My first attempt at a New World nation. May I say, I'm terrified of what Europe did to the world:
ftx1Q.png

I've managed to make it to 1592 without Westernising (not by choice, can't get a 6 admin leader), and only lost 3 provinces (2 colonies in the south to Portugal, and uncored city in the north to Portugal, and a cored enclave to Spain in Ecuador). Goal is to last long enough to westernise, force the release of as many native and colonial states as possible, and convert to a V2 game.

This image is slightly outdated, after taking it I annexed Province and what is left of Granada (they controlled all the provinces that border Castile in eastern Iberia), as well as diplo-annexing Toulouse.

My second game of EU III after my first as Brittany failed horribly. Playing as England.

I'm stupidly proud of my nation even though it's not much right now. I managed to inherit Naples through a royal marriage. Even though I really didn't do anything to accomplish that beyond offering a royal marriage, I still feel like I accomplished something. I did check out which nations had problems with succession and tried to marry into the one that had the least legitimacy (Naples).

I don't know what to do about Scotland. I have a royal marriage and good relations with them, they have a couple of allies. And stupid Portugal, which is supposed to be my ally, has intervened in war with Scotland before (on Scotland's side). I might just let them exist peacefully on the island with me.

Lol I just went through my old computer's EU3 fraps screenshot folder and I found some doosies XD

Kill the Scots. It allows you to form Great Britain. Much more awesome than being just England.
Naples gives you a good chance to expand on the Med. Use the Holy War casus belli which runs out in mid 17th to whack some Muslims.

And remember to go to America!

Italy, 1614

The years is 1614. I started as Milan. Spent the first good hundred years of the game vying for Holy Roman Emperor (for the prestige to expand my SoI) and annexing my neighbors (peacefully!). Contrary to my previous games, where I tried to quickly gain a universal cassus belli and subsequently went on a conquering rampage to fulfill my imperial goals, I tried instead in this game to acquire what I wanted diplomatically. I inherited Alencon accidentally in a huge mess of royal marriages, and then sold it to France for a massive sum of money. Almost inherited Navarra, but after I claimed the throne Austria said "OH GOD NO" and took over instead through a brief little war. I used my sphere of influence to convince Serbia, Albania, Croatia, Sardinia, Corsica, Savoy, Modena, Genoa, Mantua, and Urbino that independence outside of Italy isn't all it's cracked up to be.

This is a map with all of the regions I gained militarily outlined in orange. As you can see, most of my provinces were gained without bloodshed.

The Papal State was the first to go, within the first two years of the Grand Campaign. They decided it would be wise to attack Urbino (they usually do) so I allied with the Urbanites (?) before even one day into the game. Naples then got into a war with England, risking the sovereignty of my future nation. Refusing my hospitality, they were brought under Milanese rule more forcefully. England, at this time, controlled Sicily and Malta. I had two wars and a long naval race before I finally was able to crack open Britain (with Scottish help) and deliver my demands directly to the royals in London.

Savoy got stomped in a war with France, releasing many states (which I vassalized soon afterwards, notably Corsica and Sardinia) and they were left weaker than Milan. I quickly jumped on our friendly relations and their humiliation to vassalize and annex them a decade later. Once I finished annexing everything, I had accomplished my goal for the game, and finally unified Italy, bringing my capital to Rome and outside of the HRE, ending my term as emperor. I switched over to Protestant, to sting Austria (the new emperor, although they would later follow suit) and it resulted in an odd turn of events that led to my amazingly productive and fruitful alliance with the shockingly fractured France. (is it just me, or is France ALWAYS at war with somebody?)

Built up a colonial empire rather quickly by annexing native tribal states while Spain (their ally) was busy in a war against Austria (Navarra... hurr). Recently switched from Empire to Noble Republic, soon to be Administrative Republic. Royal marriages have run out of their uses, and I want to pick my leader. I may go for presidential dictatorship. Can't remember why, but that government form was always my favourite.

I don't really know what to do next, as my only goal for this game has been realized. After I am done converting everybody on the peninsula to protestant, and removing the minor cores, there really will be nothing left to do. I wish I could "suggest" things for my allies to do, as I really want a powerful, united France to have my back against the big meanies to my east and north (Austria+Bohemia HRE tag-team). For some reason this game's French just don't want to unite their nation.

My current Naples game:

EU3_56.jpg

I am only missing Lombardia for Italy. My possessions include most of the caribbean islands and southwest Africa from Kongo to cape. I just conquered cylon as part of my mission to expand into India.

Since I am not part of the HRE I removed the Italian provinces because the Empire did not wish for me to join. I managed to vassalize and crab northern Italy while Austria and Bohemia pounded on each other(they are alternatining as Emperors). I allied Sweden and Portugal at the beginning and helped the former form Scandinavia while the later is now in a PU with me. I also lead a PU with Saxe-Lauenburg since 150 years and have led PUs with Yaroslavl, Tyrone and Wallachia which all resolved later but since they were not worth anything I just dissolved the alliances afterwards.

Genoa and Sardinia are my vassals. I am also allied with Brabant and am responsible for Byzantine restoration. Golden Horde is still around. I am the major naval power but I am extremely weak at land forces. Castile recently got the mission restore the Holy See, Aragon hates me with passion and Vanezia is a backstabbing **** guaranteed by everyone and their dog. Austria sort of likes me for some reason but they will cease to be emperor soon and Bohemia which hates me will become it again. Best would be Brabant become HRE but no one likes the dutch.

This is a 5.2 beta game.

Third part of my Palatinate game. I just cut Bohemia down to size, and all of Germany is in my grasp except for Oldenburg, Bremen, Münster and Lübeck (not sure how I will squash the Hansa, they have overseas provinces in Finland and in Africa. I have no navy at all...), Sundgau and Elsass. I just inherited Prussia, giving me several unwanted provinces. Pskov and Ingermanland could either be turned into a vassal under Pskov or be sold to Polotsk. I might sell Torun and Plock to Mazovia, I am not that interested in non-cored polish land right now. But I have no idea what to do with Ösel, Estland and Livland. Annoyingly I got cores on them upon inheriting Prussia, and the only vassal I can create is Riga in Livland (who refuses to buy the other 2 provinces)... Should I just sell them to foreigners and wait 50 years for my cores to disappear? Or try and germanize the land? Suggestions?

EDIT: Great, I just noticed inheriting Prussia also gave me a worthless slave province in Africa... Another thing to sell. And Bremen has some provinces in Africa too. Sigh.

Update on my ongoing Russian game:

I have finally formed Russia :)

The Big Game (Eastward expansion into Asia) is about to start!

To give you some idea of the scale of my conquest,a slightly zoomed in screenie. There in the center, you can see the future capital of the world, proud city of Moscow:

That Lithuania is too close to Moscow. Maybe you will drive them back? ;)

But of course, what kind of empire would i be if allowed Pribaltic region to delude itself with such silly notions, like "freedom" and "liberty"... It just takes time to burn infamy, thats all.

Please don't kill jalayarids, defeat ottomans and help jalayarids replace them :p

I'd say you'd make Muhammad ibn Saud and Imam Muhammad Ibn Abd al-Wahhab very proud! Show those decadent Egyptian slave-warriors, Syrian heretics, and Kurdish pretenders what the face of a true Arab warrior looks like!

If you're interested, you should do an AAR of one of these OPMs (I've tried to do some but I've never been able to be bothered to do an update.)
