Vae victis!
Peace is a precious and a desirable thing. Our generation, bloodied in wars, certainly deserves peace. But peace, like almost all things of this world, has its price, a high but a measurable one. We in Poland do not know the concept of peace at any price. There is only one thing in the lives of men, nations and countries that is without price. That thing is honor - Józef Beck, Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs (5.5.1939)

I'm having an insufferably slow game. I'm on the lowest resolution I can manage (1024 x 768), 60Hz, 0 multisample, no trees, no decorative items, no advanced water. Game is approx half the speed I'm used to from HttT. Oh, and achievements off. Any ideas?

Okay the map is very beautiful but.... WHY ARE THE HIMALAYAS STILL IN THE WRONG SPOT! I thought having a victoria style map would finally fix the issue, but only the coastlines were made pretty
Heres the area in game
Heres in real life

two VERY different environments, I'm not quite sure why this hasent been fixed since EUIII 1.0
Otherwise I'm loving the new mechanics of DW. The only problems I'm seeing is too much ping ponging with rebels and for some reason, the AI can take my provinces way to fast in sieges, it takes them only a few months to successfully capture a province with 1000 infantry
There is a strange behaviour I wanted to ask about: more often than not, enemy units in a war are faster than mine (even comparing same stacks types -inf, inf+cav-) even when my general has better maneouver or they lack a general whilst I have one.
This leads to the annoying feature of your killing stack moving and the cursor saying 'arriving 5 december' while after a while, the enemy small stack moves just in time to leave the spot 'on 4 december', just one day before its ultimate and well-deserved doom, and repeating it as long as they are not cornered or decide to stop.
A honest question: is this a cheat to favour AI? Because if it is, I ask anyone knowing how to disable it, it's incredibly annoying, frustrating, and useless as the AI ends losing anyway, just in a more boring time.

It takes a different amount of time to move between different provinces, so your move from A to B could realistically take quite a bit longer than your enemy's from B to C. I'm pretty sure this is how it's always worked, and is completely WAD; it's just that the AI has never taken advantage of it before.

I hate to be negative, but while I've played EU III for probably hundreds of hours, so far I can't stand playing Divine Wind and stopped after maybe an hour. Maybe it'll grow on me or maybe there's a way to get around some of what is annoying me. Anyway...
The new map drives me insane. I don't like that terrain is applied to the map when zoomed in close enough to see individual provinces; this particularly annoys me in political mode. I find the new map feels very busy and cluttered and more or less gives me a headache looking at it. It isn't bad when zoomed out to where province borders aren't drawn, but I can't play like that.
I'd prefer to either have the option to toggle terrain on/off in various map modes, or else only see it in terrain mode.
Also, while the new fog of war is cool, I have to wonder if it is that or something else that makes the game slow to a crawl (relative to pre-Divine Wind) when at province level. It's as if the speed were dropped from 5 to 2 or 3 or something. I don't think it's my computer; I have a clean new install of Windows running on a fairly strong system.
I honestly haven't played long enough to judge the game on much else. I do like the anti-popup system, at least in theory; I'll have to see how it works someday in practice. On the topic of notifications though, it occurred to me when looking at that feature that it might be nice to be able to choose settings for notifications based on individual countries or regions; e.g. Brittany isn't generally going to be too worried about what the Golden Horde is doing, so they might prefer to not be notified. Brittany might not care about that whole region, actually, so why not let them not be notified of anything in that region, actually?
Oh, and I still hate rebels. My king dies sitting at home, probably peacefully in his sleep, and a pretender army the size of my max forcelimit pops out from nowhere (or technically, Finistere)... what can I do about that? Ah well.
Anyhow, I don't think I'll be playing Divine Wind until something is done about the map, unfortunately. I look forward to playing it though if/when that occurs, as EU 3 and its expansions have been great other than this.
Maybe Paradox want's something to simulate the 30 years war.

Playing as Teutonic Order, I'm getting a lot of missions to defend against x country so I have to have more troops than them to complete the mission. I just got a mission to "defend against Austria". Now Austria is the HRE and has 46000 men. I have 17000 men at the moment, a yearly surplus of only 30 ducats and a forcelimit of 22 units. Seriously?

The cascading alliance system simulates a lot of the major wars in Europe during the period, especially with how nations can rejoin the war after the truce is up.
However, I'm not sure it makes as much sense outside Europe.

Who cares? That's even less relevant than Ireland touching Scotland, and getting upset about it doesn't help.
I believe the gents over in Victoria 2 quite quickly got rid of terrain in the political map; the mod could probably be ported to DW and if not I'm sure someone would be able to make a similar mod quite quickly. The only problem is that this, for some reason, will disable the achievements system.
I agree completely, I think the HYW will be a lot more fun with it.

The map is so pretty. So very pretty. My precious.
