* The Kiel Canal, Panama Canal, and Suez Canal were built in a day.

* by elves and a ritual sacrifice of cash on the alter of unsuspended disbelief.

* the same elves build factories ports and railroads but need more time to do these simple tasks than the Manhattan Project.
* That you can eat a critter or skin it but not do both.
* Sheep are inedible and must be ground into fiber.
* All factory technological improvements (magically implemented by said elves) will magically expire on Dec. 31, 1935.
* Cavalry horses are summoned by magic.
* The same elves that built the ports and railroads operate them.

The United States didn't have access to the Pacific Ocean until the Acquisition of Hawaii and the Purchase of Alaska.

Mexico was more industrialised in the 19th century than the Netherlands, but couldn't even compete with Central America.

Germany had problems with nationalist rebels who wanted Bavaria and Prussia freed from imperial yoke.

The Ottomans had problems with Anarchists. The Balkan states loved their Turkish brethren.

There were 12 wars of territorial concession in Egypt by European powers that all ended in white peace after a Great Power intervened.

The idea of an independent Syrian nation never occurred to anybody.

The American Civil War started in 1850. The United States could have avoided the Civil War by abolishing slavery in 1847. UPDATE COMPLETE The American Civil War was inevitable.

If there is demand for a good then you build a factory to satisfy that demand. Do not concern with yourself with the availabilty raw materials or labour.

If there are no raw materials or labour then your factory will produce nothing. The demand will still be there so you build another factory which also produces nothing. Demand is the only thing that that matters when deciding whether to build a factory. Just build factories endlessly if you can't get the needed raw materials. :D

When the Panama Canal was built, a half million farmers settled in Colon the next day, despite there being work there for only 40,000. These farmers wandered off to points unknown over the next few years.

The most prosperous and highly industrialized places on earth in 1900 were in modern-day Bangledesh and the Sinai Desert.

Mexico and Awadh were like peas and carrots.

Most of the ships in the world's navies were products of the great shipyards of Africa, India, and Micronesia.

I want to be fair to game, discussing how late Arab nationalism developed, etc. etc...but if Iraq is in the game (which it is, I think), then Syria really should be too.

Except for Sweden, who, remembering the Old Ways, maintained a single guard brigade in their army in Stockholm.
And Texas, who would then go on to use this brigade to soundly defeat the Mexican Army, composed almost completely of irregulars.

Also,
Portugal had very few clergymen in 1836
Britain couldn't care less about Egypt
Cement factories are the linchpin of a nation's industrialization.
The late-2000's American Tea Party movement is but a revamp of the 19th century "Anarcho-Liberals".

France has 4 guard brigades at the start, in Paris.

I think we've also learned that:
South America is not a group of many countries, but rather Brazil is South America.

Asian minors live in all parts of asia. ironically asia minor is inhabited mostly with turks and greeks.

That it doesnt matter if mainland france is consumed by rebels they still go for the sand dunes in africa.

That Mexico is getting a tons of american immigrants.

That The CSA wins the american civil war only later to be consumed by france then the cherokee.

That by 1920 Russia celebrates 50 years of being a republic and dislikes the New Communist France.

Great Britain loves their cattle.

That Hawaii has finally won the place in the sun war with Great Britain and claims south africa for itself but only later to be conquerd by the United States of Central America and Krakow has finnaly finished building the Panama Canal and restored peace in Persia. Also Anhalt has formed the New North German Federation.

Probably said by someone else ,well -

Once upon a time

Labourers and Craftsmen had a lucky life.
They were so happy in the times of industrialization - cause all people earned a lot of money and could buy all those luxuriously thing's they want - especially in China.
Except capitalists - these unlucky people represented the poorest class.
It must have been around 1848 as capitalist's began to revolt and said do something or we will quit the game forever.
Then came these guys from Paradox...they called it a patch.
Then was all care at an end, and they lived in great joy together.

Until the world became soooo much lagging in 1900...
But this is another story i will tell you by time.

* there is no big diffrence between Vicoria 2 and Resident evil. Rebels are like zombies. You keep shooting them, but they always come back for more.
* No soldier has ever looted an enemy camp, no artillery has ever fallen into enemy hands, no technology has ever been stolen/sold, not betwen 1836-1936

The universities of the 19th Century spent much time discussing economics. However, the general consensus was that, unless you wanted a Nobel Prize, research in economics was a waste of time. As the famous economist Karl Marx put it in his treatise Capitalists Say the Damnedest Things, "The means of production is the only important thing. Banks are irrelevant, tax efficiency is irrelevant, and the reduced cost of factories is irrelevant. The only thing that is important is whether you have a factory, whether it has workers, and whether you have enough railroads. If for some weird reason you need more tax revenue to finance the creation of a proletarian Utopia, then enact a stiff tariff after promoting bureaucrats."

There was a renegade minority of thinkers who opposed this trend. Following the footsteps of Peter Ebbessen in his Treatise "Killer Techs," they argued that economic research would enable farmers to feed the world well beyond the Malthusian limits speculated by Malthus at the beginning of the century. Ebbessen writes, "Business Banks - [RGO] for local distribution channels." This cryptic remark was interpreted by his followers to mean that distribution channels would lead to the creation of grocery stores. This would, in turn, substantially increase the output of all farms that received the distribution channels upgrade. However, recent thinkers have speculated that this was the only reason Ebbessen and his disciples ever argued for researching any economic techs at all, as most of this treatise was devoted to discussions of the importance of gas attacks, the relevance of medicine, and why discovering electricity would let you practically rule the world.

I nearly spewed Coke at this.

* The United States must research constitutionalism to understand and obtain any benefit from its 1787 constitution.
* The United States must invent Patents to activate the Patent section of its constitution.
* Patents make buildings cheaper to build rather than inventions more likely to be invented.
* Any country having researched the idea of a constitution gains the benefit without the ugly necessity of having one.
