case.
