Republican Dictatorship - a new government

    Hi,
I would like to create a new government, that would represent more centralized republic.
Call it whatever you like - Presidental Republic/Republican Dictatorship/Parliamentary Dictatorship...
One of the main reasons why I want to create this gov is that when you want that some country would start as a nonmonarchy nondemocracy, there is only one type available - the reactionary Presidental Dictatorship.

    My initial thoughts were:
    1. Elections are regular
    2. You can choose the ruling party
    3. Every ideology is allowed

But that would simply make this government the ideal one.
So I am here to ask you what should be the disadvantages of this gov
and where would be the dividing line between this and democracy.

Hmm.. what exactly would this simulate? What country would be an example of this that is not a presidential dictatorship?

It sounds to me like a "benevolent" dictatorship. The dictator allows elections and allows people to participate in the decision-making process but retains full control of the government.

Something like this. But the problem is the universality of this government and if you allow only certain ideologies you will end with something like HMS Government.

Logically, the leader wouldn't allow ideologies that threaten his rule; communist and socialist governments -in theory- have no government and therefore no leader.

Ideologies like conservative, liberal, reactionary, and what have you, don't threaten the leader's power. They only want to change how much or how little freedom people have and are therefore okay.

    Right?

Yes, that sounds good - and the second question: Where is the dividing line between Democracy and this?
    I think that it could be the upper_house_composition, voting_system and/or press_rights.

Also what name and leader title suits this gov the best?

You mean like a presidential dictatorship?
Freedom in capitalist society always remains about the same as it was in the ancient Greek republics: freedom for the slave-owners

That sounds about right, although I'm not sure about press rights.

The name and leader depends. Chancellor, President, your call. I'd go with either of the two.

    A Constitutional Dictatorship?

Sounds exactly like the constitutional monarchy with a president instead of a regent.

Yeah, in game terms, this sounds exactly like a Constitutional Monarchy with that monarch being the "benevolent dictator."
